New Door Lock

I recently had a new door lock fitted and have to say the service I received from the initial phone call to installation and payment was 5 star. Professional and friendly.

After Sale Care And Warranty

9 years from installation there was a requirement to contact CR Smith. A door had been installed in an old style cottage and movement had occured putting stress on the handles and hinges.

Nonetheless the company immediately accepted responsibility and had someone on the property to fix the problem within two hours. He took time into the evening to ensure the problem was correctly dealt with. In addition he further checked the remainder of the installions.

A massive thank you for quickly getting the process started and for ensuring a complete and totaly satisfactory conclusion.

No Concern For Safety. Poor Customer Service.

I was pressured into buying windows on the same day as the estimate, as the salesman claimed this was my only opportunity to take advantage of their 'flexi-fit' offer, though I do not recall this being a requirement listed on the website. I was told reversible windows were the only style which could be legally fitted in my 1st floor flat due to Scottish building regulations (in which outer surfaces must be safely cleanable from inside the property). The installers were pleasant, but chose not to use a scaffold as agreed, instead they clambered on my kitchen work surfaces, causing minor damage. No safety harnesses were used while they worked at height (as had been described). My furniture was not covered by dust sheets, and no cleaning of their mess was done in my flat, or the communal stair, before they left (which I had been promised). Installation took 2 days instead of 1 due to lack of basic materials on the 1st day, meaning I had to cancel a family meal. Once installed, it became apparent the kitchen window could not be reversed due to its position behind the worktop and the design of the mechanism. Even attempting to do so requires one to kneel on the worktop right beside the opening lean outwards at full stretch over a 4m drop (potentially lethal). After I complained there was a video call to discuss the issue, then a house visit, then no feedback whatsoever. When I requested a written response by email, they instead phoned me and explained they would be taking no corrective action. I am in the process of reporting the issue to Trading Standards.

Sash & Case Window Replacement

We had quite a few windows replaced and the end result was brilliant. Looks quality and feels quality. We did have some issues during and after installation but they were resolved efficiently and promptly which to me matters the most.

3 Years On And Still Waiting

3 years ago appointed CR Smith to build my Orangerie. In year 1 it leaked but was fixed. 3 years on still waiting on my completion certificate, apparently CR Smith can't find the photos needed by the council. Very prompt at taking the money even promising gift vouchers to write a good review. Although I love my orangerie customer care definately needs to be improved and please please sort out my completion certificate!

Windows & Doors

Had bifold doors fitted 12 years ago which looked lovely & was very happy with them but shortly after problems started to arise , one side kept dropping so had workmen coming 2or 3 times every few months trying to rectify the problem this kept happening for years , they took glass panels out to change them but still problems kept happening , I couldn’t fault the workmen but management were awful , I was always patient with them , however kept getting flogged of with excuse after another , now waiting on them getting replaced , but telling me they can only give me a years guarantee on these new ones after all the problems I have had to put up with !!! Had got windows & front door done aswell , the double glazing doesn’t exist can hear the traffic noises it’s like the windows are open , so annoying, so I would definitely never recommend cr smith products to anyone

Horrendous Attitude And Even Worse

We bought a house a year ago which had an expensive CR smith conservatory and windows, now out of guarantee. Every window has been incorrectly installed, at different angles in the frames (which suggest poor measurement and perhaps over sizing), every gasket perished, every one leaking and glazing starting to fail. The service we used was their Fix, and started badly with an extremely ignorant and aggressive surveyor - almost bounded him out the house for his unprofessional attitude. Fix claim to sort any windows irrespective who installed them. Sufficient to say they can’t fix their own, said seals not available, admitted they had made such a bad job of the judges on previous fixes that they wouldn’t deal with the repair work. Shocking from start to finish. Don’t touch with a barge pole.

Do Not Believe All You Are Told.

My sole reason for using C R Smith was because I liked the slim frame, other windows have quite chunky frames.

Be very careful of what the salesman tells you. I get a lot of reflected light coming in which affects my eyes and I was told they would supply special glass to stop this. Came at extra cost of course!!! Well believe you me IT DOES NOT WORK, so do not waste your money.

I couldn't fault the workmen, they were competent and very polite, BUT they were going to walk away and leave me with two very bad scratches on glass if I had not pulled them up on it. So make sure and check your glass before you let workmen off the premises.

If you have any weakness in your hands (I have arthritis) I would not recommend as the windows are very stiff to open, even the little push button. I had to call them back and they did try to slacken them off but I still struggle.

No Completion Certificate After Three Years

CR Smith completed a conservatory for me in 2015 and despite numerous attempts to contact them about this since, I am yet to receive the completion certificate. The only time they have returned one of my calls is when I enquired about a new front door. Terrible customer service.

How much approx is a conservatory soft light tiled roof, floor size 3x4 ? Thanks

Brockie.1949

Are CR Smith reliable and do they honour their 10 yr door guarantee and are their doors of good quality and suitable for a residential park home?

Does the climate control really work in the conservatory? Is there no added heaters required in winter time?

JoannaSproule

Sorry for the delay in responding. I had not noticed the question function on this site and have just recently replaced the previous employee.

Every customer we have interviewed has commented that the climate control is the best thing about their conservatory. No added heaters are required in the winter and it is perfect for allowing year round use. We have one fitted in our show complex if you can visit. If not we can find a way to speak with you about the benefits of the system. It is fitted as standard but of course can be omitted from the design if not required. Please find further details on our website.

Kind Regards
