Palm Zire 71

I bought the Zire 71 a couple of weeks ago and so far have had no major problems. It does not always respond to the touch of the stylus on the screen but that is my only major complaint. The case that is supplied with it, is useless because it turns on the PDA everytime you put it in (I bought a new one), otherwise, its easy to navigate, the handbook is certainly comprehensive at 266 pages long! Navigation is fast between applications and I am really pleased with it.

A PDA is supposed to be easy to use. This Palm Zire 71 has the great advantage to be a PDA, a camera (more like a toy than a real camera, but very useful in many occasions !)and a MP3 reader.

But this one has also the inconvenient to freeze very often, and usually in the worse occasions, while launching an application.

For many reasons, it seems that Palm has launched this PDA as quickly as possible, in order to counter Sony Cli 's competition. The idea was good, but it seems they have forgotten to fix all the bugs.

On top of that, the colour (light metal blue) looks more like the colour of the socks of a girl than of a PDA. Even more, the Palm Zire doesn't fit quite well on cradle, leaving an after taste of "this thing is not worth the money I paid for a PDA"... Nice try, but play again later !

I bought my Palm Zire 71 just over 9 months ago. It has been a great buy other than the occasional times that it freezes when loading an application. It is easy to navigate through the menu and after practice the handwriting recognition works well. The only major bugs are is the difficulty in locating relevent software to go with it - basically it is scarce! other than that it's a great buy.

The Palm Zire 71 PDA Handheld has a wonderful screen but leave the thing in the store. Fatal flaw joy stick is designed so that it will come to life in the case and drain the battery.

Camera is a curiosity but pictures are not that great due to camera shake (who can hold the thing still).

Don't drop it even a wee drop and goodby screen.

Mine lasted two week before it broke(2 foot drop onto a padded carpet). Palm support is awful.

Be smart leave the thing (palm Zire 71) with the bright screen in the store it will only break your heart.

Have had this Palm Zire 71 for 6 months and it is constantly by my side. Threw away my paper diary after a month of having it and haven't looked back.

Use if for everything, even my alarm clock.. Have bought extra memory and use it as an mp3 player as well.

Can't recommend this highly enough.. have had other organisers/pda's but this is something else, worth every penny.
