Ikea Sultan Tolg Mattress

I only used this mattress two years and last two weeks half of my mattress is simply collapsed (by the way the bed itself is IKEA too)

I had the same letter, called back and said "I'd like to appeal against your decision because the problem with the mattress is very obvious" They said I have to find a mattress engineer (whatever that means) and get a report against their report.

I asked: where can I find them? Answer "Honestly I don't know"

I asked: What is your criteria for this report, could I get it from any mattress shop? Answer "Whoever provides such report" but he doesn't know what is the criteria for this report.

Basically they ask me to find a mattress specialist (they don't know where those engineers found), pay them, produce a report and get back to IKEA.

You may think: ever mattress may have slight bumps and dents. Mine is simply "Collapsed!" (same as my study desk and shelves)

Anyhow I will find this bed engineers and make them pay for their cheap mattress

it's simply awful. I bought it because I'm living in china and my mattress is to hard so I thought this pad would help but it doesn't. I just sink in it, I wake up a lot during the night and I get back pain, something I never had during my life. I used it for one week and just removed it. will use it as a mattress if I host friends. As a bed topper it's awful. And yes it smells a lot but that doesn't bother me just wash it a few times and use a lining and that won't be the problen. I thing it's bad for my health so I would never recommend it. I'm only 70 kg maybe it works well for those above 120 kg. I don't know but I wouldn't give it a try. Besides it'e really empensive

The Tolg is a mattress topper. Not a mattress. I have no doubt the people who wrote negatives have an unrelated beef with IKEA. The topper contains wool which might be giving off a smell they are talking about. AS for me, I love my Tolg. The comment about "extra flame retardant" is crazy. Ikea doesn't use excess chemicals on their products, only enough to meet the requirements by law. Instead, they use natural materials which help offer natural protection from flames. I think those writing bogus reviews should get their facts right before they try to slander a great product. As for the Tolg, it's the most comfy topper I've ever owned. I did a lot of research into these and found it's by far one of the best. Great price too.

Went from a 3in bed bath and beyond memory foam topper. The memory foam just gets to hot and i feel like im sinking. Me and my fiancee love the sultan tolg. Picked it up on sale because the new products are coming in for 2012. Great price and a great latex topper. Provides alot more support than memory foam and stays nice and cool. It was vaccum packed but i dont smell any overwheling smells at all. The first night or two kinda smelled like a new car it was nice:) i would suggest this to anyone who does not like memory foam. Last thing this topper is actually the same dimentions as my Sultan Hagavik which is nicer than missing about a foot on one side.

I have the Sultan TOLG MATTRESS TOPPER.... i've read some of your reviews saying it is a mattress.. it is not a mattress it is a "topper" It doesn't even contain latex so again people should know what they are buying. So people who compalin saying it is a mattress probably don't even know what they've bought, I love mine!

Same thing here. I just woke up and have the IKEA fumes headache. We actually aired it out for several weeks and shelled out a hundred bucks to put it in a cover. It still reeks. I'm worried about what this is doing to our health but it's difficult to return without a truck. We may just end up throwing it out on the street. To add insult to injury, the bed (which started out very soft) is now hard as a rock and we wake up with backaches every morning now. I just came back from a week long business trip and the sleep I got on the hotel mattress was the first decent sleep I've gotten in weeks. I'm definitely never, ever buying a mattress from IKEA again and will tell every I can to avoid it like the plague. If you don't have much money, you're better off with a higher-end air mattress.

I bought a Ikea Sultan Tolg Mattress from IKEA. The smell and the fumes are disgusting. I wake up in the night with a headache and feeling sick. I have tried airing it for a week (had to sleep elsewhere) but it has made no difference. IKEA don't seem to want to replay to my letters. I'm going to throw it out soon.

I had the same smell problem and I have returned the mattress. The staff told me that they have recently changed the matress' covers to be washable, therefore they have used greater amounts of fire retardant on them. People are bringing them back but not writing up complaints to the shop, so they cannot do anything about it as it depents from central management to review the product and it is not goign to happen unless enough complaints are issued.

I can't get rid of the latex smell from my Sultan Tolg mattress. I've even tried airing it outside but the smell just won't go away. I've tried everything to get rid of the smell. Unfortunately I don't have the receipt anymore. IKEA said to bring it in and they will look at it and see what they can do but I live 3 hours away from the nearest IKEA so it's a long way to travel without a guarantee of a return. The smell is so bad that there is no way I can use the mattress.
