Good Old Workhorse

1991 Disco 200 imported to NZ from Scotland in 1994.

Now has about 198000 miles on the clock.

Has had one clutch, rebuilt injector pump and new power steering pump, everything else original. Gearbox 2nd getting weak and has a transmission clonk at gear changes but like me it getting on a bit. Has done reasonable amount of miles on highway commute but also gets put to use on the farm. Rakes hay and tows harrow no problem.

Has a large inter-cooler and tweaked fuel pump. Disconnected the turbo wastegate and now drive on the boost gauge. Will still make 15psi when needed. I use SWEPCO 501 cetane boost in the diesel and this makes a big difference. It has dropped the boost pressure about 2-3 psi at 60mph cruising so it certainly lifts the power and reduces smoke.

Body showing some very small patches of rust but passed WOF no problem.

A great old bus that has served the family well.

1992 Disco Tdi 200

Bought my Disco in 1999 with 118000 kms. Currently 367000 kms. This Disco has been driven hard. Gravel, lots of beach work, mud and rocky terrain. I love it! Yes it has cost me a reasonable amount of money in repairs. 2 x trans box, 2x clutch, 1 rear fuel pump, 1x 5spd gear box. But it does get driven hard. A bit rolly polly on the road but easily fixed with good after market shocks and coils. I use King Springs and Bilstien Shocks. Reliable ,if maintained. Still have original exhaust. Love it and hope to keep it going for another 100000.

My Landy 200tdi Got Almost 200,000kms And Been Usi

my landy 200tdi got almost 200,000kms and been using it goin back and forth to my farm and got 80% off road and all is well except for the brake pads and tyres,it would roll,roll....unstoppable.with its truck size parts components its sure a tough one to beat compared to japanese profit oriented base parts these one is real mean.but just like any other trucks,do take care of it and it would be undestructible.

The Land Rover Discovery 200 2.5 Tdi Is A True All

The Land Rover Discovery 200 2.5 TDi is a true all purpose vehicle in every sense of the word. Will travel up to seven people in comfort on road and supremely off it. This thing will take you virtually any where. Had mine a shortwhile but totally reliable and sounds good even after 180000 miles. Only the rapid corrosion will kill these trucks off prematurely

Had My Land Rover Discovery Since New, 5th August

Had my Land Rover Discovery since new, 5th August 1992, and not once let me down, have traveled across Spain in it, even through the Alps in winter, its never once got into a situation it cant get itself out of, with a sensible driving foot it is capable of 40mpg (Tdi). as long as you maintain the car with regular oil checks it will keep on going. On road comfort is great, maybe a bit of lean on the corners, but what can be expected of a tall 4x4.

Treat it well, and it will treat you well.

Brilliant Everyday Car - Starts First Time Every T

Brilliant everyday car - starts first time every time, you must must service these vehicles properly or the expense can ruin the enjoyment of ownership. Mine had been a little neglected so has cost a little to get it back in shape but well worth it. Later models had numerous faults so look for service history.

This Land Rover Discovery Has Done 268,000 Miles,

This Land Rover Discovery has done 268,000 miles, serviced every 6000 miles with top end rebuild and rear suspension needing replacing. Still drives like a trojan - a real hard working vehicle, just keep it serviced and they keep going on. If you want a little more power consider the 3.9 V8 but get a gas conversion and its a similar price to run.
