On A Warm Evening, We Headed To Nosh Which Lies Wi

On a warm evening, we headed to NoSh which lies within three miles of our home. We have always liked the quirky decor and menu and I would say standards have risen here in the past year or so. Our Chinese roast duck was up to standard and we enjoyed a hot pot of chicken giblets with a sauce thickened with Claret - real hearty cooking. Pigeon breast was my wife's choice. She likes it pink and juice and the grapefruit sauce with onion was as unusual s it was delicious. To drik the Pettilado from the Italian producer Amanti is first-class and the trendy red, Le Cote Rouge de Bonnair. Great service and not expenseive at £55.

The Wife And I Had A Rare 'night Off', Daughter's

The wife and I had a rare 'night off', daughter's first sleep over, and decided to treat ourselves to a meal out. We have enjoyed the other Franco brothers eateries so headed off to the trendy Almondbury 'NoSH'. We parked up right outside the front door and dashed through the rain to the converted terraced weavers cottage. We were welcomed by the freshfaced staff and after placing drinks orders were ushered through to a cosy alcove where we could peruse the menu. We are both non-meat eaters (just fish), and usually have a fairly limited choice, but not tonight! Lots of really interesting goodies. My wife went for the Tandoori prawns and I plumped for the brie and ginger spring rolls, an alternative to the usual deep fried wedges. Both were great, just the right sized portion, not too much to put you off the main. My wife had the tuna and I had the Sea Bass. Again both good with lovely fresh vegetables. All was washed down with an ice cold chardonny from Oz at a reasonable £16. We don't usually indulge in a pud but this time we didn't feel overstuffed so opted for the chef's platter, you must share one of these! Great value at £8, and plenty for two. It was basically a bit of everything, in fact quite a lot of everything. We finished with an espresso and a single malt. Altogether a great meal, I gladly paid the £65 bill.

I think we will be going back to try the limited £9 menu.

Thanks for a great meal.

Craig.

I Ate At Nosh Restaurant In Almondbury, Huddersfie

I ate at Nosh Restaurant in Almondbury, Huddersfield in August 2002 on a Thursday night. I enjoyed a well cooked (although not perhaps exceptional) meal and generous portions. The place was packed and had a good lively atmosphere.

Average meal cost: £15 per head plus wine.
