Hoover WMH168D Washing Machine

My washing machine likes to dance around kitchen....dented panel due to hitting pipe work. Have had an engineer out on 5 occasions now....still leaking and bouncing around the room. Will not do half loads. Will never buy Hoover again RUBBISH.!!the last visit left the repair man scratching his head!

Very dissapointed with this machine.

Sounds like we have a similar story to many other people. We needed a new machine asap and purchased this in a rush, pushy salesman in Currys, deal will end toinght blah, blah, blah, also guarunteed that Hoover was a reliable brand and good quality machine. Really wish we had gone home, done some homework and read some reviews. Only problem with this approadh is that the manufacturers change their model numbers on a regular basis. Therefore you have to opt to purchase an 'old' model with a track record, or take a punt on a new machine with no reviews.

After about a year the door seal failed and thankfully was replaced under warranty. The main problem though is that machines spin cycle was always quite noisy, but the vibrations got gradually worse and worse. After a couple of years the vibrations got so bad that the 'out-of-balance' spin sensor kicked in and the machine refused to spin. This started intermittanly but progressed to faling to spin approx 90% of the time (even on full loads).

Being an Engineer I decided to strip the machine and investigate. Conclusion - The spring and damper setup is completely wrong. The dampers are place below the machine in a near vertical position. therefore they so not react any of the sideways motion of the drum. Also the damper pin connection is relatively loose and does not effectively transmit small loads.

Our machine is about three years old now, like others I have thought about contacting Hoover/Candy, but opted not to waste my time. I have chose to replace the machine with a Bosch model and going to scrap the old machine. Lesson learnt, buy cheap and replace every 3 years....

The moral of this story is, read the reviews before you buy. More importantly I can,t believe Hoover are,nt aware of this hapless machine. I,m sure it should of been recalled. I,m awaiting an engineers call. Probably to tell me its going to cost a lot to mend. I seriously think this machine should be referred to trading standards as its not suitable for its purpose. I think if this machine was plumbed into a football field it would bang and travel from goal to goal!

nothing but problems with this machine from day one taught floor was level but no the banging and dancing is unbearable hoover should b ashamed the money for this is not cheap never buy again hoover your gonna loose lots of customers because of this and shame on currys recommending it never again I will blacklist your name

I would say that this has to be the worst purchase ever. Had I known how bad this machine was I would not have wasted my money calling out an engineer a couple of months ago and parted with over a hundred pounds. I have experienced the machine jumping around , concrete falling off , etc. Needless to say I will purchase another washing machine which will hopefully last more than 3 years and not Hoover.

The worst machine ever bangs jumps on spin no matter what load is in it even tired it empty and still the same its level and on flat floor

Only got 3years out of machine and when I rang Hoover the lady on phone said that's good.washes and spins great but value for money I'll never touch Hoover or candy again.and for the 5 year guarantee I was told when buying from currys in Dublin is only a one year

Bought this machine in January 2012 because of its large capacity and variable spin speeds. However, if you don't want it to wash for hours then you have to put up with a spin speed of 800 which generally means you need to spin again! And whenever you spin its the noisiest washing machine ever and it jumps around the room leaving black marks from the feet all over the floor.

Have had to replace the bushes twice, which I did myself as the labour cost was ridiculous so not worth having a 5 year guarantee. It has now gone bang (literally) altogether after only 3 years!!

Will not be buying another Hoover.

We bought the machine in January 2012. Liked the speed, capacity and price.

No initial problems, so wrote a favourable review when asked by Reevoo. You'll notice that all their favourable reviews are written shortly after purchase.

But time tells!

The combination of high speed abd high capacity doesn't work. It produces excessive vibration, loud bangs, and movement around the floor of up to 50 cm each cycle!

The engineer called today for the third time. Very pleasant, very quick, and very loyal to Hoover!

Another new programmer, another software update.

We'll see!

We used to trust the Hoover brand. No more. This is a shoddy machine which Hoover should offer to replace.

I bought this machine for three reasons: a) Immediate availability from the shop (Currys), I needed a machine urgently. b) larger than standard capacity, 8kg and c) 29 min wash programme.

I have not been disappointed on any element. Every wash, whatever programme I choose is exactly what it should be and good results are delivered every time.

I am not particularly careful when I load up the machine i.e. I do not worry whether it is loaded level or not - I just 'bung' the load in, although I do make sure I never overload it but I have never had my machine 'walking around' the room. In fact it's never moved at all.

I have had the machine nearly 2 years now and can only speak as I find and that is, a totally reliable machine which gives excellent wash results and still looks good and performs well after 2 years.
