The Ambience Of Edinburgh Scottish Modern Howies B
The ambience of Edinburgh Scottish Modern Howies Bruntsfield was reasonable but the table for two was barely enough.
The menu choice was satisfactory (possibly for the month of July as described on the Menu).
The wine order was not executed correctly but was changed without any fuss. The wine was good quality.
Given that the plates were not warmed for hot food the mains of confit of duck and rump of lamb with caramelised sweet potato were well cooked and presented. The side vegetables were overcooked and had been liberally sprinkled with rock salt after plating. This was not palatable.
The desserts (of Cr me Brule and summer pudding) were of exceptional quality and in my view were "home made" - e.g. the bread used for the Summer Pudding was correctly stale.
My overall image was possibly of a tired kitchen brigade. In other words they have the skills to present a much better culinary experience.
