Pilates Aero 4295 This Machine I
Pilates Aero 4295
This machine is the BEST type of equipment for LOW IMPACT all-over workout in my opinion - there are 4 resistance cords ranging from easy up to hard when you become used to the exercising. When I bought mine from QVC about 3 years ago there was no 'Cardio Board' with it ( this is a type of trampoline which fits vertically at the end of the machine and you lie on the machine and basically do running steps or both feet pushes on it) so I bought one about 6 months later for £75 from QVC.
It came with 3 videos which are very comprehensive (if a little frenetic), a very good wall chart and a large rubber/foam mat on which to place the machine to prevent slippage when in use. The whole machine is very robust - it measures 109cm x 51cm x 43cm (43" x 20" x 17") when folded in and about 90" in length when extended; user weight is 136kg (300lb. /21.5st)
I have had problems with my lower- back and neck for years and I find that this machine DOES help, it seems to stretch out the relevant bits and eases a lot of the discomfort. It has also helped to keep me very fit - I am 66 and extremely active and healthy. ALL of the exercises are VERY easy to do and because it is based on the PILATES system worked out by Joseph Pilates in the 1930's (I believe) it does do all the things that an ordinary Pilates workout would do ie. If you went to classes and were taught what to do.
Each of the videos gives a comprehensive workout and you gradually build up until you do them all and they are amalgamated into one fully comprehensive session lasting about 45" - this only need to be done 2 to 3 times a week - you can do it daily if you want because of the low impact. You can even pick and choose what you want to do as it is all good exercise anyway!
The Cardio Board is great fun and believe me after a couple of minutes your heart rate increases and you feel as if you are actually running.
The initial cost of this equipment does seem a little high but if you take into consideration the fact that if you want to do Pilates you need to pay to be taught properly or join a Gym for at least £30 upwards per month (and sign a contract!) and that you can do this anytime, it is a really a good bargain.
The only drawback is the fact that, although QVC state - " Folds easily for storage and has rollers for easy movement" - the machine is VERY heavy and does, ideally, need two persons to move it safely. It does have a safety retainer pin for use when folded and can be stored perhaps under quite a high bed or in a fairly deep cupboard.
The only REAL problem that I have with this machine is that as soon as our mad cat hears it being set up he races in and sits on the end where he is liable to get mashed - he likes to get in on the act with everything, so I have to put him out of the room!
Joking aside, I have given 4* overall because of the weight of the machine but that does not detract from the fact that it IS a great piece of equipment and WELL WORTH THE MONEY and give the machine itself 5*
