We stayed from the 11/ 14 Oct. 2024. The staff are helpful and the food was excellent.

The entertainment was good but she was outstanding.

When is she due to return.

The Ancient Building Itself Is Awesome - However,

The ancient building itself is awesome - however, not all the rooms are in it. There is a sort of annexe to it, and this seems to have been based upon the average Travelodge. Nothing wrong with Travelodges of course, but they average at fifty quid per room a night, unlike this place. The rooms were okay, but we expected a lot more luxury for the price. We assume the luxury can be experienced in the more expensive rooms inside the old part of the hotel. But wouldn't be surprised if they aren't a rip off too.

Dined in a buffet style restaurant which felt like a seven mile walk from our room and we had to queue for ages to get some meat carved by the chef.

He was so slow that we were glad we hadn't got any hot vegetables first because they would have been stone cold by the time we got our meat.

There were loads of huge bowls of salads but there wasn't actually much choice of salad really - 8 huge bowls but all with the same contents. And nothing was labelled. So you just had to guess what everything contained, including the desserts. So anyone with nut allergies etc should beware.

All except the desserts tasted bland. Breakfast was ok. The waiting staff were all quite young and were either inexperienced or disinterested or both.

We went to the 'theatre' in the evening to see the entertainment. We had heard from friends that there was a good jazz trio there on Thursday nights who played sax, bongos, congas and piano etc and that they were really good. They told us this trio played a bit of jazz plus a nice selection of songs to sequence dance to plus a bit of pop music to try and cater for all age groups. But they must have been washing their hair that night because we got stuck with a 'gang show' put on by the entertainment staff of the Hotel. It was dreadful. I do like to be beside the seaside in this day and age? Is it 2010 or are Warners entertainment team stuck in a 1950's time warp?

For the money you pay per night you should get a high standard of entertainment. If we said this was like a bad amateur musical we would be insulting amateur dramatic societies.

The bar staff weren't that friendly either. In fact they looked bored.

It seems Warners want to charge high prices but don't want to give quality in return.

The grounds and the Hall are very impressive to look at - but to be honest you can go and have a coffee in the courtyard and walk past the house and save yourself some money. And they say it's in Sherwood Forest - well, unfortunately there doesn't seem to be much forest left.

Very disappointed.
