Cleaning At Altrincham And Bolton Branch
I have been in nearly all total fitness in North west. The Floor at Bolton’s ladies’s changing room is dirty and you can find patches of black mold everywhere. I am sure it has not been clean for months. Altrincham one is the worst. Very dirty shower. Black mold on ceilings. Jacuzzi is very dirty. You can feel dirts under your feet. Handforth and Whitefield are much better in cleaning than the other ones.
In my opinion total fitness is the best gym in north west, but the lack off cleaning letting it down. The cleaning has to be taken more seriously. I understand the shortage of staff and other issues but a hygiene can damage the company’s reputation.

Salon And Takeaway In He Saunas
New signs have been put up regarding shaving and eating in the steam rooms and saunas. However, they are pointless if the staff do not challenge such behaviour. Time and time again i have gone into the sauna to find bald med shaving there muts and chests and then going into the hydropool to clean there shavers, All under the eyes of the staff. One casually walks round the pool with a razor in a pint glass of water and chats to the staff with it in his hand

Cleaning At Lincoln Gym
A good gym with nice staff and equipment but very dirty in the pool area and showers. Floor is never cleaned and is slippery and slimy. It is a shame because i like the gym and the pool size is great. Unfortunately the pool side is very unsafe for people with mobility issues and the elderly due to the 'slimy' surface. If the pool side was cleaned adequately this would be an excellent place.

Totally Shocking
Totally shocking, I unfortunately lost my job and to move out of a total fitness area. I had regular contact to let them know of my current situation and tried to set up a payment plan to pay of the outstanding amount. This was refused I had to pay in full and then my information was passed onto a debt collection Agency without my knowledge. I will never use total fitness again putting me into more debt than I currently am. Disgusted doesn't even describe how I have been treated

In General We Are Happy With The Gym And With Most
In general we are happy with the gym and with most staff members . But the other day , I approached the manager on duty at the Whitefield branch in regards to freeze my kids’ memberships as they are away in uni . Was then told that my children can only freeze their accounts once in a year and can’t freeze again . That info was contradictory to what we were told on taking the children’s memberships. Explained to the manager that we were told that my children being full time students and away from Manchester , can freeze their accounts a few times during the year. She replied that rules have changed and there’s nothing she could do about it . She was just abrupt and unhelpful .
I then decided to contact the head office . I explained the situation to them and thankfully everything got sorted . Students are entitled to have 3 ‘freeze’ during the year with each freeze for up to 3 months . Head office staff members were very attentive , supportive , polite and professional .
The manager from Whitefield need to get her facts right before talking down to customers.

Pool Was Cloudy, Showers Sooo Cold Or Just Stopped
We were so excited having looked around and couldn't wait to start... until we tried the pool. It was cloudy and the water quality just wasn't up to the standard of our council pools. The shower stopped when my hair was full of suds and the other showers were freezing so I rinsed off in the sink, came out and told them I was taking advantage of the 14 day cooling off period.

Money, Money, Money
Having been a member since the Aintree branch opened, I endured the debacle that ensued following the fire and stuck with TF when others were leaving, I now find myself in a position that I have not attended since March so decided to cancel membership. I sent an email to a TF address but noticed that payments were still being taken from my account. I cancelled the direct debit and subsequently received a debtor letter demanding money plus costs. I contacted TF to be told there was no record of my cancellation and I would need to make a payment for October in order to cancel my membership(even though I had not set foot in the place for 6 months) you will see from the date of this post that it is the 3rd of the month! This just goes to prove that TF is only concerned with Money not the members

Disgrace
Awful experience. Hassled for money. Below is a letter I sent to an assistant manager.
I am writing to you with concerns of a letter I have received in regards to a membership that I never finalised. It was agreed by your marketing staff that I would have a period of time in which I was informed I could contact them to confirm the contract and set up a direct debit - I was, however, unsatisfied and felt extremely pressured signing the forms.
I have many contributing factors as to why I have not finalised my membership. One was on viewing your full access gym with my severely disabled mother, your staff made it very clear that non of the equipment on offer could be used as she was severely disabled, but they still pushed her to signing up for a membership. We also had a conversation with an assistant in the pool area, who informed us that the hoist base had been tiled over and the hoist itself couldn't be used as a tube was missing. This renders your gym wholly unsuitable for my disabled mother.
I was so disheartened that the whole experience was money and marketing needs. The whole point of the sign up was for me and my mum to enjoy this experience together.
There has been confusion on my part as I did not finalise this contract, because the gym was not disability friendly. I was also highly appalled on your marketing staff's behaviour towards my mother. It was also left that I would return with my desision in the finalisation of the contract.
I was so upset with the treatment we received and the discrimination against my severely disabled mother that I couldn't wait to leave.
I was informed a manager would contact me in regards to my concerns, yet I did not receive a call. I have had letters chasing me up to confirm my membership, I have avoid the letters due to upset from the situation. In doing this I was hoping to be left well alone. All in all I am completely disatfied with all aspects from total fitness.
5 working days later I receive an email of cancellation for membership yet no apology or acknowledgment of employees poor behaviour. This review is a personal experience of Total Fitness Prenton.

Price Increase With No Notice
When I signed up to the gym. I agreed to pay a certain amount a month which is £35 on corporate rate. How ever I checked my bank this morning and they had took £40. I called the Lincoln branch and I got told 'it's the terms and conditions' they apparently don't have to notify the the person that's paying for the gym.. when ever I asked a question 'it's in the terms and conditions' is the only answer he was giving me.. I then asked to cancel my gym membership due to rubbish customer service and no notice on price increase and I get told I can't do it over the phone. Absolutely pathetic. Feel free to contact me with better answers total fitness!

Gone Badly Down Hill Recently
Total fitness used to be nice. However there have always been problems, for example slow maintenance. Recently it's really declined. The pool is 1/3 given over to swimming lessons during peak time, and they often spill into a third lane, leaving the remaining pool dangerously overcrowded. Showering before swimming isn't required of the children for some reason, so hygiene is impacted. Lifeguard supervision of children is very variable, some lifeguards are good, some are ineffective. Children are also not supervised on the gym floor, some days they are literally running around. Some individual staff members try and keep the situation under control, but they don't seem to receive adequate support. Showers are terrible.
The worst comes when you try and cancel because you've simply had enough, at which point they fraudulently attempt to make you pay two months' notice rather than one.
Q&A
Does anyone know how much it is for over 55 membership at Chester?
