Likewise my previous 3 Philips shavers, the Philips HQ8894 Aquagenic 8000 Sensotec Men's Shaver again is a super piece of machinery. Easy to clean, and I prefer it over my Braun vibra shaver that needs new shaving coils every 8 months...

I Have Had It At Least 6 Or 7 Years Now And It Has

I have had it at least 6 or 7 years now and it has been faultless. I changed the heads about 18 months ago as the old ones were not as good as they had been and the new ones were great. A brilliant shaver well worth the money for me. I have used cheaper units but always got skin irritation and/or a poor shave.

I'm very surprised at the other reviews here. I suspect it just because people have found somewhere to vent their anger at a faulty unit?!

I have had the Philips HQ8894 Aquagenic 8000 Sensotec Men's Shaver now for over 3 years. I got it shortly after they came out. My previous model was a cheaper Philips, which was OK as long as the stubble was not too long.

This however is the best shaver I have ever had!! It cuts very well, and does not nip or pull even long hairs. I have had it for its entire life, with no change of blades, and I have used it every day faultlessly. The battery life is amazing too. Even after 3 years I only charge it every three months, using it every day!

I will not be buying a Philips shaver again. The television I bought was problematic too, and when they changed it, the new one was the same.

After 20 Years Of Using Philishaves I Have Decided

After 20 years of using Philishaves I have decided that all their more expensive models are an overpriced con designed to take away your cash, but with an expected lifetime of no more than the 2 years for which they are guaranteed, and often in fact the lifespan is much less.

All the alleged more clever shaving systems of the more expensive Philishave models are in fact marketing hype, and you will get just as good a shave on their latest 2 head battery powered model that costs £10. The key factor as to how good a shave you get from a Philishave model is how old the heat units and cutters are. Once they are over 6 months old shave quality deteriorates radically. And Philips only sells replacement heads and cutters at high prices, so on a battery model you are better off binning it and buying another one.

The Philishave shaving system gives a fantastic non-cutting shave to anyone with sensitive skin, but the shavers are not at all durable, so I would recommend buying the cheap battery powered units and throwing them away after 6 months, while using either cheap AA alkaline batteries at 32 for £8 from ToysRUs, or alternatively rechargeable batteries. Although as rechargeables have a shorter life between replacement, I personally wouldn't bother with the rechargeable battery method.

If you spend £200 on a Philishave you can expect to bin it in around 2 years time. Even if the far more flimsy head system doesn't fail on you, the wet environment to which the units are subjected reliably, ensures that their mains charging circuit packs up after two years. I have owned six or seven of the more expensive models, and I can speak from bitter but predictable experience!

I've used a Philips Philishave 905 every day for 15 years, and only now is it fading. No service, no blade change, same battery. Seems you're unlucky! Mat

Considering The Expense I Have Gone To So As To Fi

Considering the expense I have gone to so as to fix the two mentioned problems I will not be buying another Philips Shaver as Philips have obviously reduced manufacturing costs by making the head out of plastic and their design improvement seems to be exactly the opposite. Such a pity as Philips used to be a good brand.

I Have Used The Philips Hq8894 Aquagenic 8000 Sens

I have used the Philips HQ8894 Aquagenic 8000 Sensotec shaver for a few months now, and it has proven to be a comfortable close shave. I recently dropped it and the plastic swivel head has broken, which means it is now unusable. I would buy another, but it has one very annoying feature. and that is it drops cut hair from the head unit as you are shaving - I believe this is a design fault. I will be trying a Braun next.

Philips Hq8894 Aquagenic 8000 Sensotec Men's Shave

Philips HQ8894 Aquagenic 8000 Sensotec Men's Shaver: I last used a philishave about 8 years ago. My main reasons for stopping was the skin irritation and the dead skin and hair that needs cleaning out. Things have moved on and this shaver is brilliant. Smaller and quieter than the one I used to have and the sensitivity control is excellent.

Being able to rinse it under the tap is great and it drys nicely in its clock stand. A typical shave is 4 mins so a 100 min charge will last several weeks and only an hour for a full charge.

Main drawback is price but shop around you can get them new for £140 from shavers.co.uk. Or use pricerunner.co.uk to find the best price (got mine for £112).
