Copenhagen, Kong Arthur Hotel

If you are out until the early hours then maybe the Kong Arthur hotel in Copenhagen will be fine for you. If you need a reasonable amount of sleep leave it alone. Despite being set back from the road at the front, the traffic noise is considerable early morning. At the back there is nightly noise from restaurants, clubs and people coming and going especially at the weekend. The rooms and corridors are so hot, with no air conditioning so the windows have to be open. The rude facetiousness of the reception staff whan a complaint is made suggests that they are used to it. Of course the hotel charges you for a room in which you cannot sleep and also owns some of the establishments which make the noise. Maybe some of the rooms are quiet but not many will have escaped the racket until 4am which went on Friday and Saturday nights that we were there. And we are not light sleepers. If we had known about the noise problem we would not have booked here. We spent a lot of time shattered through lack of sleep. The management of the hotel are content to carry on disappointing guests as long as the bookings come in. Superficially it is a hotel with some attractive features, but the rooms are small, bathrooms not good with poor showers, and of course the heat.
