Bosch AHS 48-16 Electric Hedge Cutter

I have had one of these for more years than I can remember. It has cut huge hedges, remaining sharp and extremely effective. One of the best garden purchases I have ever made.

Failed after 2 years - switch failed. Have had multiple sets fail. Finally spoke to a Bosch distributor who told me that these are a sub-Bosch price point product. If you want real Bosch quality avoid the -16 model range; its all rubbish. Buy the -24, the -26 or the Pro models.

Got one of these about 6 years ago and it stopped working last year. 5 years use sounds a lot, but translates to being used just ten times! The motor brushes were worn out. When I looked for replacements, they were no longer available. Very poor after sales, for a poor enough product.

Bought by my mum to do her hedges, I used it only 3 times from new until I accidently caught a piece of metal fence wire in the blades with it, it cut out and wouldn't restart. Upon closer examination the force of the motor stopping caused the plastic casing of the whole unit to split and the internals to fall out of place, destroying the motor in the process!! Atrocious product design which is typical of modern German engineering... AVOID ALL BOSCH PRODUCTS!!!

The Bosch AHS 48-16 Electric Hedgecutter has very sharp blades and is easy to use when new but the blades wore out after 18 months of hard work on large hedges. I can't buy a set of replacement blades from anywhere.
