Stay Away! Rubbish Boilers, Appaling Customer Service

So the fan of my Keston C36 Combi boiler has broken. I've called Keston so they can provide out of warranty service and fix it.I was asked for a serial number as my boiler was apparently not registered even though it has been installed by Keston. Fine. I couldn't find a serial number - I was told my boiler won't be registered without it. I finally found it INSIDE the boiler. Keston engineer put the label inside. I told Keston I've got the serial number on which I was told I removed the cover of the boiler hence Keston engineers won't come! In short - I've been refused Keston service because of Keston engineer placed the sticker INSIDE the boiler! I was punished for Keston mistake! Incredible. I've read online that Keston is absolutely rubbish.I knew they boilers are among the worst. Now I know their customer service is as bad as boilers! STAY AWAY AND SAVE YOURSELF MONEY, NERVES AND TIME!

Horrendous Keston

Our Keston Kudos 28 is about seven years old (I'm not counting). From installation we had problems which have continued throughout those years. I'm a housewife in my fifties and I have become something of an expert on what errors codes mean, we have had most of the many error codes in our time. This has been probably the worst purchase we ever made in our 35 year marriage. We soon became first name terms friendly with the kindly Keston service engineer who took pity on us and comes out to fix the thing when we need him, if he is available...It has cost us a fortune, just about every part has been replaced, some multiple times. Foolishly we put up with the regular error codes, frequent lack of heating and hot water that this miserable boiler causes. I'd like to campaign for Keston to do something about their product and put us all out of our misery. It's is a disgrace to British engineering! to do my lttle bit to protect other householders I think I will email all my contacts with this review.

I would like to give this product zero stars.

Keston C36 Combi Absolute Rubbish

I had the C36 installed about 6 years ago. It needed a new ignition unit on the second day. From then on then it has had numerous parts replaced and at one point the engineers were coming out every other week. Fortunately it was under guarantee and then extended, followed by a British Gas contract. Otherwise it would have cost thousands to repair it. Frankly I don't believe it was ever fit for purpose. It currently needs a new fan and is not worth repairing. So a new boiler and anything but a Keston

Worst Purchase I Have Ever Made

Ever since I bought my Keston boiler it has gone wrong each year - the repairs/ services made each winter by Keston don't last more than a week or two and on second visits they have replaced so many parts I think I we are funding China's GDP! Invest in a boiler that works and don't waste all your hard earned salary on this junk! I have nothing that I have liked about this boiler or those who are sent to service it to say sadly except that it reminds me how grateful I need to be to have heating in cold winters! Keston - a bad name for boilers

Rubbish Boiler Keston Are Rogue Traders!

Keston Combic36 was fitted in Dec 2011 and our first call out came out a week after it was commissioned!

Since then 17 Engineer visits later almost all components changed they have attempted to blame our water source and pressure in October 2014.

Despite countless calls to their head office, until legal action was threatened (having reported them to Which and Trading Standards) the Customer Service Director telephoned to advise that the warranty would be extended for another year.

Standard warranty is 2years (most other manufactures offer a minimum of 5-7years)

Fitting a Keston was the worst mistake we ever made (easy option for the installer) it has taken 3 years and hundreds if not thousands of wasted hours on the telephone and waiting for engineers to get a point of a weak promise of an extended warranty.

This boiler was manufactured in Romania and Ideal took over Keston because they wanted the rights to the flue system! Poor quality control on their products meant they moved operations to Hull. Any improvements? Think not!

Do not be fobbed off, you have 6years under Consumer Rights Legislation persure them to the max as the customer services is appalling if not downright rude!

One star given as we had to do that to right a review otherwise it would have been -10 Stars.

DO NOT BUY KESTON OR IDEAL as RUBBISH!

Do Not Buy A Keston Boiler! Rubbish

I wrote a review on this boiler Keston (c36 Combi) in Jan 2011 when it was first fitted. Two years done the line (now this model has been removed from the market) it gets even worse.

We have called out 15 engineers including (Ideal Home / Keston) top chief experts, had every single component changed, including the mother board and it still breaks down regularly. A donkey or just very poor manufacturing!!!!! Stitched up! You better believe it!

The warranty is worthless (2 years now extended after a battle to 3 years).

DO TOUCH this company with a barge poll!!! Utter RUBBISH!

Don't Do It

Had a Keston boiler installed when having an extension eight years ago by a local building firm.

Nothing but problems since day one, when filling the bath never have to use the cold tap, as get boiling hot water followed by cold water! a hot shower is what you have when you go on holiday. Have to have work done on it every couple of months, decided that this is the last time we are having work done on it, then will have to take a loan to buy a proper boiler! and dump this excuse for a boiler, one star is frankly one to many.

Keston Can't Even Do Services

KESTON BOILERS ARE UNABLE TO SERVICE CENTRAL LONDON BOILERS. THEY HAVE APPARENTLY BEEN UNABLE TO FIND PARKING IN SW3. THE ENGINEER NOT ONLY DID NOT CALL BUT DID NOT LEAVE A CARD AS HE CLAIMED WITH KESTON ITSELF. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THE ENGINEERS HAVE FAILED TO SHOW UP FOR APPOINTMENTS.

THE BOILER ITSELF KEEPS GOING WRONG. AVOID KESTON LIKE THE PLAGUE.

Keston Boilers - Take Note

I have an old Keston 80 boiler which came with my home and it has caused nothing but problems throughout the 8x years as a home owner. I am unable to think of any item that has caused me more stress, exhorbitant cost, aggravation and futility, and of course there have been numerous occasions where I have had no water.

There are less than a handful of technicians who understand the complex working mechanism of the boilers and it’s pretty much a long and costly process of elimination in order to find faults. Parts are either extremely scarce or discontinued and unbelievably costly.

Keston themselves have no interest in participating in any kind of aftersales service or advice.

Let this be a warning to you ….

Worst Boiler On The Market

I installed a keston qudos 28s in march 2011, only because the previous keston boiler had failed due to cracked heat exchanger - common fault on kestons.

Within a year it started going to reset, and keston finally came out to change a pcb and transformer.

in april 2013 the boiler developed a leak.

I went to see it and was appalled at the state of the boiler.

The leak was caused by a heating return pipe in the boiler connected to the pump- probably due to poor workman ship.

The bottom of the boiler casing was completely rusted to bare metal.

Condensate had leaked from the flue outlet pipe of heat exchanger and rotted the flimsy jubilee clips.

The flue out bracket on boiler had cracked for no apparent reason.

Contacted keston( it was one month out of warrantee)

They came out and said boiler was not repairable, and should be replaced.health and safety risk.

Also they said The water leak was caused by a poor seal on the flue?

The flues are glued together, and tested on installation, with no seals.

The leak was on the heating circuit, so had nothing to do with the flue.

so average life span of a keston, two years.

If your thinking of buying a keston, you are better of spending it on something a bit more reliable, like a fiat.

I will not be putting in any more kestons.
