Dreadful Service From A Dreadful Company
We purchased a 2 seater sofa and a love seat from Sterling Furniture in Glasgow. After 3 months the foam had collapsed and the cushions looked rucked. The furniture looked 3 years old rather than 3 months.
There is only 2 people in the house so it only had light use.
We contacted Sterling who said the would send out a company to inspect the furniture.
Just as we anticipated the guy arrived and tried to tell us this was normal. We stuck to our guns and he finally agreed that the cushions indeed need changed.
4 months after that the same thing happened again and Sterling just weren't interested.
We took the cushions to a professional upholsterer in Glasgow who told us he gets this all the time from people who buy sofas from Sterling. He told us the foam inserts are just cheap and are wrapped with Dacron.
We paid £300 to have the cushions fixed and after 9 months they are still perfect.
I will never use Sterling Furniture again.
It was the Brandon range. We had to go to a upholstery company near Kinning Park and have the cushions replaced at a cost of £60 each. The chap says he gets Sterling stuff all the time.
Hi, I’m having a similar problem, can you tell me the name of your sofa? I was advised to look for reviews to see if anyone had the same issues with the same sofa as myself. Thanks

Don't Waste Your Money
We bought a chair and sofa in January 2015 and every part of the leather has started to lose the top coat.
We were persuaded to purchase their insurance cover and the salesperson went to great length to tell us he had and had sued it twice without any problem.
Sterling are saying it's too late to do anything, the insurance saying its wear and tear.......only my husband and I at home but we have overused the sofa!!!!!
Over £3000 for a load of rubbish!!!
Avoid this company at all cost.
Had I known of the non existent aftercare I never would have gone near this company, going to the ombudsman re the insurance premium I expect a full refund.
I should have known they were very late on delivery and lent us a sofa and the rest is history.

Dining Table And Chairs
Purchased dining room table and chairs and after 12 months chair leather started to crack and disscolour. I conteacted Sterling regards the chairs however because I repoted the faults after 13 months it was 1 month past guarantee period of 12 months so they could do nothing. All I can say is considerng a piece of furniture is only guaranteed for 12 months sums up the quality of their goods.

Terrible Quality!
Bought a leather sofa and after only a few years lots of leather is peeling off. This sofa has been cared for in exactly the same way as another sofa I have with it being bought from dfs. Shockingly bad condition and something I would expect from a sofa tens of years older. ISterling just say that we haven't looked after it (which is untrue)! NEVER buy a leather sofa from them.
Absolutely shocking quality.

Poor Sales Advice, Knowledge & Exoerience
Visited my local Sterling Furniture Store in Glasgow to buy a corner sofa and found their Italialiving "CADIZ" (Vivaldi) combination matched my size requirements.
The first salesmen initially quoted me the wrong price on my first visit to the store. As on my return visit to order the sofa he re-quoted the sales price up by ~£300. Not to mention him renageing on his offer of ~£200 cash payment discount.
Not only was the prices quoted wrong, I ended up in an argument with him regarding the configuration of the sofa I wanted to buy (i.e. The showroom model was smaller than I wanted) as he couldn't give me a note of the correct sectional codes. He did however say that there was going to be a one-day sale the following week and I could save ~£380 if I could wait that long before placing my order. However that was higher than the price he quoted me with his original discounts a few days earlier. Needless to say I stormed off in frustration with his attitude.
Believe it or not I did return a week later for the one-day sale and for obvious reasons avoided the first salesman. However unbelievably I spoke to a female salesperson and unknowingly to me she was new to the store and again struggled to understand what configuration I was looking to order. Not to mention the fact she had to ask her manager and another experienced salesman to assist her. She was pleasant enough but after my previous bad experience with her male counterpart I was very concerned she would get my order correct. However the paperwork does appear to be OK. Only time will tell when the sofa arrives in ~14 weeks.
I was also frustrated about not getting a cash discount on the sofa as it was going to cost me over £3500. However they were offering a ZERO% interest over 2-years after paying a 20% deposit. All of which again was not clearly explained.
All I can do now is hope the sofa arrives safe and sound with no need for me to deal with their customer services dept. As who knows what that could be like going by my poor sales experience.
I could have purchased the same sofa online from a company in London, but prefer dealing face to face. A decision I may live to regret.
At present Im not a happy customer. Let's hope things improve.

Worst carpets company around pushy sales staff and did not know how to work out sizes.
Very Poor Sales Consultants
I visited sterling to buy new furniture for our newly purchased home and found lounge and dining furniture we liked. However in conversation my wife and I were purely discussing prices from other retailers we had visited. After some time it became very annoying when, the sales consultant continually " rubbished " every retailer we had visited. By the time we got to the carpet department and met a completely different sales person and heard the exact same sales patter we had heard enough.
I share this with consumers after hearing the exact feelings and experience from a work colleague recently so it must be part of Sterlings sales training. Thank you Sterling as my home is completely furnished as I wanted and at a much cheaper price.
