Wonderful Service From Ageas
I had an accident that was my fault and which left my car undrivable. Ageas arranged to have the car transported to a garage of their choice for an estimate of repairs. I explained that I was having a major operation in a week and asked if things could be hurried through. Everyone I dealt with was pleasant, helpful and efficient. The car was written off unfortunately, but the offer made to me was more than fair and was paid immediately. In fact the accident happened on Monday and the payment was transferred to my bank on Thursday, just 3 days later. In 2011 I made another claim for theft from my car that was also dealt with efficiently and fairly. I cannot speak more highly of the service Ageas have given me. Most people only review if they have a bad experience but I am sure many like me have had positive ones.

Stolen Car Fiasco
there was a knock on the door and the police told me my car had been stolen!I was unaware as the car was in he car park opposite my house.Ageas won't pay out as they don't believe it was stolen as per my statement!!!!I didn't know it was gone until the police told me.As a company, they are incompetent and totally unprofessional but very capable liars

Badly Let Down
I insured with Fortis but when I sent in my claim I was informed Fortis is now Ageas.I had not been notified of this.I was travelling along a main road and pulled out to pass a row of stationary cars to turn right at traffic lights. there was a stationary car in a side road to my left. As I passed this the car accelerated and smashed into the side of my car causing substantial damage.I reported this to Ageas and was told it was the other drivers fault.I received a letter registering my claim. After hearing nothing more I phoned and was told that I had to accept 80% of the blame as there was no line to make 2 lanes even though I was well within the central line argued the point on local knowledge and the fact that I was following other cars and that he had driven out of a side road I argued the point for several months but they would not budge. In the end I had to capitulate as it was affecting my health. In all this time (14 months) I received 3 letters from Ageas. If you want someone to fight your corner don't pay Ageas because you won't get justice.

Ageas New Name For Fortis Disgraceful Service Again
In July 2011 l had what l call a 'no blame' motor vehicle accident, the other party drove into my stationary car !!! PHOTOGRAPHS etc taken at the time.
We are now into OCTOBER, AGEAS have made no direct contact with myself, l have had to do all the running etc. Having made NO EFFORT and NO INVESTIGATION, AGEAS now want me to accept a 50 / 50 blame. Guess what ?? The other party is also insured with AGEAS !!!!!!!! They have failed to answer or acknowledge my complaint, they REFUSE TO SHOW ME THE 'OTHER PARTIES' EXPLANATION OF THE INCIDENT.
******* AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS ******
This is not just my complaint.... before you go with AGEAS check the official ombudsman web page at ombudsman-complaints-data.org.uk guess who led the field for the period Jan - June 2011. A Belgium company that recently changed names...... bet they change names again soon but keep to the same underhand tactics. ALWAYS ASK YOUR BROKER THE INSURANCE COMPANIES NAME, SAVE YOURSELF DISAPPOINTMENT ***** AVOID AGEAS *****
I had full no claims discount on a fully comprehensive cover with no claims protected etc etc ( all at extra cost ) guess what !!!! they get around it by raising your excess what a underhand method NO WONDER ONE AND A HALF MILLION DRIVERS DON'T HAVE INSURANCE, THE INSURANCE COMPANIES DON'T DESERVE THE CUSTOM, WHICH SIDE ARE THE OFFENDERS ?????

Interesting!!!!took My Insurance Out With, Who I T
INTERESTING!!!!Took my insurance out with, who i thought was kwik fit..
I was reversing from a parked bay, very slowly as my view was restricted with cars either side of me and also cars parked on double yellow lines behind me, on a one way street. When a car appeared from nowhere!!! I was litrally reversing maybe 3mph??!! If thats possible (i was going that slow).
I gave the driver my details and left things to go ahead. I was asked about the accident and sent a claim form asking me to write what happened, drawing pictures also!! I was told i had to admit fault even though the other driver would have been able to see me reversing, at a very slow speed and should/could have waited. I was told every thing would be dealt with and not to worry.8 months later when i try to renew I had to ring to ask what had happened with the claim against me. The claim was almost five thousand pound!!!! This 'driver' claimed whip lash against me even though our cars litrally brushed with each other. His wheel arch was slightly dented! Absoloutly no way possible could he have whip lash. When fortis rang with the claimants 'story' they said damage to the passenger driver was caused!?!?! when i was at the drivers side!! They then put this right. Then when they finally told me about the claim made against myself the caller said the driver had a passenger who was injured??!!! Which she got wrong.
They kept me completly in the dark about this claim made against me, i feel they didnt investigate it properly. I was told the driver may have been driving at speed and therefor would have had a harder impact. I didnt even feel our cars brush up together so he wasnt going fast.He must have came to a stop straight away as he was stationary when i noticed him. Fortis told me they would investigate things and look at google map to look at the street the accident happened. Which they didnt!! They took his word and paid out, making me lose my 8 yrs no claims. Basically, they dont inform you of anything that is going on and dont have a clue
Same thing has happened to me. I was staionary outside a bank when a car reversed into me....not only have Agaes paid out for injury to 4 passenger when no one else was in the car I also have had my premium go up £200 per annun presumably for the next 5 years. This is despite my continuing requesting over the last two years that Ageas approach the bank for CCTV. I understand that it would cost them more to dispute the claim than just pay out unfortunately this is at a cost to their customers.
Firstly just because some other member of the public is dishonest enough to exagerate their claim and is probably with the no win no fee brigade you cannot blame your insurer! If you study the highway code if you are reversing into another vehicles path you should give way! If he appeared from nowhere you obviously did not look to see if it was clear.

Reported The Accident To The Broker (m&s) - Their
Reported the accident to the broker (M&S) - their handling agents are injury lawyers so you can guess how the opening dialogue went. We exchanged all the details and was told to expect a call from Drive Assist (DA) - and did. The DA agent went carefully through the script and had car ready within the hour - very good - until I was asked for my credit card. DA are a car hire company and I suspect that they need your credit card so that if the accident goes knock-for-knock then they can take their share of the hire costs from your card - so be careful. Also you can only have the car for a limited time period and it is renegotiated after 14 days if your car is still under repair - I was offered a Fiesta category.
I then called Fortis directly and went through them accident with - gave them all the details including witness details, police details and importantly a few photographs of the accident scene with the cars still in place - pays to get a few piccies if you can or if you can't get someone to do it for you - it is a case winner - if it is not your fault.
I was then told to take my car to the local Car Clinic (preferred car repairer for Fortis (now Aegis). I wanted to take my car to a specialist repairer which they said I could do but would have to pay the excess when the bill got settled. So I called my repairer and we got the car collected - then tehy put me onto a specialist Accident Management Company that took me through the accident again - I sent the piccies and a the witness details and tehy offered my a much better class of car (huge daily rate) and I asked about time period and knock-for-knock and tehy said - on the strength of my case- that they would not be asking for credit card details or any contributions if the case went against me.
Car repaired after 3 months - injury payments made - and case closed.
I dealt with Fortis direct every week to chase the status and the staff were extremely helpful - probably because I helped them help me. I also asked for a letter of no fault for my next renewal date - no problems.
Just has a follow up issue that needed another claim - reported last week - cheque received today.
My experience with Fortis has been very good - but I took the view that I would help them help me and also that I would call them every week to chase up the 3rd party - they had no issues with that - and we got on very well indeed.
Moral of the review - don't assume that you are their No1 priority and work with them to get things moving

I Just Thought I'd Back Up Fortis (now Known As Ag
I just thought I'd back up Fortis (now known as Ageas)
I have to car polices with them and when travelling I take their travel polices too.
To the person who posted they had a fault claim and expected a refund!! No insurance company would give you a refund if it's a fault claim. You must understand that you are not paying insurance based on a per day rate - you pay a premium to cover you against an event (claim) in the coming 12 months ie paying against an event. If an event occurs you are covered - asking for a refund of your 9 months is like asking the insurere to only do 25% of you repairs.
You should do some research and actually read up about insurance works before posting sill comments.
Asking for money back when they've paid for claim is poor form, absurd and down right greedy.
As a previous claims manager for a insurance broker I have founf Fortis's claims handling to one of the best in the industry and certainly the quickest.
I found this review not helpful because...No insurer gives refunds following a claim, otherwise if you claimed on day one, they would be sending you a cheque for the written off vehicle, with you only having paid for one day of cover. Had you replaced the car for another one, they then would have simply switched the vehicle over for you and you could have enjoyed cover for the remainder of the year. People make sweeping statements based on very limited knowledge.

You muppet! you take out insurance, make a claim, they settle it for you and you expect a refund! Try buying some food from Sainsburys eating it and then ask for your money back. They are not a charity
