Incompetent Or Dishonest
I flew to Malta, via Munich with tickets bought through Air Malta. What a mistake. I tried to secure isle seats because of my bad knees and frequent bathroom breaks I need at my age. i spent several hours over three days calling the airlines trying to secure an isle seat to no avail. Air malta claims it is Lufthansa, Lufthansa claims it is air Malta. Somehow, I trust Lufthansa more, having flown with them repeatedly and never having such a problem. This is the first and last time I fly Air Malta. They are incompeten and unable to handle international customers. there is no reason to make seat selection so difficult.
Hi,
I am very sorry to hear of your negative experience and would like to look into your case. Could you kindly email me quoting your booking code and contact details.

Come To Malta Without Airmalta
I had been left on the runway by AirMalta repeadedly spite of overbooking! The airport of departure said, I would get compensation. At arrival in Malta, non did get any information although sent to Malta by Swissport. Absence of organization or dishonesty I do not know. However, that AirMalta does not have qualified and trained personal to handle problems I can confirm. In Malta I went twice to the airport and non was interested to help, except handing over an email address of customer service. I have to admit that the staff was nice to me although non took an effort to find a solution to my problem. Bottom line: come to Malta to vacation but without AirMalta or chances are that you will not arrive or depart the day you booked!
Dustgusted Disgrunted Disappointed
I booked a weeks holiday as a reward for my son passing out in the Armed Forces.
The flight was booked at 6pm on the Monday, Tues morning at 10am my son rang to advise he is being deployed half way thru' the hol.
Under the terms and conditions of Air Malta regarding "Force Majeure" due to circumstances beyond his control. No refund is due only air port taxes.
After two and thro' with Air Malta, they flatly refuse a refund, knowing quite well they would be able to re-book that flight, therefore, getting paid twice!!!!! Air Malta could quite easily afford a 300.00 refund.
Air Malta needs to adhere there rules and regulations and be more customer friendly, also to respect Armed Forces official notification.
'Force Majeure' for an airline is usually equal to what some might refer to as 'Act of God' (hurricanes, floods, volcano eruptions etc).
The circumstances referred to in your complaint, do not fall under the legal term 'Act of God' therefore in such cases one would suggest the use of travel insurance or paying a rebooking fee thus reissuing the ticket on another date.
Wikipedia might describe it a bit more in detail.
I take it you are not in the Armed Forces!!
You simply cannot go against their deployment protocol once they have advised that you will be deployed which was out of my sons control. (Which incidentally was backed up by Senior Officials.
My disgust is not with the Airline themselves, as I have flown with Air Malta for over twenty years, twice a year with no problems or issues,. It's the fact that it states under their policy and procedures that under Force Majeure rules a full refund would be enforced due to deployment.
I rest my case
The person making the complaint is not being fair so how can readers sympathise? It wasn't AirMalta who ruined the son's holiday but it was the Armed Forces. On the same reasoning their owner (the Government) could quite easily afford a 300.00 refund (!)
Caveat emptor
I rest my case.

Punctual Airline With Good Service
With airlines these days cutting back on service (but not fares), it is nice to see that Air Malta offers a much more enjoyable old-fashioned style of service!
Flying from London Heathrow to Malta (3 hours 10 minutes) and back again (3 hours 25 minutes), I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of service. On a relatively short flight, I didn't expect a hot meal to be served, but rather a sandwich or a wrap.
The only downside is that the airline does not offer a complimentary bar throughout the flight. All passengers can enjoy free soft drinks with their meals (including various Coke products) but alcoholic beverages are mostly charged at €2.50. After meal service, soft drinks are charged at €1.00. Still water, sparkling water, apple juice and orange juice are offered at no additional cost during the flight. Note that on charter flights, charges apply for all drinks all of the time.
Both flights were on time, with the outbound even getting out of Heathrow 20 minutes early. The return left late by about 15 minutes due to congestion in London but it still landed right on time.
With Air Malta being the only full fare airline on the London to Malta route, I will certainly use them again. I prefer not to fly low cost or charter.
Flight Delays
Why do air Malta not advise customers when they know

Steward Caused Quarrels And Asked For Arrest Of A Passenger
I was travelling on a return flight No. 782 Malta - Athens - Sofia, on the 9 April 2012. The the steward from the cabin crew created a problematic situation on board of the plane while it was waiting at the Athens airport. Due to his improper actions and behaviour he went into a conflict with one of the passengers, escalated it into a quarrel over the passenger's boarding card. Luckily the quarrel was soon over and the passenger was calmed down and seated. About 15 minutes later the steward without any reason called the police and told them to take the passenger down, not allowing him the continue his flight to Bulgaria. The passenger was arrested due to the improper, not timely and inadequate actions of the cabin crew steward. His behaviour was insulting, causing quarrels and problems. Asking the police to come and take down the passenger was more an act of revenge against the passenger than an action that was really necessary. During the entire situation the capitain did not interfere and take any action or responsibility of the situation on board.I was travelling on a return flight No. 782 Malta - Athens - Sofia, on the 9 April 2012.
