Gate Agent Lied. Cost Me Over $245.

Massive accident on highway in route to Kauai airport which caused several hours of delay. The flight I was scheduled to board left with only 30 people on it as everyone missed their flight. I left my hotel over 2 hours prior to my flight for what would typically be a 20 minute drive and made it to the gate as they were closing the doors. They didn't allow me to board and the agent told me I would need to book another ticket. I did this as people began to pour into the terminal having missed their flight do to accident. No one, I mean NO ONE besides myself had to re-book another ticket. Every other person was placed on standby and boarded the same flight I PAID FOR free of charge.

I called Hawaiian airlines and in the process of explaining this situation was disconnected THREE TIMES after asking for the return of my money. Hawaiian airlines ignored every request to speak with someone. I filed a BBB and it was quickly removed from the system (they pay off BBB).

I'll never fly with this airline again. What a horrible experience .

Discrimination- Carry-on Baggage Fee

The ticket agent required me to pay $25 to check my small suitcase as baggage. I believe I was discriminated against when I arrived at the gate and looked at all the other passenger’s carry-on bags… Mine was much smaller, and obviously lighter than most of the other bags going as carry-ons with the passengers waiting to board. Additionally, many of the passengers had two carry-ons, which were both larger and likely heavier than the one I was forced to check and pay $25 for.

The baggage was also a problem, and no return calls???

-BAD AIRLINE…NO CUSTOMER SERVICE.

World`s Worst Business Class Cabin

Main problem is leg/ foot rest dose NOT elevate ( might as well be on a Greyhound bus) Do NOT sit on any window seat past row 1, as when seat goes back ( does NOT recline adequately either) it is impossible to get out

Food not too bad but virtually NO choice and WINE is White or RED ( NO choice, NO grape variety ( take it or leave it) and of very AVERAGE quality

We travel at lot on 1st and Business on many different airlines.

AVOID this airline if at all possible in Businees Class

Hawaiian Airlines Vacation Package Nightmare

I purchased a vacation package through the hawaiian airlines website and there were technical difficulty error messages that popped up on the screen immediately after I clicked purchase. The message said to please try again and that I would not be billed. After 6 tries on 2 different cards and seeing the price increase as I was having to re-enter information I gave up and decided to check and make sure they hadn't billed me.

Long story short I was billed on BOTH cards even though I had no actual reservation! My credit and debit card were then locked due to pending transactions over $3,000.000. This prevented me from being able to purchase a vacation package through Hawaiian or any other website as the website error locked me out of my accounts! I needed new bank cards! I didn't get to take a trip! And worst of all the hawaiian team didn't even give me a good apology, offer a discount on a future flight, or anything!

Terrible technical support and customer service team. It took over 4 days for them to cancel my reservation and clear it through accounting so that I could get the funds back into my checking and credit card accounts. I could go on and on in detail about the experience but I won't....it was ridiculous. I ended up booking with delta 2 weeks later and had a great experience.

Very Comfortable Flight!

When I boarded onto the Airbus A330, I knew that this was going to be unique experience (this is my first time flying). I was bound for Honolulu from San Diego. I first was impressed wit the large cloth seats. They were a bit stiff, but the complimentary blankets fixed it. The flight attendants were very social and very friendly. I liked the personal music devices that also comforted me. The plane was very clean and well maintained. After the arrival I liked how the gate area was close to the car rental facility. My vacation wouldn't be complete without Hawaiian!

Got The Serious "haole" Treatment On Hawaiian Airlines!

Got The Serious "Haole" Treatment On Hawaiian Airlines!

The Hawaiian Airlines Corporation has failed to make any gesture of decency after my complaints, and after the ABSOLUTELY HORRID Treatment that I received as a passenger on Hawaiian...

I recommend that you consider using an alternative airline, such as American Airlines, United, or one of the others. As you will learn, it could make a big difference in your experience, and your peace of mind, for you and your Family.

I have lived on the Big Island for more than 13 year, have always had good relations with the Hawaiian people, and have the utmost respect for their land and culture. I have never attempted to buy/own Hawaiian land, and do humanitarian/educational work and publishing. When I related this story to some of my local friends and neighbors, they told me I got "The Haole Treatment". I tend to agree, because I was completely polite at all times, and can find no other explanation for what happened.

First, if you are not familiar with the Word HAOLE, here are some definitions:

Definition of HAOLE

sometimes disparaging/insulting

: one who is not descended from the aboriginal Polynesian inhabitants of Hawaii; especially : white

hao•le (ˈhaʊ li, -leɪ)

n., pl. -les.

usage: haole is usually considered to be a neutral descriptive term. However, it is sometimes used with disparaging intent, arising from a distrust of foreigners or outsiders.

n. Sometimes Disparaging. (a term used in Hawaii to refer to a white person.)

haole

A Hawaiian term for a white person, with the exception of Portuguese people. A haole (not to be confused with ha'ole, meaning "without breath"; ha, breath + 'ole, without) does not mean without breath, but instead means "foreigner". Usually, the term "haole" is taken offensively by white people, as they consider it derogatory.

Okay, so I guess I fit the definition of Haole. Nevertheless, let me be the first to tell you that the Hawaiian Airlines claim that you are their guest, and welcome in the spirit of Aloha can evaporate really fast for a 'haole'.

Here is my story. Please consider it, and see how you would feel. I rarely (almost never) travel, but, after living in Hilo, Hawaii, on the Big Island for more than 13 years, I had to take an emergency trip to Las Vegas. First time I left the island in 13 years. This was because of my Dad, who has chronic ulcers and believes he has a syndrome associated with agent orange. So after worrying about his health for months, and trying to get him to come here so I could take care of him, he collapsed in a pool of blood from vomit etc, lost half his blood, and almost died. Come to find out it had turned into a form of stomach cancer: a lymphoma.

Going all the way to Las Vegas was the last thing I wanted to do. I was completely out of my comfort zone, and worried about TSA, security, driving in that huge city, and all. Knowing my dad's situation was bad, I went ahead and got the first-class ticket, which could be changed without a penalty. The cost was very high, but I felt/feared it may be my last chance to see him. I didn't really know where to go or what to do half the time, but finally made it to my destination.

The good part was reuniting with family members that I hadn't seen in over a decade. The bad part was dealing with an elderly, senile, disgruntled father who was extremely uncooperative, did not want to stay in the hospital or follow the doctors directions, and who was cursing me out three minutes after I arrived. Given he was scared, in pain, and on morphine. He was so extremely hungry the whole time, begging for food, but basically had no stomach left, and could not eat anything. He was already so emaciated, because he hadn't been able to eat well in months, and was avoiding medical help and the doctors' and holistic remedies the whole family was trying so hard to get him to follow. The whole thing was heartbreaking, and scary for us all.

I sat up with my dad in that hospital for almost seven days straight, with few breaks, lots of coffee, little food, and hardly any sleep. I was completely exhausted and emotionally drained. I saw him through a difficult, risky surgery, and tried to make sure he did what he needed to do to recover (he was trying to have people bring him McDonalds right after surgery, mind you. Tubes in his nose and sides and all...) When it was time to go, I was really sad to be leaving, but also somewhat relieved to be returning to my family and young children, who have never been away from me for so long. They couldn't fully understand the situation.

On the morning I was to leave, only a couple days after my Dad's surgery, he had some complications, a downturn in his condition, and I had to go to the hospital before I left. This left me rushing a bit, and I did not realize how huge the Las Vegas Airport really was, and how much longer it took to get on a flight than in Hilo! I had a little trouble finding the car rental drop off place, and had to take 2 shuttles and a tram to get to my terminal. By the time I arrived, it was too late. The people at the counter were nice, though, and gave me advance boarding passes for a (technically full) late night flight leaving more than 12 hours later. Good thing I bought the first class ticket, which could be changed without additional fees.

I had first planned to stay at the airport the whole time, but after an hour or so sitting there, I thought I might as well take the extra time to do a few things that I had wanted to do before I left and never had enough time. No it had nothing to do with gambling and prostitutes (ha-ha), I wanted to get a juicer set up for my dad at his home-important for his nutrition and recover-and also visit my Dad one more time. He would never get this done his self, nor would my little brother, who is somewhat irresponsible, so I went for it.

To accomplish this I had to rent a car for one more day, which I did online through my kindle, locate a place to buy the juicer, and drop it off at my dad-brothers place. I left the airport again and went out into the blistering Las Vegas heat for a day of rushing, driving, making calls all around town, etc. When it was done I has an expensive high-quality juicer for my Dad, who had lost half of his stomach and gall-bladder, got it dropped off at my Dad and Brother's house, and popped in on my dad one last time, to his surprise, and rushed back to the airport.

I was a bit sweaty and exhausted, awake only due to espresso, but I had made it. In the last 90 minutes or so before I got on my flight, I could not even stay awake. I was nodding asleep every few minutes, after this highly-stressful experience. I was worried there would be no room, but I got my spot on first class and made it back to Honolulu with good treatment, and no incident worthy of note. This is where my trouble began.

When I arrived at the terminal to wait for my next flight, the customer-service lady appeared to be of local Hawaiian descent. I was completely polite as I tried to check in as early as possible, but she told me to just wait. Her demeanor was very rude from the beginning, but I was really too tired to give it much thought. I sat down and plugged in my phone, as it was almost empty, and I would need a charge to call for a ride home when I got to Hilo. I was worried I would not be able to get on this flight and make it back home. My kids had already been disappointed after not seeing me for the first time for a whole week, and then I missed my flight. I was exhausted, and really needed to get home ASAP.

There were also other standby passengers, but this lady made me wait till the last moment to get on the flight. As I stood there waiting, she called onto the flight and told the attendant to move a lady, who she mentioned by name, up into a first class seat, and to seat me in coach. At this, I informed her, that my ticket was for first class, and that I had bought it for its changeability. The flight was about to leave, and The flight attendant was actually about to close the door. I was very insulted at this, but resolved to take it up with the Airline later. I was expecting to get my new boarding pass, but she told me that I did not need one and that I could get on the flight. I was seated in the 5th or 6th row, and felt uncomfortable after the passengers had been shifted in a public manner to put me in coach, when my ticket was for first class. the customer service agent had also spoken to me rudely in the presence of other passengers, etc in a public setting.

I contacted the airline as soon as I got home and filed a complaint. I requested a refund, and I was told I would hear from them in 30 days. I did not. After I called back, I received an email asking for my boarding pass to confirm I was moved to coach. The lady had intentionally not given me my boarding pass! I gave them the blank one I was given in Vegas with no seat number for my Honolulu to Hilo flight. I later received an email stating that my movement to coach could not be confirmed, and basically, that they did not believe what had happened!

I will continue to contact the corporate office of Hawaiian Airlines until this issue is satisfactorily resolved. I am also filing a complaint with the Hawaii Civil Rights Council regarding this awful and discriminatory treatment by Hawaiian airlines, which they refuse to acknowledge. The insult and stress of this treatment was especially bad because of the extremely stressful week I had just been through during a family emergency. As of now, my only resource is to post this account perpetually online in as many places as possible and hold Hawaiian Airlines publicly responsible for the wholly unacceptable treatment of their passengers.

Thanks for reading and caring about what happens to your fellow people.

Worst Travel Experience Ever

We flew Hawaiian airlines Sydney to LA, LA to Las Vegas, Las Vegas to Hawaii and are due to fly back to Sydney tomorrow. We have had nothing but problems. We have a 1 year old and do not expect special treatment however I do expect a level of service which should come with paying the fare. We have to pay $75 extra for a bulk head seat however for all 4 flights have been unable to do this due to a technical problem which they tell us has something to do with travelling with an infant however can't tell us how to overcome this. They lost our bags between Honolulu and LA and provided no financial assistance in the first 24 hours when we needed it the most. All of my husband and my daughters clothes etc were inside and it took them 3 days to find the bag and get it to us. They told us we would receive 30 dollars a day after the first 24 hours however they are fighting us about this now also. And they will not give a cent for my daughter whose clothes were also in the bag stating she is not a full fare paying customer. The majority of the hostesses are rude and not helpful at all. We received no information from them in regards to seatbelt safety etc when it came to our daughter and had to ask. The last thing as a parent you want to do is inconvenience other passengers however they make flying with a child horrific as once again, we are unable to book and pay for the bulk head seats through web check in. They had the cheek to tell us that the only way they could help us was for on our last day to catch a cab to the airport and check in that way. We told them it would cost us 130 dollars round trip and we couldn't with our one year old and they couldn't care less. They are a disgrace. I will never ever fly them again and if you are thinking of booking your holiday with them don't.

Vacation Starts The Minute You Step On The Plan!

My family will only fly Hawaiian Airlines for our vacations to Maui. They are one of the few airlines that still provides a meal on the long flight from Seattle to Maui. They have complementary pillows and blankets which make the experience more enjoyable. Hawaiian Airlines has the best flight times which allow for perfect hotel check in time. The last few times we have flown Hawaiian Airlineswe have arrived back in Seattle early. Can't ask for a better experience! Now if only I could go back more often! :)

Boy, were you lucky.

Both times I used them, we had to return to the gate and change planes due to mechanical problems with the plane.
