Quite Possible The Worst Free Email Service On Earth!
Are these positive reviews being purchased? I find it shocking that anyone would even consider giving 5 stars to mail.com even if it did work properly! It is quite simply the absolute worst email service I have ever used.
- Ads, constant and plentiful. Even for a free email service it is shocking, and much worse than gmail, yahoo, yandex, literally anything I've tried. Huge banners, large ads that take up more screen space than your actual emails, constant annoying pop-ups, mail.com has them all and incessantly.
- Customer service, zero. The only way to attempt to contact them is through a generic "help" tab maze, and they will not reply to any contacts other than to send the exact same form letter again and again which results in a "customer service" loop with no help and no resolution.
- Tech support, zero. Same as above.
- Features, zero. It's a basic read-and-write email program with zero features. If you're used to gmail, yahoo, yandex, basically any other email program, you will be disappointed by this service.
- Spam filters, zero. It seems like absolutely all spam mail will make it into your inbox.
- Reliability, zero. Especially if using this to send out messages to your entire family, groups of friends, or customer lists, other mail services (particularly gmail) have flagged all mail.com domain names as security risks, so your mail will either never show up in others' inboxes at all, or will be flagged and sent to their spam folders pretty reliably. Worst of all, there's no way for you to know that this is happening without asking people "did you get that email?"
- Security, zero. Frequent hacks resulting in embarrassment, lost messages, and worst of all lost accounts (see below).
- Lost Accounts - even if it is not your fault (i.e. their error, an attempted hacking, your password being "flagged" for any reason), mail.com's only response is to lock you out of your account, and there is no way for you to recover it (see customer service/tech support above). The form letter for this one tells you that the account is to be deleted and irrecoverable, and they mean it. They will not under any circumstances return access to your emails, or even let you use it again, and they will pretend it's "impossible" to do so. Why? Who knows. But the account will remain active, so other people (i.e. friends, business associates and customers) who have this email address can still try to contact you and will simply think you aren't bothering to return their emails!
I can't say enough how much this email service is NOT worth the money, even the free version because it will cost you time and even lost profits if you use it for business - and they quite simply DO NOT CARE one bit.
All of the problems are simply a way to try to force you to purchase one of their "premium" accounts.
Deceptive, Unethical, Cruel
This mail app has been issuing private relays to 1 iCloud account for the past two years if not more and has been spamming every account the User has ever established, User’s entire family, friends, professional and personal contacts and community. Using private relays, switching Hidden emails and ruining the user’s credit, accredited, accomplishments, professional network, and reputation, and if that wasn’t enough, not only wiped out the users complete financial stability and future, and also ruined any chance of this user ever being normal again so I would never recommend this app not ever
Awful
Spam filters are unreliable and sometimes block you for sending email. They fob you off if you complain and somertimes I see close your account. Stay well away from MAIL.COM
Treated Like A Terrorist By Mail.com
One of my email addresses I used to email daily very often to a friend. Someone who doesn't use any messenger nor doesn't want to.
A few weeks ago my account was having issues sending emails and I contacted the support. All normal things like uninstall/reinstall didn't help.
My friend told me at that time that my emails came in the Spam. Not tech-savvy I wasn't added to the white list, but my emails were moved into the inbox.
A few days later I could not send emails any more to Hotmail. And a part of my IP address was blocked. Please note, I rent an apartment with WiFi included. No idea which (Bulgarian) provider I have. So no possibility for me to contact them. And for such issue I am not going to contact the landlord.
The same day I got the message in my application that I was blocked out of my account. So I contacted the support of mail.com.
Only to learn that I am treated as a criminal/terrorist or even worse:
Our security department has examined activities coming from your account and determined that your account will remained blocked. Please understand that we cannot change a decision taken by the security department and that we have no additional explanation to offer because they will not share the exact reason for the block.
No explanation, no possibility to defend myself against something I for sure have not done. Nothing!

Waist Of Time, Stay Clear
This email provider is a Joke. I have 2 accounts with them. One personal and another one business. The first time they blocked my personal account and now the have blocked my business account due to activity, what activity, I am a logo designer !!! The email maybe free but they are not to be trusted. You will setup an account and after a few months they will block you. Its not worth the stress and unprofessional service you will get from this provider.
They are a scam, that only wants your data.

Ignore The Fake Bad Reviews..
I actually use mail.com free service and have done so for some time. I have recommended it to several friends and they too are all happy. Never let me down or had any technical trouble, even for some legal communications with solicitors.
Most of the bad reviews are fairly obviously fake reviews from non users and use simply dish abuse that is not justified - likely paid 'assassins' from competitor email serves who hate mail.com because it works well and is free. What have you got to lose, try it yourself, perhaps as a 2nd email account, then you can come to your own conclusions.
I have the same issues and the only person I wish to chastise is now you for writing such nonsense. Avoid MAIL.COM at all costs.
For A Few Days I Was Happy, Then Errors On Sending
Simply has too many restrictions for the free service. Lucky i didn't pay for the premium service. Emails don't get sent with an error: 'try again later' email addresses bounce for obscure reasons but 'if you pay for premium' then it works.
Essentially i went back to gmail and used a variation of the name i needed.
what a hassle this all was.

Free But Unreliable
I registered with mail.com when uk2 notified me that their free service would be discontinued. On the surface mail.com looks great - free, with lots of additional benefits. However, 2 weeks on, I couldn't log on and was told by their "support" section that my account was being deleted due to inactivity for more than 6 months, and nothing could stop the process. This as at about 10.00 am - I had been using the account at 5.30 that morning. Their attitude was effectively "tough, you've lost your emails and data". Avoid at all costs. This service is provided by 1&1, so you might think twice about using them as well

I tried once to login from a different pc and my account was permantly blocked after only one try. Ridiculous. Avoid mail.com at all costs.
