Iced Wedding Cake

iBought. A wedding cake off the shelves and well in date. The cake looked attractive, however the icing was hard and difficult to cut and the cake was dry and crumbly, it ended up in the bin.

I Was So Disappointed With My Wedding Cake. Each

I was so disappointed with my wedding cake. Each tier had badly applied icing - which included marks on the surface and air bubbles. I cried when I saw the cake. A few phonecalls later to local cake makers saved the day when one took pity on me and recovered the cakes for me and added some decorations - it cost me more money but saved the day. I would not recommend M&S for wedding cakes.

Bought Traditional 3 Tier Wedding Cake From M&s Fo

bought traditional 3 tier wedding cake from m&s for wedding july 2010. the quality was just as good as any other cake provider at a fraction of the cost. it cost less than £150 for 3 tier cake and the pilars/dowels to erect cake it was so easy. watch the video on m&s website they show you every step of the way. also got cutting bars for extra pieces in the price above.this fed over 200.fuit cake was best i've ever tasted as a rule dont like fruit cake it wasnt too heavy, dry or rich,it was moist and light. sponge cake was nice, although could have been lighter but for price wasnt going to complain. everybody commented on cake.they couldnt believe it was m&s cake.also said it tasted just as good as wedding cake specialist. would reccommend

The Nightmare Before The Wedding! My Niece Ordered

The nightmare before the wedding! My niece ordered a 3 tier Romantic Pearl Wedding Cake (chocolate sponge)from M&S a few months before her wedding. Having collected 3 days before the event so that I could decorate it with her choice of design, we opened the boxes to find that each cake had something wrong with it. The bottom tier was lop sided, the middle tier had a long indentation in the fondant icing on the top and side and the top tier had an indentation on the top edge so it looked an odd shape. Also the icing pearls the side of the cake were uneven. We immediately took photos of the cake as we could not believe that M&S let such a unprofessionally finished cake out looking like this, having no time to get another cake we had to get on with what we had.

When attempting to set the cake up at the venue the day before, the instructions were totally inadequate to say the least as you have to place each tier on top of one another. It says that the cakes are on boards so all you have to do is to stack them, but it doesn't tell you how to handle the cakes to stop indentations occuring on the sides as the fondant icing is still pliable and you have to take off transit boards that are stuck to the bottom of the two upper tiers. In the end we had to go and buy thin dowling and cut to exact size allowing for the problem with the uneven bottom tier, to support the two upper tiers and to stop the middle tier listing. The day went well, the cake didn't. My niece is still waiting to hear from M&S.

M & S Phoned 2 Days Before The Wedding To Say They

M & S Phoned 2 days before the wedding to say they could no longer provide the cake we ordered months in advance and we should look for an alternative ourselves.

We managed to find one last minute from an alternative source (costing us alot of money and being a different style) M & S were no help. After we managed to get an alternative cake elsewhere they changed their mind and said we could have had a cake from them after all so they would not give us any compensation. They were rude, uncoooperative and arrogant when we complained. They caused us allot of stress and their service was appalling. NEVER order a cake from M&S.
