Still Going Well!

I have just replaced the motor and axle on my Powerbug Sport X which has given me excellent service for over 6 years.

The bug has the original battery which is still working well.

Very good service from Powerbug, their spares service was excellent.

Looking forward to another 5 or 6 years with my Power Bug Sport X

Golf is still rubbish!

Ha ha.... Sorry about your golf but happy that the Sport x is still going strong. The Sport X was sold through COSTCO up to some 8 years ago. Are you sure that yours is only 6 years old? If you require any further help or assistance the PowerBug team are always available. Happy golfing!

Lead Battery Trolley

Cheap and Cheerful, you really do get what you pay for. Quality of trolley is ok, I've had no issues in past 18 months. HOWEVER battery life is maximum 9 months - my first battery was replaced free of charge when it failed after 8 months use, now 8 months later, and my second battery has developed fault - but of course American Golf and Powerbug refusing to refund/replace. Off to the small claims court!!

Unfortunately, lead acid batteries can sometimes be a problem and this is why PowerBug offer a 12 month warranty against this type of battery. All trolley manufacturers offer a 12 month warranty against lead acid batteries and all trolley suppliers suffer issues assosiated with them to some degree or other. PowerBug supplied lead acid batteries have a very high quality rating within this sector but....... they can still cause issues when they fail......as in this case. Your battery was reported as faulty within its warranty period by American Golf to PowerBug and it was replaced without question after testing. PowerBug could have asked for expert proof that the battery had failed due to a manufacturers fault supplied by the customer. This was not requested. 8 months later, another report was made in relation to another failing battery (16 month after the original date of purchase). In line with the 1979 Sale of Goods Act, American Golf would have advised their customer that they had enjoyed 16 months of usage from a lead acid battery with a 12 month warranty and the warranty period had expired. The 1979 Sale of Goods Act is in place to protect the customer and also suppliers from unreasonable claimants as the small claims court would advise. This is what a retailer will reply upon.

It is encouraging however to read that aside from the battery issue, the trolley is performing very well and providing good service.

Lead acid batteries require close attention to their charging regime and a large contributor to failing batteries is sulphation due to poor battery maintenance. Infomation in relation to this can be found with a quick surf on the web.

Pro Tour Series Lead Battery Trolley

This trolly is the worst golf equipment i have ever bought. It's under powered unstable and the battery life is rubbish. The accessories are not the best i.e. the score card holder has to be positioned so far forward or the sky caddy holder so far rearward you can't see the speed numbers on the trolly just so you can open the score card lid. I had a PowaKaddy Classic for more than 15 years with no trouble compared this load of rubbish.

DON'T BUY THIS GET A DIFFERENT ONE

Powerbug Pro Sport

The Pro Sport is my third Powerbug trolley over a period of ten years. During this period I had three - the original with L handle; the Sport and finally the Pro Sport. Other than two speed control switches (takes 5 mins to replace even for the lease mechanical of us) all three have been 100% reliable. Also during this period at least 25 of my golfing pals have bought various Powerbug models and again, no breakdowns whatsoever - speed control switch being the exception, in some cases.

The Powerbug, Motocaddy and Trooper are all made by the same company in China. This company specialises in the manufacture of light aircraft and these trolleys reflect that company's exceptional design and manufacturing standards. Powerbug and Trooper have less gizmos than Motocaddy and the price reflects that.

IMO steer clear of Powakaddy (and derivatives of which there are lots) as they are significantly more expensive, are structurally and mechanically inferior and are plagued by design and quality issues. If you don't believe me just have a look on ebay and see the number of mechanical spare parts therein. There's a good reason for that.

For the record I have no association with Powerbug. I've posted this review for the benefit of others who might be swithering about which trolley to buy.

Thank you for your comments.

From 2008 we were able to 'switch' from the old potentiomitor speed control to a new digital platform. The old style was a mechanical solution and as with all moving parts did wear out. With the PowerBug brand expanding across Europe, growing production numbers gave us an economy of scale making the affordability of a digital platform a reality.

The good news... we believe that we have the most reliable product on the market

The bad news... Our on line spares sales are appalling!

Happy Golfing!

Great Quality Trolley

Very happy with my pro sport lithium. I manage 36 holes from the lithium battery on a single charge. The trolley just as reliable and impressive too. A great trolley and battery combo from Power Bug!

Hinge Is A Definite Weakness

We bought two in April 2011 and I encountered a hinge failure within a few weeks, American Golf were very good and handed over a replacement trolley readily. My Wife gave up and returned to her old Hill Billy Lite within a year while I continued to use the powerbug. The hinge assembly failed on that unit, but OK I could use my Wifes', that is until the hinge failed on that one too.

All these failures are on the lower part of the hinge, are identical in nature and indicate a manufacturing process weakness. The failure point is located at the weld line furthest from the injection point, and under the microscope there are clear indications that the weld is not forming as stongly as necessary. This could indicate poor injection tool temperature control.

As a final point I have been watching the Powerbug web site for replacement hinge assemblies since July 2013 and have seen them to be out of stock at every visit - seems there could be a high replacement rate going on here.

Hi my hinge also has snapped is there any videos on how to fit a new one.

Robpowerbug

Due to the infrequent requests for nylon components PB do not have this item on automatic re-ferb. As a result there was a stock issue for around 6 weeks whilst new stock could be obtained. With nearing 50,000 units in the market, PowerBug will see a demand for many items and try to stock to accommodate any eventuality. All electro mechanical devises will require attention from time to time

PowerBug quality is industry best and they are proud to advertise this

As always..... you cant please all the people all the time.

Its a shame........but a fact

Thankfully the PowerBug following is gaining massive momentum becoming a trusted friend to many golfers

Outstanding Customer Service

Having just bought a second hand powerbug trolley with accessories I was disappointed to note that the retaining screw on the umbrella holder was missing. I emailed Powerbug customer services asking how I could obtain a replacement screw and the cost. There was no way of ordering a replacement screw on the website that I could discover, although I was impressed by the range of spares available. I was delighted to receive a replacement screw in the post a few days later, but no invoice - FREE OF CHARGE! I knew Powerbug had a good reputation but I consider this to be exceptional, so I said so.

Very Impressed With My Trolley.

I am very impressed with my PowerBug that I purchased 18 months ago from American Golf.

I have had other trolleys in the past but none compare to the quality and simplicity of use of this trolley.

Q&A

Pennyellard

I have had a PowerBug Lithium golf trolley for two years and extremely pleased with it until this week. I put the battery to charge as usual but the green light on the charger does not come on after the normal time and if I leave it longer it still does not come on. Is this a problem with battery not charging or the charger not working?

Ianlorash64

Bought a power bug golf Trolley 13months ago but it pulls strongly to the right. Have tried messing with the wheel adjusters, nothing makes a difference, very poor trolley. Any suggestions other than scrap it?

Sickov_Anti-service

Firstly don't waste your time contacting Powerslug; they don't care about their products WITHIN the first 12months, let alone afterwards.

Is the battery holding charge? Because there are plenty of people here who

will buy the battery from you if it works!

Other than that I would list it on a selling site with the issue you state - you may be able to sell for a reasonable amount.

Good luck.
