“Nothing clear, no personal support, no faith”

From day 1 of taking out an AA Annual Travel Insurance policy there were questions arising, for which adequate answers were not provided, no personal support available - in short, it was such bad service that it could be compared in one's anxiety to being a sham. I would advise anyone to consider other companies for travel insurance.

“Cancelled my policy after 6 weeks”

Took my money six weeks ago and called me up to say they made a mistake so cancelled my policy I could have been on holiday and found out I've no insurance due to their failure

“no ability to communicate on every medium”

I am travelling and require travel insurance . I have waited over a week for a call back that I was assured would be within 48 hours , so I can get a policy underway. I have registered four times with the overload operator for call backs. I have been waiting for a total of three hours today to get to speak to someone . I get the over load line mostly , which put you in a queue for a call back. However I did get to speak to a girl who had no ability to provide me with any information, in regards to my previous medical history and other questions. She said to refer to the policy. I have no ability to find the policy details as I cant get information as the online site it as is not working and unable to send me to the comprehensive policy details. I wrote to allied directly to say its urgent as I have to quote my travel policy insurance number to secure booking and payment is due tomorrow. Their reply was automated to say if urgent , to refer to your policy for the emergency telephone number. Unbelievable!!!! Im affiliated with AA so prefer to use their insurance for the discount involved. This is the most frustrating disorganise and incompetant procedure to buy a product off them Ive ever known. Sort it out guys

“It's not AA it's a nightmare ”

A very stressful ongoing experience dealing with the AA partner Allianz.we were sold the Policy in an AA shop but if something goes wrong you face horrendous online issues, no real person at AA can help you. They won't be acknowledging your email but will keep asking for documents which already have been submitted. Its been months back and forth, very tricky to talk to a real person. We are seniors struggle a bit with all the online stuff, but that makes no difference, you can place a call with a senior manager but thry never return your call. We are now faced with Ombudsman and looking at lawyer, what a disappointment be very careful choosing your travel Insurance fir goodness sake dp not choose this lot.

“WORST INSURANCE”

Lodge my claim 2 days after incident. They will just keep on acknowledging your email and asking for documents which I have already submitted. Its been 2 months now and I haven't received any compensation. Such a waste of money. UNRELIABLE INSURANCE Not recommendable.

“Renewal”

4 days of trying to get an answer on the phone number they list 30 minutes each time telling me I am moving up the queue and never answered. Only to update some medical details for renewal which each time we tried to do on web site resulted in a page of computer programming type and nowhere to go. Same problem on my house Insurance so AA binned and gone elsewhere

“Never deal with AA insurance”

This is absolutely useless travel insurance. It doesn't cover most of the things which could potentially happened with you during your holiday. We had missed the departure because of the Lufthansa fault and will have to buy a new return ticket for my son. So when I try to make a claim for Missed Departure I’ve been told that this case not covered by Insurance and it's liability of the company who provide the service. I will NEVER EVER use the AA for anything again

After having to cancel my holiday due to being admitted to hospital four months later I am still trying to claim my money back . Do not go with this company they are quick to take your money but do not want to pay out on a genuine claim . Disgusting

Never get out travel insurance with AA! My laptop and passport got robbed from the boot of the car in Italy. I was told on the first phone call that I would be covered for 150 euro for the laptop and my travel and passport expenses would be covered, which was a total lie. Took two months to get a second phone call from the claims officer handling my case explaining what was going on. I kept making appointments and he would never ring me when he was meant to. Got told every excuse they could think off. Every time I rang over the two month period they were having apparent phone trouble. It was as if everything they did was to try and stop me going ahead with the claim. After two months of torture I was told they would be paying me 50 euro, I laughed at them. I then told them to return all original documents immediately as well as a letter stating why they were not covering the other items. I am now waiting two weeks and no sign of them. You are by far the biggest joke of a company out there. Why put someone through all this hassle to save yourself such a small amount of money. Never experienced anything like this before. Just to also point out I have never written any sort of review online, but this had to be said.

“3.5 month trip Auz, Nz Asia”

3.5 month trip Auz, Nz Asia, got airsick on initial route to Dubai, sent to medical centre, when came out my plane was gone, had long wait and missed a connecting flight from Brisbane to cairns on new years day expensive, as the airline did make it up to me, AA refused to pay for my lost flight. These people will dodge out if they can...legalised swindlers Is paying insurance a waste of time ?????

“Untrustworthy, Incompetent, Horrific”

Do not get travel insurance from AA. My luggage went missing in August and AA have still not given me any compensation for it. Their handlers are always "out from work sick" or "have left work for the day" or "are no longer working with us". They are now looking for receipts for every item that was in my bag. They are untrustworthy and incompetent. I have been more than patient and I will be making a claim with the Small Claims' Court. I will never get insurance from AA again and I highly advise you to steer clear of them.

“The most unhelpful and rude company ever!”

This was a nightmare from the start. We went with the AA because we thought we knew the company, but it's not the AA, it's the company that handles all of their work that's the problem, and by extension, the AA. We went to a private osteopath with a herniated disc, in a European country where free healthcare take an awful long time and a lot of fuss. After 2 appointments with her and not being able to do work, our money was running out so we requested direct billing for an MRI scan. The lady on the phone was incredibly rude and told us we didn't know what we were doing and we shouldn't phone without looking through the paper work (which says nothing about an MRI scan) and then continued to shout at the receptionist at the private medical clinic when she tried to help. The medical company put in a complaint about this person on the phone, and we have heard nothing more about it - this was 3 weeks ago. We have had several appointments since then, but we still can't get an MRI on the insurance. It's been four weeks and out of all the money we have spent trying to get this sorted, they've paid for £30. They now won't help us get home either, because they want a barrage of other tests which have nothing to do with the issue. Waiting for these tests will take another 6 weeks, so we're missing Christmas as well. Not only do we have all of this, but it's illegal to sleep in our campervan where we are, so we are breaking the law, but the AA won't help us if we move on and haven't helped us with somewhere to stay in the interim. Despicable.

“Go somewhere else”

Delayed flights, lost baggage, had to make alternative arrangements kept all the receipts thinking i would get something back ? €000000 There must be better insurance out there, you will be on the phone for ever and a sweet talking gentleman will tell you he will sort it our for you, forget that. For such a long established company like the AA i was disappointed. I won't be renewing my insurance here.

“Bad communication”

Be careful if you purchase this as they do not tell you that somewhere in small print they automatically renew this the following year and take the money from your account unless you contact them to say you no longer require. This is not just with Direct Debit - they take it out of your Debit Card also. Mine was deducted from my account a whole week before it was due despite the fact I had no intention of renewing this as we will not be travelling abroad for the forseeable future. The same also happened with my car insurance with AA even though I had renewed with another company. I subsequently received an insurance disc and so had 2 - one from my new insurer and one from AA which they then had the cheek to ask me to post back when I called them and said I would destroy it. However, there are less honest people out their and issuing of insurance discs should be monitored more closely. They need to make their documentation more obvious to the customer. Funnily enough my house insurance was due with them and I had to call them the day before to renew or they were going to cancel- I had paid all my policies with the same Debit Card!

They caught me up too. No intention to renew my policy with them but reliase my credit card being charged without my knowledge. Rang them to get refund and of course not a hope. Told me I was agreed auto renew by clicking small print.

“Paid all my medical expenses without any quibbles....”

Broke my arm and ankle snowboarding. AA paid for a on piste and helicopter rescue while I was still on holiday. They then paid for all off my medical fees, medications, taxi back from hospital and my lift pass which I was unable to use. I kept all my receipts and invoices for everything, sent them to the AA and I was reimbursed within 4 weeks. Very happy with the service. Customer service was very good too. It cost me £15. Bargain!!

“Don't buy this”

Purchased AA Travel Insurance as The AA was a company I thought I knew. All went well until I was mugged while on holiday and I tried to put in a claim. First of all the insurance isn't an AA product, the AA are only the agents. I had to phone a company I had never heard of. I was sent a huge form to fill in but was told over the phone that my mobile phone wasn't covered and I would have to pay the first £50 of the claim on the other items, which barely came to this in any case. I'd read my policy and thought I was covered. however the wording and layout of the policy documents were so confusing and contradictory, i was told that although there was a mugging category, my claim had to made under lost of valuables. It seemed that no valuables are covered in any instance. So everything you bring on holiday with you, your phone, your kindle, your iPad , iPod, camera etc is NOT covered. I was mugged on holiday and after contacting th AA, I felt I was mugged again. This policy was not fit for purpose, if the wording had been clearer I would never have bought it. The AA could have cared less, it wasn't their product even, a fact that wasn't made clear At point of purchase either. Beware and be very sure of what you are buying as it could cost you dear in the long run.

really terrible experience with this company after experience lifechanging injury on holiday in Austria. So far have not seen a single penny and I have lost count of the hours I have spent submitting documents and calling them. AVOID AVOID AVOID.

“Very difficult to make a claim would not use again ...”

I had to come back early from my holiday as my mum was very ill and i was advised to come back early by the hospital. When I went to make my claim for the flight I had to pay for to come home early AA Travel insurance made it very difficult to make my claim. The wanted a letter from my mum's doctor which was very difficult to get, so I asked if they could send me a form for the doctor to complete, but they could not do this as they don't have any forms. My sister made the same claim with her insurance company and they managed to supply her with a form. I did send the form my sister had to them which had the same questions that they required, but they would not except this. This claim is still ongoing.

“Awful Service, Long telephone hold queues, No resoultion”

Awful Insurance, The AA left me stranded in Canada with no insurance (very hard to get insurance once you've left the country) on a WINTER SPORTS HOLIDAY, because I couldn't get through to them on a bank holiday to extend the duration...despite sending multiple (unanswered) emails. Not very helpful in any context, basically got given the thanks for your previous money but go away now! Will never ever use them again, they ruined the end of my holiday! You would think that the AA would have a 24hr line for 'customers' aboard to call up and extend their policy, no?
