The Thick of It

The Thick of It BBC DVD is a satirical BBC Television political comedy series. It follows the (fictional) Minister for Social Affairs and mainly concentrates on the world of PR and spin from within government. The series spawned the feature film spin-off 'In the loop', starring most of the same cast (although not as the same characters).The Thick of It, produced by Armando Ianucci, is absolutely hilarious. Anyone who enjoyed 'Yes Minister' should definitely give this a try. It manages to effortlessly bridge the gap between being incredibly well-scripted and also very well improvised.The DVD comes with some decent extra features, such as a 'script to screen' documentary detailing the creation of a particular scene. There is also the usual director's commentary available.The only down side is that the DVD, despite being called 'The Thick of It - The Complete Series', does not include the two-part Christmas special.
