had engineer out, says its normal !!!!!!!!!!!
took a 3 year warranty out but noise isn`t covered,
I would get rid of it but for the warranty I paid for.
Do noyt but this thing, unless its going in your garage !!!!
I have had my RFA 52 for just over half of a year. I have realised the craking noises recently. Called the service line and was told that this is normal - the fridge freezer is in defrost mode and it will stop (for a period time, then will start again). not very nice "FEATURE".

I Had This Hotpoint Rfa52 Fridge Freezer For 15 Mo
I had this Hotpoint RFA52 fridge freezer for 15 months and all was great until I opened it one morning to find that all my food in it had defrosted. Yet the machine was still on and working. Called an engineer out and was told it was most likely to be a blockage in the gas (the machine was just freezing and defrostind constantly) and that he could flush it out but he could not guarentee it would solve the problem, as he had known it to happen again after re gasing.
