Yale Alarm Service & Install
I had an alarm company called Tidy Solutions based in Surrey give me a free quote and advice, they deal with Yale alarms and are very competitive and informative, installed within 2 days of quote, hovered any mess and costs only £80 for a maintenance, why spend loads with ADT, strongly recommend anyone a Yale system, easy to use not too expensive to buy and have fitted :) +++++++++

Yale Alarms
Would't it be good if the real bell box had 24hr flashing l.e.d lights? Iv seen Yale real bell boxes with l.e.d flashing lights for sale from £20+. But i fitted my own flashing l.e.d lights for £7.00.And now I'm fitting my mum's house with Yale
.
Bought a flashing LED from MAP Security...supa bright and specifically designed to work in the Yale siren box....looks the mutts nutts :)
Often Goes Wrong
My alarm was fitted by a qualified engineer who fitted one for himself. It was OK at first but then I had problems deactivating it.The last time, a couple of days ago,I couldn't disalarm it.I entered the code but nothing worked after I entered the first 2 digits. Then it started going off. Nothing I could do would stop the terrible racket. Not long after it started my neighbours started to appear to find out what was happening. I must admit I panicked a bit.The wall mounted keypad showed all kinds of messages including a complete blank for a while but still it went on and on. Suddenly "Enter code" appeared and I rapidly entered the code and the alarm stopped. I haven't dared to activate since. No internet response from Yale. I telephoned but after 5 minutes on "hold" I gave up. This is not uncommon with
a number of companies, in fact some of them never answer and the call ends.
DON'T BUY IT.
Thats a bit harsh considering I have just had the self same fault on a brand new, out of the box Yale 6400 alarm.
Also this new panel was to replace another 6400 which developed the fault of appearing to be working but actually not as it never detected an alarm state.
It's also worth noting that sometimes the 6400 seems to be happy to set even with external doors left open!
It's the old story, the fitter blaming there tools and equipment rather than the way they fitted it? iv fitted a lot of alarms with no false alarms.
Yale 6400 has soft touch keypad, it could have been caused by one of the buttons getting stuck, if you push it really hard. If you managed to disarm it, it may be back to normal and you should be able to use it without any problems. The installer who fitted it may be able to reconfirm this, or you can always give us a shout.

Yale Smart Home Alarm - Gsm/ Sim Card Similar To Hsa6400
After researching the market for an insurance approved alarm, we opted for the Yale Smart Alarm - obviously the brand speaks for itself and its grade 2 listed. We also needed a GSM based alarm and this is the yale yop of the range alarm. We purchased a complete package via MAP Security in Bristol I believe as recommneded by Yale. They did indeed offer a variety of brands but we stuck to Yale ........
The Smart alarm is a wireless alarm 868Mhz and Grade 2 listed which basically means its for professional installation only BUT as I'm quite technical, I decided to have a go...First things first the alarm is very sophisticated and offers multi home protection from one panel which is great as my neighbour and I spilit the cost which with all sensors was just shy of £600 - this included the external PIR to protect our driveway cars. My neighbour also is able to dial in and active heating using the wireless switch part.
So to install the alarm is quite challenging as the manual is written for installers however its clear enough so that a first timer can have a go. Reliability is superb, we have a sim card in ours and you can remote access. Build quality seems ok, no probs as of yet...
As for the distributor MAP Security, I was very impressed with their politeness and helpful approach shown on several phone calls - Honest and sincere direction was given from these guys and they really helped me decide exactly what i needed - Would I recommend?? The days of finding a company to spend 20 mins on the phone and know their product is becoming more and more rare..MAP are more old fashioned and offer this service complete and in full!
Actually we just had to get certification due to high value mountain bikes/ insurance requirement. We had an NSI siliver company service the alarm and we got the certificate..ok it was a little more at 70+VAT but no problem whatsoever!
We also have remote monitoring.....The visonic siren is plastic and certainly not screaming :)nice alarm all he same.
A local NSI company wanted £900 to fit the alarm...we done it our way with certficate for under £400..happy daze!
Sorry to say you will not get a nacoss cert by just getting your system serviced by a nacoss company, they would have to bring the system upto nacoss spec first.
All professional systems will have a screaming external bell box if the control panel is smashed up, as it has its own back up battery, and if it's on monitoring and the phone line goes down then within 2mins the monitoring station will know there is a problem as well.
Most alarms are plastic cover sirens...we just had a Visonic powermax fitted by my mate...no problem....if you need nacoss certification just phone a local company to service...£60, simples
Most makes of alarm systems are made of some form of plastic so a hammer could destroy most of them. So unless you are recommending a steel control panel and bell why pick on Yale.
Grade 2 means nothing if your not an approved installer. Your insurance company will not recognise your system without a SSAIB certificate which also proves it was installed correctly. Waste of money otherwise and having a Yale alarm will not deter anyone as they can be disabled in seconds. Basically hit it with a hammer then it cannot work when it's on the floor in 16 pieces. I have seen this happen many times. I have ripped out so many Yale systems I have lost count.

Alarm Ok Customer Service Terrible
I have rung customer service 3 times now requesting what number will be displayed on my mobile phone if the alarm is activated. I have tested this and it is not my home phone number that is displayed. All 3 customer service staff have told me it IS my home phone number and when I have told them it is not and if they could please check for me then they hung up. They must not give comprehensive training to customer service and the current staff would rather lie and make up facts as opposed to investigating a problem.
Absolutely rediculous. I will never buy a yale alarm again and avoid buying their locks as much as possible.
Absolute tosh......get an NSI company in to fit alarm and you will pay for it......buy a Visonic powermax and fit yourself......we were quoted £1200 for the alarm fitted by NSI company....we bought the gear from map security for less than £400 and my mate fitted for £100........
Yes and some companies actually make a living fitting these DIY alarms, DIY stands for "do it yourself" not get a non approved company to install it for you. mmm
Using a non approved company (SSAIB or NSI) is madness, as there is no way of knowing the job has been done properly.
It should be your home number UNLESS you have some phone service subscribed by your phone provider , like hiding your number etc.
There is NO provision for the Yale system to send anything other than your own number so in this case it is down to your telephony provider.
Of course fitting security alarms is not within everyones capability.

Great Alarm And Simple To Install
I bought the Yale HSA6400 premium alarm about 2 years ago and fitted it with the missus one Saturday afternoon. The job took us a couple of hours, this included the 'walk test'(a simple way of confirming that all the sensors are functioning correctly). We've since added 2 extra PIRs and 1 additional door sensor for increased security. This alarm comes with an instructional DVD and a booklet for ease of installation. I've this weekend changed the batteries on the siren, again a relatively quick, simple process, (the longest part of this job for me, was setting the ladder up). I've read some of the reviews here and it seems that a few people have really struggled with setting up this system, but I really can't understand why. I mean, they even provide double sided sticky pads for the PIRS & sensors, so you don't even need to know how to use a drill. I suppose if you're a real novice to DIY, or don't feel confident working from a ladder then you may struggle and its probably worth calling in a pro.

Excellent System
Bought this system from Homebase along with an extra PIR and 2 extra door/window contacts. Setup and Instalation took 1 1/2 hours at most. System phones me or my partner when activated, all sensors are individually named, signal strong enough to work in garage and shed. Instructions are so so so simple to follow. Would highly recommend to anyone
Even with10% off that's £25 at my Homebase (£250.00). If you'd gone to Yale online it's £135.00 free p&p. It always pay to shop around. Also it's easy to fit comfort L.E.D flashing lights in a real or dummy bell box. Don't pay the £20.00 some companys are asking, you can do it for a lot less.
Home base had a sale on all alarms plus i bought it on one of there weekends where u get 10% off everything so I saved a good 40% on normal price
you got riped off going to Homebase, you wold have got a better deal from Yale them selfs.
Indeed a great system

Please Read This Before Buying A Yale Alarm!
I bought a Yale Standard Alarm. Instructions are vague and don't explain in detail what to do if this or that happens during setup. Took multiple attempts to set equipment up as keypad refused to be accepted by the siren, and when finally positioned the PIR's didn't register any movement for about a minute (During this time about two grands worth of tools could have been stolen from my workshop) and the door opening alarm failed to sound alarm even though test said that it was functioning ok. Helpline number? Joke. No number on instructions to call in the event of problems setting up. Finally tracked one down on internet and surprise! it's an 019 number. I spent about 25 quid hanging on for 20 minutes at a time and still not getting connected. (These people are making money out of your misery). This is supposed to be a reputable company. They can kiss my a#se. Alarm is going back to shop. I'll be removing the batteries and keeping as a small compensation.
Lol why don't you tell us what professional Alarm company you really work for. Unless of course you are unable to actually fit a DIY alarm?
Q&A
The alarm activates as soon as door is opened upon entry, how can I set a delay time interval?
Can I set my yale burglar alarm without a fob?
