“If u want a stress free life then dont buy Worst MPV TAXI”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Hussain140 on 27/04/2013

this is by far the worst taxi MPV i have bought got it in 2008 for Voyager Crewe who have relocated to Sandbach semi-auto gear box replaced 4 Times since the day i had it engine went on it also wiring loom burnt out even the sliding door fell off talk about safety the Vehicle has been a plague. To all NEVER EVER even think about buying this type of Vehicle n also Nissan holdcroft in stoke are so terrible that each time the vehicle went in to them they had it for weeks on ends between 4-7 weeks at a time. But mostly Voyager MPV showed no consideration to the troubles i was having after buying this Vehicle for nearly £30,000 and they sold me an extended warrenty which wasnt even honored when the time came, u would expect peace of mind but after buying this vehicle i lost my peace of mind because if it wasn't one thing it was the other. Because i bought it for Taxi i'm stuck with it. So to all head my warning.

“WARNING DO NOT BUY”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 09/12/2011

We have two Nissian primastar vans both are chiller vans both done 140000+ miles. After a year on the 56 plate the chiller broke down and can not be fixed because of the way they have been fitted. The 07 plate chiller just about works when it's cold out side!!! Every time we take them in for a service or a problem at the Nissian main dealer it always costs between £1500 - £2000+ they never have any parts in stock!! The main dealer never cared after the warranty ran out!! on the 07 plate the back doors have never worked since they day we got it if the temp out side gets below -4 the 07 won't start, we have had so many problems the list is endless!! the sliding door came off once when pulling away in a busy city. The turbo broke on the 56 plate after 700miles from new. we are having problems with one that keeps losing power and the safty managment keeps cutting in. The handbrake cable broke twice on one van even after we recived a letter to recall the van back they changed it and then broke twice since then!!! on the 56 plate all the hydrloics went!!!! There seems to be patten because when we had a renalt master at the same time off bout 130000+ miles every thing started going wrong and since the engines are all Renalt we will never buy a van that has a Renalt engiane Fords or Mercs all the way from now on!!!!!!!!!!!!

“timing chain and engine problems”

written by on 19/06/2011

I was driving on dublins M50 one night on the 20 may with a full load on board,i was just about to exit off the motorway when all of a sudden the useless van lost all of its power and died on the side of the road. the following day i brought it to nissan to find out what the problem is. the mechanic informed me tht the timin chain had snapped.its now off the road 5 weeks and counting.i have been told that there is no parts available in ireland, the uk,or in europe. what i dont understad is tht, nissan, renault, opel and, vauxaul all have the same engine and body panels. so why cant it be repaired.

2003, 120000 miles, I've owned it for 2 years and all its cost me is Mots, fuel, brake pads tyres!

Nothing wrong, everything works brilliantly, not a patch of rust anywhere, van flies, great fuel economy, regularly pulls a trailer, or large caravan when I'm working away from home.

Lovely van, and definitely recommended!

“I have an 06 primastar. I am writing this review to...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 07/11/2010

I have an 06 primastar. I am writing this review to warn people against buying one of these vans, they are totaly rubbish plus it's not a nissan it's a renult. The first problem i had was ocasionaly i had no power. It would start fine, but the acelerator wouldn't work, for about 5 mins, then worked perfect. They changed the pedal, that didn't work, then they reprogramed the ecu, that didn't work, it went to nissan to, they could fix it. They tryed a new ecu, still no joy, after countless other attempts it turned out to be a leaking injector. Nissan didn't find it, a man called diesel Bob, at ribchester, lanc's, did (top man). But this cost me thousands to find and get fixed. 10000 miles later clutch went quote from nissan £950, (thanks but no) managed to get it done by a friend for half that. Then 2 weeks later i was driving down a bumpy road, perhaps quicker than i should have been. Now the van twice as loud as it used to be, and most mechanics are looking at it in disbelief, one said it could be the big end. So it's looking like another expensive job. The only good thing about it is the ac, which most vans don't have. But i think i'll get a transit next and put the window down.

I have the same problem starts fine but no acelerator pedal power, have just changed the pedal and was about to re-programme the ecu, but I bet its a leaking injector the same as you, I have owned this van for about 3 months and to date have had to replace ,fuel pump, steering pump, new glow plugs as it would not start, and as I write this one of the engine mounts has broken! Will have to keep it for another 6 months but as soon as I get some cash together I will get shut. Thanks for your review re the acc/pedal as its save me time, luckily I have a pal who is a mobile mechanic who fixes ir for me so costs are down, have got used to wondering every day what is going to go wrong with it today?

“I bought my Nissan Primastar 115Dci from Voyager MPV...”

★★★★☆

written by mark87 on 15/08/2010

I bought my Nissan Primastar 115Dci from Voyager MPV as a taxi in May 08. Overall as a taxi it has been superb but its been let down by periodic electrical faults on the engine which have caused it to cut out in wet weather It has broken down several times in wet weather and refused to start until it dries out and also wont start if the vehicle is jet washed with the engine off. Now the engine has packed up altogether and wont start and appears to have no compression or fuel pressure. I'm now waiting to see what shows up when we start stripping it down next monday to find the fault and fix it.
The rest of the van is well built and does the job as a taxi very well. full marks to Voyager for the conversion. They have always been top of the game for building top quality taxis.

Update on the engine. The timing chain snapped which has totalled the engine. Nissan refused to assist with a warranty claim so I have had to buy a new engine. That sounds straightforward but its far from being that unless you buy a complete unit direct from Nissan dealer at top price.
I went down the line of sourcing a new engine from an engineering company in Rainham who took my engine as part-exchange. They swapped all the ancillaries across but unbeknown to me until the engine arrived here it didnt have the injectors. It seems they usually seize in the head rendering the entire engine as scrap if anything requires doing to it. The injectors are the last thing to be fitted to the top of the engine ,so if the head needs to come off its impossible if the injectors won't come out.

Its ended up being a very expensive repair job and its also taken around 3 weeks to sort it all out.

I'm wondering if anyone else has come across timing chain problems with these engines? In my opinion Nissan and Renault need to include a timing chain in the service schedule after so many miles.

complete RUBISH, owned the van 3 mounths and its been in the garage five times, and guess what problem is still not sorted.
Nissan main dealers do not want to no just keep taking money and saying it must be something else every time if it is something else then why do they keep replacing parts that are not broken, because their idiots.
DO NOT BUY A NISSAN !!!

How did you get on with this? Did your HP comp reclaim?

We are having the exact same problems. Nothing but issues since we got it 2 years ago. After various faults that have cost £1500/2k so far to fix. We have just paid £2K for a part for the gear box that nissan have installed - They broke another part in the process of fitting it.!!!! Now the computer is saying it wasn't that, that was the problem its something else! This has been off the road for weeks now loosing money as it is tracked out as a taxi!
We are stuck with ours and will approach nissan now for solutions.

Hi problems with Nissan Primastar as well ours is leased, sale of goods act we have been advised to hand it back as not fit for purpose. Only 29 months old when gearbox failed but 67,000 on the clock Nissan offered 20% (as good will) joke. We only have 6 months left as if we will pay out 2000 (after 20%) now.
Have either of you had any luck, feel like there is a cover up as no real reports shown on internet yet everyone knows how bad the gearboxes are!
Renault changed same gearbox in another van at 76,000 no problems.
Nissan are the most unhelpful customer services I have ever come across.

You bought a FREEKIN Renault. What did u expect, reliability? Renault now owns Nissan and many loyal Nissan owners having experienced numerous failures with their Nissan /Renault vehicles vow never to buy a Renaukt or a Nissan again. Perhaps u should do the same and stop throwing good money after bad. Wise up and buy from a reliable company like Honda and Toyota. If your dumb enough to reward Renault's crappy quality with your hard earned cash, then you're the fool. Sorry but someone has to tell it like it is.

you pay £17000 for van and its totally faulty.fuel econ is dreadful, paint falls off after 6 weeks and nissian dont care, they try to blame stonechips but after 1400miles thats a joke.the van is covered all over with paint falling off.try ang get nissian to do anthing is impossible as they dont want to know.try to charge you for your vehicle to be checked at £55 per hour plus vat to find there faults they know about as they have recalled vans because of electrical faults this month november 2009.come on nissian gat your act together and play ball.never buy any nissian vehiclee as we will replace our fleet in march 2010 with fords again.would have never touched nissian if i had known the problems that i would have had with them.stay well away from a bad built van.customer care is not there at all and you just get fobbed off.the warranty you get is not worth the paper its printed on.so you have been warned.also fuel econ you will be told that you have to cover 10000 miles before you get it.i can only manageb 26 miles to the gallon

The Nissan Primastar. Nice Drive, Comfortable. After buying it from new and only 21K miles needs new disks then after 58K needs new ones again. From day one electrics have been doggey, panels are so weak on roof that it has split. Transmission is a nightmare, in 58k I have had to replace the clutch, master and slave cylinder and now the gear cables have worn, for a four year old van I have now spent £4500 on repairs and changeing parts which are either not covered by warrenty or the warrenty has now expired. Total cost to me on this vehicle including pruchase price is £21k . .
