Terrible Customer Service
During the weekend of the 8th October I asked my son to place certain items into his basket using his Amazon account. Pending payment, we purchased an Amazon Gift card for £50 to pay for the goods. This was bought using a credit card at the Wilkinson's Store, Perry Barr One Stop Shopping Centre Birmingham. I was reluctant to use my card online.
On Sunday 15th October we attempted to pay for goods in the basket with my son scratching off the back of the card to reveal the claim code. In going into his account and attempting to redeem it, a message returned that the claim code was invalid. We tried several times with no luck.
On Monday 16th October we returned to the store and approached the Customer Service desk where two women who were not very helpful told us that there was nothing they could do as they were only selling the cards on behalf of another party (Amazon) and that we should contact Amazon. They gave us a contact number which turned out to be incorrect. My son got then got in touch with Amazon Customer Service himself on Tuesday via telephone and gave much of the above information. He was told that the card had not been activated and that Amazon could not activate it from their end either. He was sent an email back and told to go back to the store, show the email and where they should be able to sort matters by giving a refund. They requested the store contact Amazon but this fell on deaf ears.
I left work a little earlier on a Tuesday to attend the store with my son at about 17.45. Again we approached the Customer Service desk and spoke to another lady who appeared to be either a senior sales assistant or supervisor as she was ordering staff to lock up as it was near closing. She checked the receipt and number and said that the card had been activated at the till and that she was not able to give a refund without the manager. She however contacted their Customer Services and on speaking to them, they refused to reimburse or issue us with a new card saying that it was for Amazon to sort the problem and to contact them again.
We had now entered into a 'not our fault' zone going backwards and forwards between Amazon and Wilko.
We had been to the store now three times, contacted Amazon twice by telephone and through three emails without a satisfactory conclusion. We were now becoming stressed by the ordeal.
Since we entered faithfully into a contract with Wilko/Amazon (seller) and ourselves (purchaser) either or both were in breach of the Trades Description Act and believe that since we had been sold faulty goods and were not able to use the goods as described, we were entitled to a refund at least. We were made to feel as though we were trying to cheat the system. Shame on you Wilkinsons now trading as Wilko.
We have been disappointed that matters could not have been resolved locally.
Wilko have clearly shown little regards for us as customers and we felt fobbed off by their attitude. There was no attempt to rectify the situation as they could have done.
The store was once reasonable but has rapidly deteriorated with poor lines and poor staff attitudes.

I have just bought some item for the garden that are very awkward to carry and the sales assistant very kindly asked if I needed help to load the car.A very helpful young man pushed the trolley out to the car and loaded it up.l would like to thank him and let you know what a very kind friendly staff member he is.Which are really rare to find nowadays

Avoid This Retailer
There were no staff members available to ask questions and when I finally found somebody they were seriously lacking in brain power.
It looks like a retailer that is pure profit driven and doesn't care about it's staff or customers.
Stock layout is confusing and own brand products are really poor and break within days.
I can see why this retailer is struggling as b and m are much better value for money and the range has a better look and feel to it.

What has happened to it,use to go in regular,went in today could not believe the difference.
Has gone very expensive,you can get things a lot cheaper in other shops will not shop there again.
Delivered To Wrong Address
I ordered a tv unit and specifically requested it to be delivered to my work address as like most people I was working and no-one was at home. They delivered it to my home address and posted a note saying it was left with a neighbour however I didnt see the small note for ages as it was stuck in my letterbox and I obviously wasnt looking for it because I thought it was going to my work. This is a bit ridiculous cosidering you are asked if you want it to be delivered to an alternative addtess to the billing addtess. Its not hard!

Everytime I write a bad review, I try to balance it with a good review for another retailer. Lately, John Lewis have provided me with shoddy goods, and ineffectual customer service to sort out problems: £600 worth of business.
Now by contrast, I bought a set of crockery from Wilkos, for about £20, and one of the plates cracked when I put a hot curry on it. The value of the item was about £2, but Wilkos replaced it - no questions asked - and delivered the replacement to me. Not only that, I forgot to tell them I'd moved house, and learned that they had twice tried to deliver to the old address. I got back to Wilkos and was very apologetic, but no problem, they just delivered again to my new address. Now that is fantastic service.

Wilkinsons is a terrible place to shop, online delivery charge is way overpriced, I ordered a curtain pole and some hooks Tuesday not getting to me until tusday next week! I have cancelled the order and picked it up today in store without the delivery charge! Online shopping is suppose to be hassle free and quick, wilkinsons did not show any customer value when I told them I will not be shopping with them anymore and hung up. Very rude and will not be ordering or shopping with them again!

I brought 2 bottles of windolene from stroud store today only to have one bottle leak all over my goods and myself, also when checking the other bottle found there was no child safety lid on it , which I feel is dangerous

I went into this shop for the first and last time. I am from America. Everything was dotted around the place in no particular fashion. I attempted to find a store member but nobody was around.I waited for 15 minutes to find the item I was looking for. hair straightners. I finally came across a scruffy looking man with a red tie on.He obviously worked there as He had no coat on just a shirt and tie....plus it was raining. I asked him where the straightners are and He pointed over there and walked off. He then went to desk and shouted....yes shouted for staff to attend the paying station. The poor staff looked terrified and jumped on the payout counters. I just ended up leaving without the goodies and went to argos instead. Never again. Walmart to the uk. Horrid place and cheaper elsewhere.
