Good Aspects But Frustrating!

I've had a powermax plus for 4 years. It's generally good but always seems to go wrong when I'm holiday (exactly the wrong time). The most infuriating aspect - and a big problem for me ( I wouldn't get one again) is that if there's a simple problem in the system ( eg one component has a low battery you can't arm it. Suddenly because of one fault your whole house is no longer protected. The user instructions / user menu is a nightmare to use (totally unintuitive). This has happened 3 times since I have had the system - fortunately no break ins at those times however. I'm planning to replace this system with another make as a reSult of this.

Pet Alarm

I have recently bought a visonic pet alarm. It keeps going off every time I go out as it appears to be picking my dog up.there is no support from visonic and I've spent £400 on an alarm I can not use. I tried to speak to visonic but unless you are an installer they won't help you. What's the point in having a pet alarm that detects your put ? Wouldn't have another one and don't want this one really

She's 10.3kg. The only thing we can think of is that we have a corner sofa and the buffet part us right in front of the sense and this is the point where the dog jumps on the sofa. So we think it's when she jumps up that sets it off.

How big is your dog? Anything over 30kg or so and it can't ddifferentiate between that and a child.

Visonic Powermax Complete Kit - You Get What You Pay For!!!!

Our insurance company advised us that we needed a working/ tested every 12months alarm system......

I spent a while trawling the various DIY systems such as Response/ Yale ......the later seemingly much more popular...the price was right @ sub £300 for 8 pir sensors..I had a budget of £500 including fitting.

We then called a couple of local NSI / narcoss companies and they were quoting £900-1000 fitted....I asked how they could justify such cost and what was the alarm made of??????? Anyway it transpired they were all Fitting a Visonic powermax system as its grade 2 and approved by all insurance companies.........

The company who sell Yale, also sell the Visonic range so I was able to get an unbiased report on alarms. I would recommend anyone with the same dilemma speaking to Max @ MAP Security as his explanation/ knowledge was indeed excellent. I purchased from MAP a complete powermax kit + 6 pir's and this came to £400 and could not find a better price on the internet. We paid a local electrician £140 to fit so all in all slightly more expensive that budget.

Six months on and the alarm has proved to be faultless....reliable and easy to use.....we can even remote access alarm via phone.....real cool!

Would I recommend.......definitely...forget the DIY alarms....Visonic is top end gear..

This Product Was Recommended By A Friend Who Is An

This product was recommended by a friend who is an alarm engineer, I was looking for a decent alarm that is easy to fit and this alarm is excellent and really easy to fit. The alarm is ready to use from the box with the PIR sensors already enrolled for the correct zones.

There are loads of extras at a reasonably price, I have just purchased the door shock sensor for £37 pounds, this little sensor picks up on vibrations and activates the alarm. I have my unit connected to the phone line so I any issues are reported to up to 4 phones, this is as standard without having to purchase any thing you do need a phone line though :-)

I could go on and on but you can only really find out for yourself's, buy this product and you will feel a lot safer.

I Have Just Had My Visonic System Installed By Www

I have just had my Visonic system installed by www.unfire.co.uk The system is great. I was worried about lots of false alarms as I have read other reviews about wireless systems being problamatic, but I thought it would be worse to have a load of cables run everywhere, so opted or wireless.

Like with most of my purchases I shopped around on-line and did my home work and I think the deal that I got with a 2 year warrenty and service package included was the right choice.

The big plus point was that Unifire & Security did not try to make me have a long term contract.

The Visonic system itself having seen all its functions can do a lot more than I thought. Im having it set up after christmas so I can set and unset it remotely with my mobile phone!

I found this review helpful because it gives me a bench mark to judge other systems by. I have not read anyother reviews yet.

Q&A

Our system is about 2 years old now, the batteries on the sensors are slowly being replaced which is really easy and straight forward to do. The problem I'm having is the constant bleeping at silly hours from the control box, I've tried turning it on and off again to reset it, it says in the manual, it also comes up with a warning sign and says problem with wireless alarm. The alarm has gone off several times this last week for no apparent reason. Can anyone help?
