Axminster Tool Centre AWESBS

Bought a workshop vacuum from Axminster for my workshop in France. It has less 'suck' than my domestic vacuum, and only clears around a third of the dust produced by my table saw. Worse, it has a serious safety issue. After around 5 minutes running it gets so hot that the internals of the mains switch fall out, exposing live components. Axminsters help line has so far treated me in a patronising manner (is the hose or filters blocked? Of course I told them I had already checked that!) and so far have ignored the safety issue - why is it getting so hot that the casing is expanding allowing the switch to self- dismantle thus exposing live contacts? Up to now I have found Axminsters service to be very good, but now I'm seriously unimpressed. Also £100 out of pocket and no dust collection in my workshop. It's tool week at Lidl, and I can get a better vacuum from them at around £60. I shouldn't have to resort to this.

Bought a vacuum cleaner from Axminster around 18 months ago. It broke. Still under warranty so send it back. Then the problems started. We were asked to box it up for collection. We did this and put the details on the box we were told to. First we heard nothing, then they had lost it, then they had found it, then implied we had put the wrong details on the box, then blamed the courier for taking it to the wrong place, then it would be back with us by Monday, Wednesday , Friday, next Monday, Wedenesday, next week and so on, it couldn't be sent because they didn't have a van etc, etc, etc. after 3 weeks I requested a new vacuum and was refused. Finally turned up after 3 and a half weeks and having to get very irate with the manager. Poor service and for the sake of customer satisfaction and £100 which the vacuum cost I would have thought a good company would hold its hand up, apologise and put a new vacuum in the post.

Have been a customer with Axminster for many years but never again. Needed another item recently which was on their website. Got it on EBay for £30 less, excellent service and item was with us in less than 24 hours from order.

Be warned if you buy from this company.

I bought a cordless drill 10 months ago, I had troubles almost immediatley with non-charging batteries and or charger, both of which were returned and replaced after a while, only to have the same problem again and again. Now having gone to use the drill again to find flat batteries in charger, I'm told they've stopped making this drill, and there's no equivalent. The technical dept were apparently short staffed and so no one could talk to me -so I'm hoping to get my money back. I'd have been far happier to have been offered a better drill even if I had to pay a little more.

Axminster Power Tools sent me the wrong parts, the spray gun had been used and leaked, they forgot to send me a power cable etc etc...when I informed them of their mistake(s) they treated me like dirt!!

Months later I had my day in court - which I won due to breech of contract - The point is that there was never any need for it to go that far. Their customer service is worse than any other I've ever known.

They assured me what I was buying was what was advertised. Well it wasn't and they couldn't care less.

Avoid them.

I have been using Axminster Tools in Devon for several years since I first discovered them. The quality for price is excellent, I have had no hesitation in recomending them to various friends and family. I will also continue to use them well into the future. On the rare occassion I have had a problem with spare parts due to normal wear & tear they have responded in a most timely fashion and their dispatch generally is next day delivery. If you need any wood working tools, supplies or associated kit Axminster Tools is the 1st place to go. Can't fault them for quality, service and even price.

I've been using my new bandsaw for about a month now and I can say that:

It's well-constructed with useful storage, decent guide fences, specialist blades, variable blade guides, tiltable table, plenty of space for manipulating my workpiece.

It's fast, easy and sturdy and I can hook it up directly to my Axminster dust extraction system with the rest of my machines - all-in-all, an excellent choice for the moderate to heavy user.

The item was shipped in good time with their own delivery service and they even offered an installation option. I really couldn't fault this business - a top-class seller.
