Fablon Fablon Self Adhesive Film Granite Gloss - Black

I've used Fablon before and I know how tricky it can be sometimes and the effect it can have on the colour of the air!

However, I saw this stuff in my local B&Q and thought it would be worth a punt to give a temporary facelift to our kitche worktops.

Eventually I got around to doing the job just before Christmas and I was pleasantly surprised to find that this black gloss Fablon is easier to apply than the normal, thinner Fablon.

Applying carefully, it took a coupl of hours to complete the job on three tops and the finished effect is brilliant, friends and family though that we'd bought new granite worktops.

This Fablon is not flimsy so is unlikely to fold onto itself but you still need to take care as if the adhesive side touches itself it will stick pretty hard and youi could damage the material when trying to pry apart.

When trimming, it is always a good idea to use a brand new stanley knife blade.

When joining two pieces, rather than trying to match the straight edges, overlap the second piece over the previously laid piece by about 5mm and use your stanley knife along a metal ruler to cut through both and peel away the excess and discard. This will ensure that the join is seamless.

The black granite Fablon looks so good that we've decided there's no need to buy a new worktop.
