Groupons - Too Good To Be True
When you buy through Groupon, they only get less than half of the money. This means they need to make it up elsewhere and unfortunately they have resorted to very sharp practices and blatant lies & confusion to make up the difference. Not one other group when we were there wasn't tricked. Firstly, they tried to have us eating sirloin when the deal was for steak pie. Give them the benefit of the doubt an honest mistake? Nah they then said a starter was included. It wasn't so they tried to claim after bringing out the 'lite bites' menu that was just an optional extra. Except the boy had said you can have a dessert or starter with the deal..but only a starter from the lite bites menu "i'm afraid". Classic misinformation there and trying to rely on punters greed followed, the girl said we have so many offers that's why the confusion. I said really, yes on several deals sites, but only 2 different offers I can see - the steak pie, veg and chips (these sides being intended for 2 at best, smaller than the usual portion and same size served for a group of 4). Sticky toffee pudding was included in the deal. I wonder if we hadn't been so forceful after the chap said "any dessert" from the chalk board whether this wouldn't have been stage 3 of their ploy. Will never go again. The other negative reviewers have hit the nail on the head.
