We Visited The Talbot Pub/restaurant For A Very Sp

We visited The Talbot pub/restaurant for a very special meal last night(17/11/05). We had previously called the manager and asked if there was a booking system, he said there wasn't and to just turn up and we would be looked after.

We arrived 30 minutes before the restaurant was opened and a member of staff told us to get a drink first and come back to the restaurant area at 6.00pm.

Which we did. This was our first mistake. According to the main and only waitress, we should have booked in with her first when we arrived. She could not find us a table till she'd seated the other customers. We looked around and the restaurant was empty and there was one other couple and a group of four people having a drink. We explained we'd been in the pub since 5.30pm and her attitude went downhill from there. She argued and made us feel as though we were not welcome.

We were left standing in a cold lobby, waiting for the rude waitress to bother to find us a table. I checked around the pub and no where does it explain that there is a booking in system.

When she did finally come to seat us, she clearly put us in the worst area she could find.

The room was dull, dirty and cold. On inspection, the plates, cutlery and tables were dirty. She ignored us for another 10 minutes and then came to take our order. We then went to help ourselves as this is just a carvery.

The food was awful. One small slice of meat, undercooked vegetables and cold gravy.

The salad bar was sparce in its selections and the items looked as though they had been sat there all day.

We declined starters and puddings as we did not wish to waste anymore money.

The rude waitress totally ignored us, we had to get our own drinks from the worst barman in Milton Keynes. He lied to us about what selections of drinks they had on offer and tried to overcharge us.

Whilst we ate our meals, the rude waitress did appear and proceeded to spray antibacterial spray on all the tables and pretend to clean them. The smell was awful.

By this time, we had had enough and asked for the bill. She appeared 10 minutes later and threw it on to the table and walked away.

We looked around as we left and the restaurant was still empty.

This was by far the worst dining experience we have had in a long time.

I would not recommend this place to anyone. Even if you are starving. Go to the nearest chip shop instead.
