I Had Won A Meal For Two At The Butcher's Arm In A
I had won a meal for two at The Butcher's Arm in a raffle at the Hepworth FC raffle, so I booked My husband and I in for dinner on a Friday night. When we arrived at the restaurant, they knew nothing about the prize we had won even though we had mentioned it when booking so we had explain everything all over again which was a little embarrassing. Once their memory had been refreshed, they sat us down at a table by the entrance which was a very busy spot with people constantly passing us. They then took our drinks order which never arrived as they'd completely forgotten to bring it over. We got the impression we were second class diners as they knew that we would not be paying the bill at the end of the meal.
Despite the time it took for them to arrive, our starters were more like an amuse bouche than a first course. By the time we had eaten our tiny, bland 'starters', we were so hungry that we would have been happy to eat a scabby dog so continued with the meal and ordered a main each.
I ordered the sea bream and my husband ordered the halibut, both of which were extremely dry. My husband sent back his main but as we had waited so long, I was absolutely starving so I carried on eating.
We were made to feel very uncomfortable and there was a horrible, unfriendly atmosphere in the restaurant. We didn't bother to stay for pudding even though we wouldn't have to pay for it. We made the waiting staff aware of our concerns but they completely dismissed them.
We were both really ill during the night too which we called twice to tell them about the following day. The chef responsible wouldn't discuss our complaint with us. They couldn't have been less interested.
We have eaten at many restaurants all over Europe, but this has to be THE worst dining experience we've ever had. We WILL NOT be returning!

Found A Clump Of Matted Hair In A Side Salad. The
Found a clump of matted hair in a side salad. The chef/owner refused to apologise and said that it wasn't in there when it left his kitchen and in not so many words accused us of planting it there to get a free meal. A simply apology and maybe a free glass of wine would have done. Would not recommend going again.
