The Classic Italian Restaurant, Bella Roma, Can St

The classic italian restaurant, Bella Roma, can still serve me a dinner and welcome me properly after half past eleven in the night.

The italian waiters are very professional and polite and ready to give the best service.

The steak I got was the biggest ever, and the pasta e fagioli (beans soup) as starter very tasty.

I will be back sure! I felt I was in Italy.

Bella Roma Is The Best Place Where To Go For A Rom

Bella Roma is the best place where to go for a romantic dinner in Manchester, good italian wines and massive portions of steak and duck with a lot of vegetables. Have been a little refurbished from a couple of months and now looks much better.

You can still practice the your skill in italian language chatting with the staff.

A place open till late.

A Friend And I Went For A Late Lunch To Bella Roma

A friend and I went for a late lunch to Bella Roma on Saturday. I have never had such disappointing food! I ordered 'strips of beef fillet with pasta in a tomato and red wine sauce'. I actually received a bowl of pasta with what looked and tasted like a tin of stewing steak dumped in it - full of lumps of fat. My friend ordered 'seafood risotto', and received a large lump of congealed rice, with tiny rubbery pieces of 'seafood' and what tasted like about half a pound of salt mixed in. Needless to say, we couldn't eat any of it. When ordering drinks, the waitress took our order, and then proceeded to spend the next 15 minutes apparently chatting to someone on her mobile. When asked 'How was the meal' - I said it was inedible, and explained why, and was just ignored and handed a bill for £50!

Had Some Really Good Evenings At Bella Roma And Ha

Had some really good evenings at Bella Roma and have always had good food and service. At my last visit I had a lovely steak good wine and a home made dessert. It is like being in an Italian trattoria in Italy. After the meal we were treated to homemade limoncello! Lovely. Would highly recommend to anyone who appreciates REAL Italian food.

Manager Spent Most Of The Time Having A Loud Argum

Manager spent most of the time having a loud argument with a waitress, only stopped when i called him over to ask him what the dessert I had been served with was. He insisted (as did the waitress) that it was chocolate mousse when it obviously wasn't (plain sponge and very sweet white ice cream) with a very sweet caramel sauce. No wonder the restaurant was practically empty on a Saturday night.

Where To Start With Bella Roma. 18 People Bo

Where to start with Bella Roma.

18 people booked, deposit paid and receipt received.

Turn up at the correct time. "Who are you. You are not expected." Our reservation was not known by the "waiter" and there was no way we could eat there. What about our deposit? "I am only the "waiter" I cannot give you back your deposit as I have no record of it". But the receipt has the restaurant name, address and phone number on. "You cannot have it back".

So eventually, after some debate, we can have some tables, but not all together. After some move debate and eventually a call to the owner, "we can have two tables together, but it is possible the kitchen will not be able to cater for 18 unexpected people". What? We were shown the booking diary to prove there was no reservation, but hang on...there is our name, number in the party and the time we booked for. What is this? "I did not look in the diary, because nobody told me you were coming" says our friendly "waiter". So, more heated debate and some expletives on our part. Everybody leaves and I stay to discuss in a moderate tone, how we go about having our deposit returned. To cut this long story short, no deposit returned, which we will follow up, other customers insulted by the "waiter", - a young lady eating on her own, who I apologised too for our behaviour, but who was insulted by the "waiter". WOW.

Why do I say "waiter" in this missive, well I am told by other restaurant owners in the vacinity, he is the manager AND also the brother of the owner. I was also told that people are let down regularly.

DO NOT EAT HERE, UNLESS YOU WANT TO SEE A FANTASTIC FLOOR SHOW AND YOU DO NOT MIND BEING INSULTED AND SWORN AT.

Wow I just want to go to Bella Roma in Manchester for the entertainment alone! My plan is order their best bottle of wine, their most expensive dish and leave - but not too soon, as I want to know that they've at least started cooking and unplugging the wine.

Sounds like a nightmare.

We had eaten at Bella Roma on previous visits to Manchester (for Manchester United matches) and to be fair had found it ok.

We were going to Old Trafford again for a match on March 17th 2007, and realising this was St Patrick's day/night, we decided to book a table (for 4) and I rang & did this about 2.5 to 3 weeks beforehand.

Upon arriving at the restaurant at the booked time, on entering a waitress looked up at us (from taking somebody's order) so I said I had booked a table for 4.

“You can sit there” she said, indicating a table with seats for 8, already occupied by 3 people, then made to walk away “No” I said “ I specifically rang (over 2 weeks ago) and booked a table for 4”. She sort of shrugged and looked at me blankly.

Then the owner/manager appeared, so I said to him I had booked a table for 4.

“So you don’t want this table?” he said - aggressively. I said if he was going to argue with me we would just leave, repeating that I had booked a table for 4, some time ago.

Not listening...

“So you don’t want this table, what about this (other) table?”

Well the other table was a) far too big – another 8 seater b) right next to the kitchen hatch/ serving area, and c) littered with full ashtrays.

We decided to give up and leave, telling him his attitude stank.

Never again.

Bella Roma Was Not Only Bland And Of Poor Quality,

Bella Roma was not only bland and of poor quality, but resulted in a night of being ill.

The dessert quantities were huge, but apparently that was due to it being prepared by a new and inexperienced member of staff. Manager came over and apologied for the mountain of creme caramel that was put before me!

I Went Here On Valentines Day A Few Years Back - I

I went here on Valentines Day a few years back - I have since never returned.

Bella Roma is the worst restaurant in Manchester that I have experienced. For a start, I had to pay an expensive deposit up front - fair enough, I thought this wasn't standard practice, but reluctantly I agreed.

Did this guarantee me good service and a decent seat? Sadly not.

It was a particularly cold February in Manchester and the owner oh so kindly put us right near the door, which he failed to shut properly so I was constantly having to get up to close the door as my girlfriend was freezing to death. We weren't the only customers who got the shaft on the most romantic night of the year. Other couples were made to share tables for four people. Picture the scene - a romantic evening out and you have to share a table with another couple!! I think the owner saw Valentines Night, probably the only night of the year when he is full, as an opportunity to clean up.

The waitress took over an hour to bring us DRINKS!!! I think that tells it's own story really.

Do yourself a favour and try a different Italian.
