I Have Been To The Hungry Monk In Lochwinnoch Many

I have been to the Hungry Monk in Lochwinnoch many times and each time I go I am never disappointed. The food is delicious and very well presented. I cannot resist having a starter and because of the size of portions I have yet to manage a pudding as I am stuffed after two courses. My husband and two children and myself all order different food and we have never had a bad course yet. The waiting staff are very efficient and attentive.

I Had The Fillet Steak - Medium - It Was, Melt In

I had the fillet steak - medium - it was, melt in the mouth, for lack of a better expression. My partner had the sea food trio, the scalloups full of flavour and cook to perfection. Sweets weren't too good i felt, i had the banoffe pavalova it was as if they had had thrown it together without much care, it tasted ok, but for the £7.50 your paying i would expect better. My wife had sticky toffey pudding it was definately home made and was deliscious. Service in the The Hungry Monk was fantastic we recieved our drinks straight away and food was surprisingly good for it being busy.

My Girlfriend And I Went To The Hungry Monk For My

my girlfriend and I went to The Hungry Monk for my 21st birthday dinner. When we arrived it looked fantastic outside and in but when we ordered i had ordered a lamb joint but ended up with a lamb stew??, to be fair the girl did offer to replace it with what i had ordered but as my girlfriend's dinner had arrived and that in fact it didn't look so bad and smelt fine i rejected her offer and went with the stew, big mistake. The stew was very very salty and not to what i would call a high standard, anyway we finished our meal and drinks got the bill and as i had not enjoyed my meal and as i didn't order in in the fist place i felt it was right for it to be taken off the bill or at least pay half price for it but i was told that as i had not taken them up on the replacement that they was unable to take it off the bill and that there was nothing they could do and that it is company policy. Anyway I paid full price for the meal in the end but I feel I did not receive value for money and I thought the food and customer service was poor and not worth a visit.

I Thought The Food Was Very Disappointing Consider

I thought the food was very disappointing considering the seemingly fine dining restaurant prices. Felt the menu was far too extensive and was disappointed with freshness, quality of prep and presentation. I think listing hot beverages served with a mint is ridiculous and they couldn't even seem to get this right!

King prawn and scallop spaghetti with chilis and cherry tomatoes....

Luke warm overcooked spaghetti smothered in what tasted like acidic tinned tomato sauce. No hint of chilli (despite waiter forewarning that the dish is very spicy...which I wanted it to be). Three watery scallops and three tasteless prawns presented like a tin of Heinz spaghetti in a microwaveable bowl accompanied by some limp undercooked garlic bread! Cost £15.95!

Malaysian Chicken....

Consisted of flavourless overcooked (and dry) pieces of prepared chicken that appeared to have been reheated with lack lustre korma-esque sauce accompanied by unseasoned timbale of rice and naan. Again did not deliver on presentation or taste in my opinion. Cost £14.95!

With desserts priced from £6.50 this restaurant no way of redeeming itself for me.

My Two Sisters And Myself Took My Mother To The Hu

My two sisters and myself took my mother to the Hungry Monk at Lochwinnoch for her 75th Birthday. She ordered the breaded fish which when it eventually came looked to be overcooked and a frozen piece of fish. At the prices asked for at the Hungry Monk this should have been fresh and certainly not overcooked. I asked for Chicken Darroch. When it arrived it was a tiny piece of chicken placed on top of an even tinier portion of Haggis and finished with a very thick cream sauce. Not worth the money. A small glass of red wine cost £4.50. Not worth the money. I was very disappointed in the whole evening and I will not be back.

We Decided On The Hungry Monk, Lochwinnoch To Cele

We decided on the Hungry Monk, Lochwinnoch to celebrate an important birthday for my Mum and were really disappointed in the food and the service. I felt the food was overcooked and tasteless and the reaction to our complaint by a member of staff was that they would pass on our comments. The service seemed very slow and some of the staff did not appear too interested.

it was my first visit and will most certainly be my last.

We Arrived At The Hungry Monk In Lochwinnoch On A

We arrived at The Hungry Monk in Lochwinnoch on a sunny Saturday afternoon and wanted to sit on the huge patio which was nearly empty. I went inside to order some drinks. First problem, took ages only one very young barman trying to cope with the queue some of whom were trying to pay bills, some trying to order food and some just trying to get a drink. Finally got served, asked for menu, said we were outside. Only serve sandwiches and soup outside. Chose sandwiches, had to stand in another large queue for same young barman. Eventually got served, asked if we could have a portion of chips with our sandwiches, not possible, sandwiches and soup only if you are outside.......... This is a great big restaurant in a good position, it is understaffed and a bit too rigid. This is a bad advert for Scottish tourism and we certainly wouldn't go back or to the other two versions at Gartochan and Langbank.
