Checkatrade are a joke. I hired a trade through them. Once initial contact made, the contact moved to text messages. Checkatrade REMOVED that trade as untrustworthy. I was never notified and believed I had hired a trusted trader. Work commenced. There were issues but I did let a majority go. In the July, despite there being some work left to do, the tradesman asked me for a Checkatrade review and sent me a link to his ‘new’ Checkatrade account.

I never saw him again. I tried making contact but was dodged and had no shows. Then he changed his number. I tracked him down via Checkatrade and made contact though Checkatrade (which would be the first ‘official’ contact to this page according to data on chekcatrade). He still dodged me. I reported all of this to Checkatrade. I was asked if I could link the original account to the new one. I could as I still had all the messages showing this as the same person. I sent in excess of 26 screenshots. All time and date stamped. And what do Checkatrade do…. Refuse the Checkatrade guarantee as my ‘number’ can’t be linked to the ‘new’ trade other than the review and the phone calll so that don’t meet the criteria!! Well of course not! Why would my number link to that prior to the review! That account didn’t exist in March! Why ask me for evidence to shaft me?

And also, why would this trade send me another trade to leave a review. Cmon guys. Be logical! Very disappointed

Your management really need to listen back to the evening phone call from the 17th January when I rang and the advice the employee gave me. Placed my trust in Checkatrade, was massively let down

Does not complete contract, bad workmanship and won't reply to messages to come and remedy the job or complete the contract. Definitely one to avoid

When things go wrong do not rely on Checkatrade to help.

Despite substandard work, a tradesman intimidating my mother into paying & the tradesman not responding to either Checkatrade or us, Checkatrade have taken no action & continue to allow them to advertise on the Checkatrade page. Money before morality!

I think they are completely untrustworthy company.

I just signed up and they don't even check if I was a reputable tradesmen.

I think they are shocking to deal with.

I only signed up for 3 months in their local brochure. They told me I would pay monthly for 3 months and then I would appear in the following brochure when the new one comes out. I haven't even been in the new brochure and they have taking money out my account for the next 3 months which I wasn't interested in because the service has been shocking to say is an understatement. I received a email to say they will take money out literally just before they took the money came out the bank. I tryed logging to my account to cancel the payment. This didn't work because I believe they stopped me from logging in as I knew my details. I even tryed to ask for to reset my password but this couldn't been done as no text messages came to me. I then tryed the send a email to their help service but this come bouncing back to me. I can really smell a rat hear. I then decided to call them and ask for my money back but they told me a director needs to call me. They said I would receive a call within 24 hours but of course you guessed it no call come. They are complete scamers.

The gentleman from oven rescue who came to clean my sisters and then my oven did a brilliant job. I couldn’t believe how lovely my cooker looked. He was both polite and professional and I would recommend him 100% to other family and friends great job ????????????

I have 2 patios a path , stepping stones, turfing and garden bed preparation done GA Landscapes I rate them 5 * in all aspects of their work. They turned up when they said they would, did not charge extra for small additional jobs, cleaned well at the end of each day. took away rubbish and left my garden looking lovely = what more could I ask?

Hired a plasterer to skim a chimney breast. He's absolutely messed it up. A child could have done a better job. I'm devastated and left with trying to find a real plasterer to fix the mess.

worst website ever. the reviews are suspicious! we just got tricked by one roofer who has excellent 5 star reviews on the website and the person deleted their page straight away afterwards. When we go to the website ask about it, the website asked us why we didn't give a bad review! Yes, we would if they bring the page back! Apparently, what happened to us isn't an unusual case according to others' experience. This kind of website should be down.

They reported my reviews on another website as fake, which was not true and after showing proof it was reinstated. So Checkatrade is abusing that fake review mechanism.

1st April, over 4 months later:

After sending all the photos and proof to Checkatrade to claim under their guarantee, more than once, they still have not accepted any claim or paid any money under the guarantee.

I will never use Checkatrade ever again and I will advise everyone I know never to trust their assurances or guarantee, it has proved to be a giant mistake.
