Wella Is Dead To Me.
I'm an experienced 10yr colorist who's been using Wella all that time. I learned on it in beauty school & carried it at my salon.
1st they said it'd only affect certain colors---I knew this was not so.
2nd they said it'd be EXACTLY the same as the previous color---you're changing the formula, something's bound to be different.
3rd it makes all your older KP completely irrelevant so you have to buy more.
I switched all my clients to #mydentity & now it only takes 1 tube, wheras I'd have to use 4-6 to make my desired color in any of the wella lines. I still love illumina, but ALL Wella browns run warm & you have to create one, just to make a neutral color.
I tried an 8/43 just to be sure my intuition was right....boy is this color ugly & BROWN vs the vibrant medium orange is used to be. Good thing I only bought 1 color & 3 developers---but their going straight into the TRASH. Sad this has happened.
Wella has google clogged up w/how great the color is---and it IS NOT.
They claim they changed it so it's all PPD free & more healthy for the hair, but that's just not so. Coty bought P&G a few yrs ago & I've gone through about 6 reps since they took over. They just want to make money & to me, the repuation of WELLA is lost forever.
They should've just left a good thing alone---now they're going to lose all their customers.
New Kol Perfect Colours
Detest the new koleston perfect colour. Had a few disasters, in our salon.
They state rather their colours haven't change. That bold statement is a disgrace, to print.
How can they say that... I.e. 8/07 a lovely caramel colour, now is red turning our clients hair pinky shade on some to orangie golden. How can this be, REDish when it's a warm bolden blonde.
Shame on you koleston!
An angry salon manager!!
I agree ive been using the koleston 12/0 for years in the salon as well it's defenetly been changed turning hair an ash grey instead of golden blonde...I give up not using it again will switch with someone else.
It doesn’t cover grey 100% either. My clients are walking out with faded roots and we measure correctly, take small sections add more on at the front, leave on for longer. I feel like I’m going insane & now looking at taking a L’Oréal colour education course.

Hate The New Koleston
Wella changed Koleston without anyone letting our salon know. The results are NOT the same and I am losing money. Time to switch to a better and cheaper color. Ever since Coty bought Wella it’s been nothing but a nightmare!
Can Somone Help Me Acheive Dark Dirty Blonde Color
I've been dyeing my hair for years from light blondes to dark blonde but can't manage to get my desired color my hair is currently dark blonde but its a kind of warm coppery tone,I won't to try a proffesional hair color but can't afford the hairdressers at this moment, can anyone tell me if wella koleston are any good and if they have used any of the blondes and what shade I should go for,I won't to get rid off the brassy look and have more of a silver tone?
Koleston is professional line by wella. I would say it is a good line to use. Try a 10/8

Wella's Keleston 30 Vol Activator
This is a horrible product....hair dye with ammonia and PPD can be deadly and having not used chemical based dye in a number of years, 24 hours after my hair was done (sylist did not suggest a sample be done, which they are suppose to), my face felt 'sore' and itchy...48 hours and my throat/neck/chest was red and itchy, then my right arm, side and stomach. Now ALMOST THREE WEEKS LATER I continue to battle the chemical toxicity of the dye. My right arm/hand is swollen...this is a horrific experience and getting hold of anyone is impossible.
BEWARE of this product and all hair dye products...research the ingredients and what ELSE they are used for....what is in hair dye is corrosive and you are not suppose to let it touch any PART OF THE BODY...
Fine Hair Beware
My hairdresser switched to Koleston Color several years ago. I had been coloring my hair with little or no incident for several years. I noticed a huge difference in my hair condition after using Koleston. The breakage was noticeable, particularly along the hairline, but it is diffuse throughout. I have sprouts! My hair was much drier and very fly away. I don't think it covers gray that well. I am a brunette. The color is beautiful in that it doesn't turn brassy. But as a lady with short, fine and thin hair I need to keep as much on my head as possible. I made her switch to another brand just for me and it took me a full year to get my hair back in shape. Only to have her use Koleston again on me last appointment (unbeknownst to me). Same breakage as before. If you have fine, thin hair beware. Don't use this color. Something in it eats your hair!
I think that your stylist is using to strong a peroxide strength and as for the grey coverage, your hair maybe resistant so id recommend your stylist use a double base shade to get complete grey coverage. Also id say the stylist should just be applying koleston to the root area and colour touch through midlengths and ends to freshen the ends as this would prevent damage to your hair.
My hair is fine and I notice it thinning at the sides now - only realising now its the colour. Im only 35
I have been using Koleston color on my fine hair clients for years without breakage, I believe this is your stylist mistake. Perhaps he is using too high of a volume of peroxide. There are many factors at play I would not blame the product

I Have Been Colouring My Hair For The Past 25 - 30
I have been colouring my hair for the past 25 - 30 years (mostly at the hairdressers) using Wella products and can only heartily recommend it. If the colour does not turn out the way you wanted it, experience shows that it is mainly down to human error or previous products in the hair. I don't think it is fair to blame the product. Pre-mixed colours for home use are ok, but never yield the expected shades as far as I am concerned, so this time I am going to use the salon product at home, as I won't be able to see my hairdresser until July (and I just cannot wait that long - I have lived in England for the past 20 years, but still have my hair done in Germany at the salon I have been visiting for the past 36 years). My latest colour choice will be Intense Dark Brown 33/0 with Blue 0/88 on a 50/50 basis. I have used the blue before, but mixed with the pure black, which is a tad too dark for my skin, so I am looking forward to seeing the results with 33/0...

I Was Fed Up With Highlighted Hair So Decided To G
I was fed up with highlighted hair so decided to get a hairdresser to tone it down to my natural dark blonde with just a few fine highlights running through. My hairdresser used a wella 7 (not sure of the rest of the number). To my horror it came out several shades lighter than it should have and now my hair is all over mid blonde with non of my natural colour. Why did this happen? More importantly, how to we sort it out? I really don't want this colour hair. She has suggested running through some brown (6) highlights but I dont want it brown and what if that also goes the wrong colour? Please help!!!!!
YUP!!! I totally agree! Not the products fault this one is on the hairdresser!!!
The problem is not the color it is the colorist. When doing a tint back there is no reason to use Wella permanent color she should be using a deposit only color.

@ $7 A Tube, It's A Mid Priced Color So I Expect I
@ $7 a tube, it's a mid priced color so I expect it would provide decent results. I am so glad I put this on my own head before using it on a client. I was 5N with level 6WN panels. I used a 4.75 (dark violet brown) with 20 volume. the result was 5 with a red/orang undertone. After one shampooing, it was 6 with strong copper tones. There was nothing violet brown about it at all. I colored over it the following day with socolor. While I am super disappointed by the results, I am thankful it was on my head, and not the head of client. Not sure if the color is THAT bad or if its a quality control issue, but I certainly will not be bying it again.
Why did you use a 20 Volume if you are going darker?? You shouldn't use 20 vol unless you are trying to cover grey hair or are trying to go a shade or two lighter. Always use 10 vol when you are trying to achieve a darker color, and if you have some greys then always use a natural as well. for ex 1/2 4/75 & 1/2 44/0 and 20vol (for grey coverage that it)!! You could try that out!!

Q&A
Hi I am a natural hair shade 7 dark blonde - light brown . How can I get my hair a nice light beige blonde , without bleach / do I need a wella koleston 12 / something number number Or a wella koleston 10/something number? And what strength developer
Or any brands u recommend?
I hav baby fine natural hair all my life, which got damage & split so bad , by years of my friend using a High lift wella Koleston blonde tint
not sure if she was using 10/ number or 12/ number &I had her always use 7/0 too , two colours in my hair , lots of fine foil hi lights with the darker 7/0 fine foil low lights ,to give my hair a slight contrast look (as I didn’t want a block dye look) I had been growing my hair all one length 2019 from just below the neck to it recently got to shoulder length, the growing longer of my hair, the ends being older etc I did have a small trim regular & no hair dryer or straightener irons for 2 years
air dry or I was finger drying my hair
But it got such bad dead split ends the whole of my hair even the mid lengths split ends and nasty I only wash my hair greasy rooted hair twice a week with gentle shampoo && good conditioner & hair treatments & sleep with coconut or olive oil some weeks
So I was so fed up my baby thin hair always being DEAD since I hit 40 , more dead and spilt since I hit 50 & grew it shoulder length rats tails
I am 52 now i hav shaved it off to man 5 wiv clippers
Please can you explain if there is a difference between the old 12/1 and the new one?
