This Is A Lovely Boot. Admittedly It's Very Simila
This is a lovely boot. Admittedly it's very similar to the Shifty's, but it's also a nice set of skates in their own right. The set up it comes with is either Ground Control 3G or Ground Control Shima Featherlight frames. I bought mine with the Featherlight's and they are wonderful frames; Light and they lock onto rails beautifully.
The soul plate's are slightly to small, but it is a nice compromise between large heavy soul plates and lightweight skinny ones. They are perfectly wide enough to pull off any grind with ease.
The boot itself is a hard shell and made out of a very tough plastic. I have thrown these boot all over the place and they are undamaged. Same with the frames: very solid and well made. Because it is a hard shell you don't have as much ankle movement as a soft shell, so anyone who likes skating with really loose boots, I don't recommend these.
The wheels (Razor Team) are good and give a nice smooth ride. The bearings are also reliable and fast enough for most people (Fracture ABEC 5), but a fair few people (including me) may want to upgrade to ABEC 7 or ABEC 9 or for very reliable, and fast bearings, Bones Red. If you have the money get Bones Swiss or Ceramic since these are probably the best bearings available.
There is only one complaint i have with the Cult LE, and that's the liners. They are awful. Not at all up to the standard of the rest of the blades. Throw them out and get some Jug liners instead as the ones supplied with the boot fall apart after about a month.
Warning about the colour: the frames are a more brilliant white than the boot (slightly cream coloured) and so this looks slightly strange when they are completely clean. Although after a couple of skating sessions it's no longer noticeable since the scuffs and dirt from grinding cover it up. As nice as the white frames look with the white boot, very quickly you will start to regret not getting the black frames. Your white frames will turn a nasty grey colour with black streaks and this doesn't look nice and is impossible to clean off.
Overall this is a nice boot with only one fault. The liners. I highly recommend it to anyone (beginner/intermediate) who wants to improve their skating. The low weight, good quality and cheap price make this a fantastic deal (Route One: £89.99 with 3G frames. £99.99 with Shima Featherlight frames). You will need to add another £50 to this price though, since a new set of liners is a must. But for £150 these blades are a bargain and well worth the money.
