Money Grabbers!!

Management need to start listening to their members, recent changes involving the classes in the studio are leaving members frustrated and anoyed. Removing classes that we all love, 2 body combat a week which is a popular class. Taking classes off fantastic self employed instructors and replacing with laim in house staff all part of cost cutting!! Not putting any other Les Mills classes on as they have to pay for licenses which quite frankly are the best out there suitable for all abilities with great coraography and music. Certain in house instructors are very clicky and you don't feel welcome to join in. Spin classes are impossible to get into some people turn up an hour before the class to get a pass.

The facilities in the gym are adequate you don't have to wait for equipment, music could be a bit louder and things could do with getting fixed quicker, water fountains been out of service for weeks!! TV in changing room been broken for months, film room is total waste of time always empty, no times advertised as to when the film starts so who wants to go and watch half a film!! Also far top dark in there you can't see the buttons to work the machines properly. The studio floor is always filthy which makes it slippy as well as when your doing mat work end up with other people's hairs in your mouth...

I hope this review gets read by fax and they pull their fingers out as this gym has the potential to be fantastic if they just start listening to their customers and make us feel like valued members.

I totally agree. There are no longer any pilates, yoga or body balance classes on. I am pregnant and do not want to do high impact classes. The showers are dirty in one of the cubicles a stain has been there for three years.

Good, But Needs Better Maintainence And Cleaning.

I've been a memeber of this gym for around a year and I quite like it. The machines are modern and there's enough of them. I've never had to wait for any cardio or fixed weight machines. The lighting is dimmed and decor modern. No harsh, bright lights which is a plus. I think it could probably do with being a little cooler in the cardio area but that's personal preference.

There are a few issues, the showers and pool area are dirty. A place like this must be making enough money to keep up on repairs, simple things like grouting etc. and how hard is it to clean. A proper clean with bleach in the wet areas. Some of the machines are dusty at times. I did though last week see someone doing a thorough clean on the rowing machines. Lets hope this continues.

Strange

This place could be so good but fails on vital points, namely customer service and cleanliness.Surly staff who apparently don't care, they turn up late to open up, really give the impression that opening up and actually being there is a damn nuisance to them.

The pool often has plasters, hair bands, sand, the other day a water bottle floating around.

Wierd sticky stuff round the edges of the pool, thick dust on top of the shower area, generally scummy.Often no shower gel, TV didn't work for weeks.

Aweful

Surly staff. Incredible noise, dirty and unhelpful! AND just try leaving, they harrass you for money, try and squeeze extra months out of you and generally behave badly. My advise is fill in the leaving form and get one of them to sign it and give you a copy. Best move I made.Leaving is a trauma. My best advice, dont join in the first place

Love Coming Here!

I'm not going to lie, the idea of joining the gym made me feel sick- particuarly this one as I'd already heard that it was a bit of a posers gym, but I went for a trial anyway- and loved it!

The gym is well laid out, clean, and have very helpful and lovely staff.

The classes are also really good and suit all capabilities; I honestly enjoy coming here and it never feels a chore.

Poor Cleanliness And Locker Rooms

I joined about 1 month ago as the prices are fair I I liked the layout of the gym area.

After a few visits I have found that the place is extremely unclean. Areas such as the steam room and around the pool are especially bad where grime can clearly be seen and felt. I have been to a few different chains of gyms in the last few years and this is the only one where you NEVER see any members of staff doing general cleaning during opening hours... not even the toilets. All members of staff just seem to hang around behind the reception desk.

The changing rooms are quite poor. Many of the lockers are broken. On my last visit there were no lockers available, when I went to tell the staff behind the desk their response was 'well this is peak time and it is January' letting me know that I could store my clothes in my car or leave them behind reception. On a number of visits I have left the gym near to closing time and the gym has been close to empty, but still many of the lockers have padlocks on... I can only imagine that many of the regulars like to reserve their locker ready for their next visit. Haven't a clue why the management allow this.

On the whole, If the gym was cleaned more often (or cleaned at all) and perhaps a few more lockers were added I think it would have the making of a good gym, but at the moment I am certainly regretting my subscription.

Quite Possibly The Best Gym In Manchester

I was origionally a member when the gym first opened but due to lack of facilities i left about 3 years ago, i've recently rejoined and the place has completely changed. The decor is bright and ultra modern, the facilities and machines have been massively improved so much so that it convinced me to come back.

The staff are extremely friendly and always helpful. What i really like is that the manager richard is always available and regulary visits the gym and serves at reception rather than hiding in an office if you need to voice any concerns.

The pool area although small is relaxing and child free most of the week so it is perfect for me however if your a regular swimmer this is probably not the best gym for you.

Before i joined fx i checked out the competition and found that facilities, staff, cleanliness and cost this was by far the best in the area and will definately be recommending it to others.

I Have Been To A Number Of Gyms And Spa Facilities

I have been to a number of gyms and spa facilities and this is by far one of the best in the area. The gym and changing rooms is cleaned regular during the day.

I have seen some dust under some of the larger equipment (the hard to reach places) but the gym is kept very clean. In the pool are i have notice the robe devider has marked the tiles on the pool side, but its not dirt and all the area is very clean.

any problems with an area, equipment ect are alway deal with very quickly

The staff all seem friendly, sometime there busy and others times they will chat, but always helpful and have a smiling welcome as you enter

The classes are great and I love Paul and Debbie classes, Spin, circuits, light and low, abs and the new body combat and body pump by les mills are great to

The only down fall to the gym is the lack of personal trainer employed by the gym, they have one, but it's if he can be bothered

They have a great selection of self employed personal trainers

Over all the gym is great value for money and is expanding the end of 2010 to 2011, as everyone now plans take time to get drawn up and approved by local Government. I'm sure the membership price will go up after all the work is completed, well for new members anyway.

I have never had my locker broken into or seen anyone that had! i did hear of another member of when it happened (if it did) but that 10 for 10days wasnt even on at the time. some people are just snobs and think there above the rest.

Changing Rooms Could Do With A Good Clean And Also

Changing rooms could do with a good clean and also the pool area around the tiles are filthy. There is dust in a ring all around the machines in the main area. Could just do with a good clean. Also too many £10 for 10 day deals going on as we have to pay full membership and as a result they dont know who is in or out so lockers are getting broken into and money, watches stolen. I was told 12 months ago that they would be extending the pool as its far too small and still nothing has been done.
