Great Flute

The Jupiter Dimedici is a really a great flute. I played Gemeinhart, Myazawa, Muramatsu, Pearl, Sankyo (silver Sonic) and a DiMedici 1011 RBS.

The flute feels good for me. The sound is beautiful, dark, jazzy, and easy to play also thrd octaaf.

It is a pitty that Jupiter do not make the DiMedice flutes anymore.

Best Deal For The Price

I bought Jupiter Dimedici 1011 for my 12 year old son who plays for the local Youth Symphonic Orquestra. The instructors (one of them has a flute doctorate from one of our universities and vast teacheing experience and myself agree that this is a great instrument. Smooth response, warm and steady tone, really well built and also beatiful. We compared it with the orchestra's two Armstrong and three Yamahas and we think it plays better than all of them. The tone is much better than the Armstrongs and can be compared with the Yamahas' but it has a superiror proyection power.

Brilliance With A Capital B

I've recently purchased a diMedici 1011 and I've never once regretted my decision. I was enthralled since I've played my very first note and I still am. It's certainly the flute of choice after upgrading from an Armstrong 107E!

It's tone quality is absolutely lovely compared to all the other flutes I've tried. Any "genre" of tone is able to be played in the 1011 diMedici, from dark and "sexy" to light and "fluffy". Its appearance is the definition of "elegant"; my 1011 has engravings, which is a bonus. With a solid silver head-joint and body, it's an excellent value for money. Even the shopkeepers at my local music store praised the diMedici line for its brilliance!

So far, I haven't found any "flaws" in my 1011, so it's a 5-star rating throughout (and I'm not one to give 5-star ratings easily). Definitely a flute I would recommend for aspiring flautists! :)

I Think The Flute Is Overpriced In Comparison To I

I think the flute is overpriced in comparison to it's capabilities.

My friend has a Yamaha 211 flute and it sounds as good for less money and is more reliable.

I have bought two Jupiter di Medici's. The first one cost $1,695 and did require frequent repairs. I agree. The second di Medici I bought for $2,000 about eight years later has not been used as much and I reserve it for performances only.

Over The Past 25+ Years I've Played A Lot Of Flute

Over the past 25+ years I've played a lot of flutes, from student models to custom flutes like Powell, Haynes, Lunn & Eppler. The Jupiter diMedici 1011 is an absolutely fabulous flute by even the highest standards. It uses Bennett scale A=442, which is the same as the best professional flutes. It offers 4 headjoints D1 through D4. My 1011 came with the D2, which is a fine headjoint. Great tone quality with strong bottom end, sweet midrange and highs, capable of wide dynamics, with tone color from dark and menacing to light and airy.

I've played more expensive professional flutes like Haynes and Powell that I didn't like as much as the Jupiter 1011. In my opinion, this is one of the best factory flutes you can get. You can spend a ton more $$$ on a custom hand built flute and get a piece of beautiful handcrafted art, but will it play or sound better in any practical sense? Will it have a nicer tone, smoother quicker key action, be more durable, or have better intonation? Not in my experience.

I Bought The Jupiter Dimedici 1011 Flute After Fou

I bought the Jupiter diMedici 1011 Flute after four years with a 911, which I still play. Jupiter have made changes in the last few years; the silver plating is better, and the G sharp key is smaller. I have found the silver tube improves the sound greatly. I recently fitted a second-hand Sankyo head-joint to it, and the sound is better still.

Controlling the sharp tuning in the final octave is a problem when I play with a wind band.

If you are upgrading to a flute in this price range, such as the Yamaha 400 series, then try the diMedici 1011.
