This Is A Very Quiet, Clean Holiday Site Featured

This is a very quiet, clean holiday site featured on Hoseasons. It is situated in beautiful countryside, yet close to Ilfracombe and Woolacombe. There are no on-site facilities like clubs and pools, but it is ideal if you just want a restful break in a quiet spot. The chalet accommodation is basic yet comfortable. If you want luxury then pay for it. The only downside is the stone path and steep incline to most of the chalet accommodation. It can be slippy in the rain and it would not suit most people with mobility needs. The owners seem like considerate helpful people and they have adopted rescue horses from Exmoor that are friendly and always welcome a pat in the nearby field.

Booked With Hoseasons And Stayed At Grattons Cedar

Booked with Hoseasons and stayed at Grattons Cedar Lodges in Berrynarbor, North Devon on 29 MMay 3010. 2 adults & 1 child aged 12. It had 2 bedrooms and alledgely was for 4-6 people with a sofa bed!! There was hardly any living area so quite how 6 would manage!

These lodges were built in the 60s/70s and haven't been touched since, inside or out! We stayed in "Seagull" and it was very dirty, mouldy and the sofa, chair and beds were uncomfortable. The double bed just fitted the room and three sides of it were against the walls and once in had to climb over hubby to get in or out if he was asleep. The shower consisted of a shower tray on the floor in the corner and a shower curtain which stuck to you the whole time as there was not much room and I'm slim and only 5'4"! (The shower head was thick with mould) Our lodge was not beside the car park area and it was a steep climb and hard work with all our belongings. We left early and intended to complain but the owners had gone out even though reception should have been open at that time and left the keys in envelopes taped to the reception door for the arrivals that day, charming!!

It was a lovely area and central for attractions but we would never go there again

I stayed at these lodges a couple of years ago - a family of four & a dog. I agree that they are small, and a larger family would struggle for space, but the lodge was absolutely spotless and the owners were on hand and extremely helpful. The lodges are extremely good value for money. I am sure that if the reviewer had paid a little extra elsewhere then they would have got exactly the facilities that they were looking for.

Grattons is absolutely a lovely spot and in my experience, none of the negatives mentioned are fair at all.

Yes, the lodges are not large but are very clean, functional and offer great value for money. If you pay twice or three times the price then you'll get a bigger bed and shower but unlikely you'll have those views and tranquil place to relax and enjoy the location.

I have stayed at Grattons Cedar Lodges & completely disagree with the comments that the lodges were not clean, i think they must have been looking for something to complain about. I am fussy & found the lodges to be clean & comfortable.
