We had our Caterbury conservatory added 2007 after our interest when they were exhibiting on B & Q site. The best room in the house! Reading these one star ratings were at the time the company must have been in turmoil as it was going into liquidation. I'm sorry this happened to the company, and of course as with all news the grotty news makes more newsworthiness for publication. Me singing the company's praises is less likely to be exciting.
I found the experience fron start to finish an interesting experience having a photographic record of every stage of the conservatory building.
The tradesmen were polite, courteous, very tidy and on time.
We did have a problem three years later with the lock on the door, and wondered why it took a ****little longer for response. We eventually did gain a response and someone came along and corrected the problem. Of course, on reflection **** was when the company was in difficulties.
The 10 year warranty if it should be needed (hope not) will still be valid under the Building Standards etc.
I'm sure other clients have had equally a good experience with Canterbury Conservatories. It is just too bad the reviews around the turbulent period of the company have been published.
We need to contact them for a faulty door lock and the number is no longer recognized. Can you suggest how to get hold of them to see if the fault can be fixed as it is still under warranty? Many thanks

conservatories4u reseller for K2 conservatory manufacturer.my experience from start of delivery not within 5 miles. no complete parts list,cill no joiners,panels2mm short in each panel,spacers 18mm no 16mm wallplate 2 different sizes1x110mm 1x 100mm,corner post 36mm short, eaves beam 36mm too long, wall plate 36mm too long,spar cappings 10mm too long,flashing tape 14 foot supplied for 50 foot conservatory.polycarbonate roof sheeting not square ie 740mm top 750mm bottom, no end closures supplied. incomplete instructions on fitting sequence. other than all the above a good system product but quality control totally rubbish.some good help from customer services, technical support i do not think that they have any experience at assembling thier products.

NO, you cant. They have gone. Please address your concerns to Staffordshire Trading Standards, and if you took finance, informa the finance company under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act.

Ok, It Seems As If Cc Have Gone Bust. Into Admini
OK, it seems as if CC have gone bust. Into administrtaion in November and gone by March, anyone with incomplete work has my sympathy. Anyone without independant warranty (like me) and has finance through Barclays (BPF) needs make a claim under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act to BPF, keep at it as Barclays are playing hard ball.
No Dan, sorry. I am just another customer who has been left to pick up the pieces. I contacted Cosumer direct a few week ago, and Staffordshire Trading Standards called me back and requested various items of documentation. I think the best course of action will be to contact consumer direct and trading standards. Good luck

Just Had Our Conservatory Completed By Canterbury
Just had our conservatory completed by Canterbury Conservatories Limited. Ordered December 2010 finally completed 22nd March 2011. Totally agree with other reviews on this site. Customer service is non-existent, plenty of false promises but rarely a call back. They are issuing with the order an insurance backed guarantee with Consumer Protection Association (CPA) which we duly sent off after completion and this morning we have received a letter from the CPA stating they are no longer a member and application is declined. Tried phoning 01283 814587 - now non-existent and their freephone number is a different company - Vital Energy - Guarantee not worth paper printed on. Assume they have now gone out of business - sorry for anyone who have not had works completed. Have contacted Trading Standards in this regard. Not had final receipt for monies paid nor have they answered our letters regarding their service.

Canterbury Conservatories, just like most people in this thread, i too have been experiencing problems with this outfit. We finally have a completed conservatory which seems OK, however dealing with them is painful, Tim, Bob and Co. have interesting ways to deal with customers. The main problem is the lack of warranty, the website details that they use IWA, IWA do not issue warrantees for CC. Staffordishire Trading Standards are very, very interested to hear from customers so my advice is to contact consumer direct. Also if you have finance agreeements you should be covered by Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act. Good luck.
Canterbury Conservatories are / were part of the Burnden group.
These now see to have morphed into K2 Conservatories, who, despite having the same phone number (0800 2988 500), deny they are anything to do with Canterbury.
Basically, it's just a bunch of cowboy rip-off merchants who get away with their nasty little scams by changing company names (for example they were Kesterwood conservatories for a brief period in 2010 before changing back to Canterbury), changing mangaing group names, going into administration etc.
Burnden are associated with Vital Solar Energy (who take credit card payments for Canterbury), Vital are based at Burnden House in Blackburn.
Strangely enough, Vital Solar Energy are NOT listed at companies house.
Curioser and curioser, if you phone VSE (01254 296 000) and ask to talk to Canterbury, you'll be put through to K2.

Ordered Conservatory in January, very little contact once contract is signed, they do not provide any information and will not call you back despite repeated phone calls and emails for progress updates, fortunately conservatory is not yet built so just have to go through the pain of trying to get my deposit back. Even my request to cancel my order is now being ignored with no responses. Wish me luck...

Their Service Is Department Is The Worst In The Wo
Their service is department is the worst in the world, the fob you off with repeated lies. I have now waited in on 7 different days for their engineer to attend to fix a faulyy french door. They don't turn up, they never ring up to let you know & don't ring back when they say they will. The service department is a total waste of space they always promise that they will attend next time and never do. Their warranty is worthless because no one ever turns up. They ignore all your complaints, if you are thinking about using them - DON'T!

I Wouldnt Even Recommend These People To My Worst
I wouldnt even recommend these people to my worst enemy. ThE mistake we made was trusting and thinking they were connected with B&Q and not reading reviews first. They seemed very nice and willing to help to begin with, but now 4 months on, we still have a leaking conservatory with nails and wires Sticking out here and there and a terrible draught.we have been constantly calling to get a response and have received so many empty promises. BE CAREFUL, BE VERY CAREFUL!!
