Total Joke Of A Company!
I left a while ago (May 2017) due to taking tests within the company that is about questions that has nothing to do with a finance based role. They are completely insane, they want someone who knows the difference about assumptions made on a school classroom, this has nothing to do with a finance role. A bunch of lunatics running the asylum. Glad i left, number of people leave this weird company. Stay away if you want to keep your sanity!

Brilliant Service
Took out contents insurance a few months ago. Although Hiscox are thought to be more expensive, I found their quote bettered many which offered less cover.
Two weeks ago, I had to make a claim as my spouse who has dementia managed to damage two mortise locks. The claim was settled instantly and money put into my account within two days.
When my buildings insurance came up for renewal, again, I was able to get a better quote than almost anything online and the underwriting team have put both policies to now run to the same date.
Excellent and efficient service all round. thank you.

Hiscox Home Insurance Review
After signing up for general liability insurance on their website and submitting 2 months payment, they contacted me and told me they no longer offer this insurance option and I would need to cancel or they would cancel it and I would lose my premium. After not cancelling for a few days (scrambling to find insurance) they contact me again and threaten to charge the whole premium to the account and then cancel my insurance and not refund the money if I didn't cancel within 48 hours. This time they stated I lied on my account setup, stating I ran a business that didn't meet their standards. How can that be considering I had to answer 200+ questions before they even offered me insurance and I talked with a representative. Avoid at all costs! They cost me one job already (guy called to verify my coverage and they told him my policy was cancelled even before notifying me of it). They try to take your money. A simple Google search will show that!

As An Agent
As an Agent we placed an insured with them. They poached the account and wrote it direct. We No longer do business with this company or any of its affiliates. Not trustworth
I Have been reading policies and tending to insureds needs for over 25 years. So when a insurance company takes business from one side of the company and won' t talk to the other. I am perplexed, and cautious with this firm. No it was business account.
A simplistic answer from The financial whiz. Did the insured received less coverage for less premium. The Hiscox should have said. We could offer the customer a new price though his agent not be greedy, and cut out the agents small commission.
Why does one division of Hiscox not speak to each other. but takes the others accounts for less premium then they already had. Or call the agency or other underwriter to find out why more premium for more coverage might have been the reason.
Are the offering less coverage? Are they trying to replace better policies with inferior policies? So direct was more convenient yet secrecy prevails. Has the insured’s needs actually being preserved?
The insured never heard of Hiscox before agency placed insured with them.
So In the future no customer of agency will ever know the name of Hiscox insurance. Haste may make waste.
If this is home cover their 505 and 606 departments are totally seperate to each other and referals only happen from directly written business to broker led buisness not the other way.
The other possibility of course is that your client decided to buy the insurance direct because it was more convenient?

Don't Trust Them
After only having my policy for a little over 2 weeks I unfortunately had to make a claim. Hiscox sent an apparent 'claims consultant' to my house. He tries to come across as nice and polite but in reality he is looking for any excuse not to pay your claim. He thinks he is smart by making note of every little detail of your claim so he may find any reason not too pay up. After my claim was settled he made insinuations that my claim was somehow fraudulent. If a 'claims consultant' attends your property treat them with the cold distance they deserve and only tell them the exact details of your claim. DO NOT engage in small talk of any description with these people. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!
Agree with Paulcat's comments....don't insurers have an obligation to investigate? Fraudulent claims cost us all a fortune in higher premiums...good to see they are doing their job and paying your claim.
Why not trust them? You claimed, they asked a few questions, they paid up. All seems reasonable to me.

This Is How To Do It
What a fantastic company to do business with.
I felt guilty as, having been with my previous insurer for over a decade without ever claiming, I then had cause to claim on my contents insurance a mere six weeks after switching to Hiscox.
My house was broken into in order to steal the keys to my car; and quite a lot of damage was caused.
Hiscox had someone out to the house to make it secure almost immediately and were super helpful and reassuring.
Really can't fault them at all on their handling of this incident.

We Are Too Busy, We Don't Accept Insurance At The Moment
Unforunately I could not have my insurance accepted with Hiscox for public liability for an exhibition. The reason was "we are currently very busy, we can't accept any new business". I have never come across any company who is refusing new business because they are too busy. Rediculous reason to put forward.

The Most Professional Insurance Company On The Market.
We arrived home after our honeymoon to find we have been burgled. I called Hiscox straight away and they sent a loss adjuster around 4 hours later. After an hour and a half of going through what had been stolen they wrote us a cheque and that was it. I didn't even have to fill in a form. Everything was done for us. Their customer service is nothing short of excellent. They did everything they could to make this as painless as possible and really helped us move on from a particularly horrible experience. I have been a customer for 7 years and have never had an issue with them and would not hesitate to highly recommend them to anyone.

Insurance For Consultants? What A Waste Of Time To Apply
Recently read the Hiscox ad in October 29 Fortune magazine that Hiscox has the right insurance specially tailored for small businesses, consultants in business, marketin and IT. Their website also looks good. Went through the lenghty online application to get the quote which could not be produced online. Someone from their office called the following day re-asked a few of the application questions and transferred me to an independent broker who again asked me the questions from the application and let me know that they represented multiple insurance companiesa. he put me on hold to get a quote. After being on hold for about 10 minutes, came back with no quote available for our general liability because we resell ERP software and do the consulting to implement and service the clients (a very low risk, common consulting model). We've had no claims or insurance issues ever.
What a waste of time!
Boo Hisss Hiscox!
Hi there, I am in the same like one of business as you are. We implement Oracle ERP and have consultants working at clients sites. I was looking for an insurance that covers the business and was looking into Hiscox and stumbled upon your review. Is there a insurance company that you would recommend?
