Sofa Falling Apart
Don't waste your money on The English Sofa Company's furniture. After 'enduring' 4 years of light use, my suite has splitting seams, a broken castor wheel, loose apholstery pins and frames that move. I have complained several times but The English Sofa Company has largely ignored my points, queries and questions. When I have been able to coax a response from them, they elect to simply repeat that any repairs would be at my own expense. Very frustrating to say the least when all I want is an explanation of why they feel they are exempt their obligations to repair a product that clearly has not met reasonable expectations of durability.

Lost My Sofa
I purposefully looked for an ex-display sofa to ensure a quick turn around to furbish a rental property. I was told the sofa will be delivered within 3 weeks so I thought that was a brilliant option! I called at least 10 times to try and get more information on a delivery date and time, only to be told it is being processed by several people. I even received a phone call on a Saturday asking me to pay the outstanding amount after I made full payment at the time of placing my order. I eventually said that I will have to charge them money as I can't let me flat due to being misinformed about the delivery date. The next day I received a text message from the Chesterfield sofa company confirming a delivery date for the next week. Having asked for annual leave to wait for a delivery between 8am and 16h00 I was called this morning to be informed that parts of the sofa are missing and they are unable to deliver the sofa, 4 weeks after ordering the sofa. They could offer me a refund!?! I enquired about alternative sofas as I don't need a refund and wait 12 weeks, I need a sofa now. I was offered an alternative- the exact sofa I ordered but in a different type of leather and asked to pay an additional £90 due to the different type of leather. Despite asking to talk to customer services I was told they do not have that department and I could only deal with the sales manager that would not waiver the £90.
This place is a shambles, I do not know how they get anything done. Do not order from them.

We ordered a sofa which was delivered on 16th December - one of the cushions was faulty - according to the company this was fault of the courier. Due to Xmas period we had to wait to get cushion picked up for replacement. We waited 3 weeks and then had to chase customer service to get an update. We were told the cushion would be delivered back to us on the Monday - by Tuesday morning it still hadnt arrived. We had emailed but received no reply. We called on Tues morning, waited over an hour for a call back, rang again to then be told by Sales Director that cushion hadnt been collected by courier on Friday and nobody had chased this up. Despite numerous requests to get a the cushion to us by the following day we were told we woul have to wait until Thursday! Am now waiting to see if it arrives and whether it is 100% perfect! Attitude was very poor with no empathy whatsoever and so flexibilty - certainly not willing to go extra mile to fix an issue where a customer has had an incomplete sofa for over a month

Just received my new sofa today, delighted with the service, they very helpfully held my order as the builders were running behind schedule. The quality is beautiful I would definitely recommend choosing one of the more expensive fabrics you can really feel the quality.

Don'tbuy A Sofa Bed, The Cushions Won't Fit
We have purchased 2 sofas, one normal, one sofa bed.
The cushions on the sofa fit perfectly...which is where the problem arises. Due to the mechanism within the sofa bed the height of the seating is raised by about 2 inches. When the cushions, which are designed for a normal sofa, are put on there they are also raised by about 2 inches meaning that they do not fit flush on the arms. If you fit them flush to the arms it leaves you with a nice 2-3 inch gap in the middle. This is not my conclusion, this is what the technician advised us when he came to fit the beading which had been missed off. I have asked if they have supplied the correct cushions or if they can send me the next size up....no they can’t as they feel they have supplied the correct ones. Thanks for your help! Apparently, according to ‘customer care’ it is our fault as we are not dressing the cushions properly! Look @planet_rich808 on twitter and make your own mind up.
Not to mention the mechanism not working to begin with, 2 technician visits – well 3 if you include the one that didn’t turn up, beading being missed off the bottom of the sofa (customer care moaned that this was “inconvenient” as we hadn’t noticed it before....even though the sofa had been returned and had gone through their quality control twice).
As mentioned in other reviews, customer service nonexistent never had a phone call back and never an apology for the issues we’ve had.
My advice would be:
1) If you are thinking about purchasing a sofa bed, don’t. The cushions do not fit as they are designed for a sofa, not sofa bed.
2) Do not expect any sort of help from ‘customer care’ IF you do have any problems.
The sale of goods act 1974 (revised) states I have 6 months to raise any complaints, I am well with that. The complaint was raised verbally when I requested a new mechanism as the one provided was faulty. You agreed there was also a fault with the cushions at that time and refilled them when you collected the sofa in September. The problem is not with the filling, your technician advise why they do not fit, as outlined above. You technician was putting on beading which your quality control had missed twice, not to look at the cushions, his report clearly states we are still not happy with them. The pictures you provided still show gaps each side by the arms as the cushions had been pushed together to hide the 3" gap. No amount of dressing will hide this. I am not being unreasonable, all I want are cushions which fit and match the fit of the other sofa. provided. As you have blocked me from facebook and twitter I am unable to show customers the cushions, this would enable them to decide if the cushions are correct, that fact you have done this says it all.
We are sorry you feel this way we have apologised to you and tried multiple times to address this with you. We have sent an independent technician from a leading furniture repair company who found no fault with your cushions and provided photographic of the cushions sitting correctly on the sofabed. The close up images you are provided are not representative of the entire correctly dressed unit.
We should also point out we've never changed the cushions and although you've had your furniture since early July its only since September you've raised any complaint on the fitting of the cushions.
The Best Lrather Sofas Available.
I spent about 18 months looking around at sofas . We got fed up of the pressure in the SCS DFS type shops as we had very specific requirements ! My husband is tall and wanfed a head rest .As well as this I didnt want anything reclining as we had had that type before .There was no advantage to that for us.
After not finding anything.I spent every evening looking on the internet. We were prepared to travel to find what we wanted ! We went on a 150 mile round trip to Burnley.This proved unsuccessful .After a couple more weeks om the internet we set off one very wet Saturday morning to Bacup. We struggled to find the place and when we eventually did we were unsure about it .We were at first really put off by the showroom .It was grim and cold ! However our two sofas and a chair are definaely thr best leather ones available .We know we've seen them all . SO If you want beautiful leather English sofas is the place !
As well as this we were quoted 10/12 weeks they were ready after 6 Couldn't believe it!

Very Good Quality, Beautiful Sofa !
We ordered the Cambridge chesterfield sofa in antique blue about 14 months ago. It looks beautiful in our living room and the quality is amazing. We also have a fabric corner sofa and are looking to replace it by another chesterfield from the English sofa company. We highly recommend them.

I'd Have Been Better Going To Dfs
Took three attempts to get leather swatches delivered. Ordered a wing chair in January, didn't get delivered till end of March, a couple of weeks longer than I'd been originally told. The chair was not as I had ordered, they had to take it back to the factory and alter it. The chair was also a lot smaller than advertised, but they simply claimed it was "within manufacturing tolerance", and didn't want to know. Wasted a lot of money with them as the chair is too small for me, wish I'd gone to DFS instead.

Lovely Company - Great Sofas
I bought a 3 seater, 2 seater and chair from The English Sofa Company nearly two years now. The Sofas are as comfy today as the day they were delivered. The sofas are in our family room, used daily by my husband and I, but also enjoyed by our extended family at Christmas and Birthday celebrations.
I found the shopping experience pleasant, finding the company online and then realising they were in Manchester, meant I could go and see the range of sofas they offered. I especially liked the opportunity to see the factory and meet people who were involved in manufacturing the furniture. I found the sales staff helpful in explaining the different leather options, and all my questions were satisfactorily answered.
The only problem was choosing which sofa to go for, in the end we decided on a traditional style sofa called the Lincoln. I would have no hesitation in reccomending The English Sofa Company as both the service and quality of furniture exceeded my expectations.

Comfy Leather Sofa
Bought the Atlanta leather 3str sofa and chair for approx £2400. We picked a leather and fabric mix model, with leather on the arms and a range of fabrics on the cushions as as scatters. I have to say the sofa is really comfy. I'd go as far to say it's comfier than my bed. I would reccomend this sofa to anyone wanting a real sink into sofa, but it's not suitable if you want a hard or firm sofa. My gran struggles to get out of the sofa because it is faily deep and very soft, so it's not great for everyone but we love it !
