Lovely Local

This is a lovely little pub very close the Richmond Park. It is a little hard to find as it is down a side road and covered in the summer in flowers, however I think this adds to the charm of the place. Very friendly staff who do an excellent job of remembering names and if you go in often enough your drinks too I'm sure. Full of locals who were very friendly and welcoming as I obviously looked like a new comer! Great selection of cask ales and was given a full recommendation of what to have after saying I wasn't sure what I wanted. I had TT Landlord and went down a treat. Very well kept ales.

There was traditional style decor with personal belongs around the pub from the owners and pictures of the staff and regulars too. Wonderful ceiling covered in tap clips from all the guest ales they have. They have 2 permanent (Fullers - London Pride and Young's - Ordinary) then a 4 ales that alternate every 2 days or so. My dog was welcome and was given a water bowl and dog biscuits free of charge. There were home made rolls on the side and a selection of nuts and crisps. All over a lovely experience at this pub, felt more like I was in the country side. Will definitely be returning when i'm next in the area!

The Park Tavern Was A Poor Choice For A Drink. Aft

The Park Tavern was a poor choice for a drink. After visiting Richmond we left by Kingston Gate and found The Park Tavern 400 yards aware in New Road. From the exterior it looked very inviting with some character. However once inside it was a different story. It was really run down some of the seating was deplorable with large amounts of wooden benches and the paintwork was grotty. It was like a public bar throughout of about 30 years ago and a poor one at that. We noticed there was a good choice of beer so decided to stay. Our second bad decision. The price for the beer was ridiculous £3.55 for a pint. We then asked for food and were told they did not serve food. we wife was the only women in a very sparsely populated pub and it lacked atmosphere, In addition we were not made to feel welcome. At least it did not have music blasting out which was the only positive. I wonder with the state of the pub and price of drinks if the this pub will be on the road to closure due to lack of custom which following our visit we can fully understand. Very poor all round.

Park Tavern - This Traditional Pub Is Gradually Be

Park Tavern - This traditional pub is gradually being allowed to be run down. The seating some of which is wooden benches is appalling. The toilets in my opinion are not far off being condemned absolutely awful. they have even continually increased the price of beer to make it the most expensive in the area. Either the landlord is blissfully unaware of the problems or does not care. It used to be a thriving local now except for Friday evenings it is very sparse with customers. I used to go to the Park tavern a couple of times a month but I have now given it up as a lost cause.
