Chez Gérard at the Opera Terrace, Covent Garden

Good food and consistent across the chain - set menu is much better value than a la carte of course. Service o.k. but this restaurant does get very busy

The place is wonderfully located but also serves a good choice of french style food. The wine and champage selection caters for every range too which makes this CG location a fab venue for special occasions, ladies lunch or business meetings with guests from abroad. And....I love the anchovy butter that you get with the bread basket. :-)

It is a relaxed atmosphere in a lively place - but far from being one of those fast food places. It's like an 'island' in a rather busy place. It has got a special style.

We have been coming here for the last six or seven years whenever we are in covent garden we always try to eat here although we never pre book and on most occasions we have been successful as we know what time to arrive when you are least busy, we always get a table out side and up till now were never disappointed the atmosphere was disorganised.

Chez G rard at the Opera Terrace is my favourite restaurant, I love the food, they excel here, with French waiters who are sent here to learn English and perfect their skills for the major restaurants in France. The setting is also fabulous, sitting out on the terrace overlooking Covent Garden, it's perfect.

There were six of us dining at Chez G rard at the Opera Terrace French restaurant in Covent Garden. We started with 3 bottles of wine in the bar. Got offered a table after 20 minutes, but asked for the next large one available, and 10 minutes later we were seated.

The Steak was perfect. 5 of us had the Rump and 1 had fish. Each steak was cooked to our tastes, and no one could fault the food. The large service charge is a little off-putting, but then it is right in the middle of Covent Garden, so that's what you're paying for!

Overall, I would go back, and I would recommend it for occasions, but as a regular venue it is a little too pricey for me!
