Pobox Once Great Now Expensive Headache

PROs

Up to 3 email addresses (good for lifetime?)

Emails forward to one private email address.

Good for burner/spam email address

CONs

Expensive at $20/year.

One great, now terrible service.

When problems are verified they finger point rather than fix.

NOT RELIABLE for business emails, or important personal email. Moved my business emails off pobox.

Customer service does nothing to fix problems, sometime do not even respond.

OVERALL

Now I can not even send a party notice to 10-20 friends!!

Flags as SPAM.. Joined in 1996 for $5/year. Great service. Now $20/year, riddled with issues, no service, poor performance, emails take too long to forward or just dis-appear without a trace.

Have a list of other problems, private and business emails simply disappear. Including Nationwide insurance PDF Policy emails sent to POBOX simply disappear. No trace. Verified by Nationwide. Verified by POBOX who finger points. Have other email services, no problems, just POBOX. Working on disconnecting from POBOX.

Recently secure PDF tax return emails from my CPAs to POBOX simply disappear. No trace. Verified by after 1 week of problems..

Old And Outdated Technology

Pobox Service will frequently miss spam and allow it and phising attacks directly to your inbox. Their only solution that they provide to your customers is to create a manual filter to block their missed spam. I share with them how Microsoft's Hotmail automatically learns that missed mail that I block does successfully get blocked in the future, but pobox offers no such solution. If you wish to spend your time creating lots of filters to block missed spam, this is the service for you. Otherwise, I suggest you do business elsewhere. Note that I had service with them for 17 years to cancel this year. I am happier now after finding a new email provider.

Very Poor Customer Service

I have tried so hard to move my domain and email services to Pobox but they take so long to answer a simple query, if they even answer at all. They had problems verifying my domain due to domain privacy settings and I myself had to offer a solution that worked. Once this was done I was advised by automatic email to wait for the next set of instructions - they did not arrive!! I emailed a few days later to ask for these settings/instructions but I did not even get a reply to that email.

If they are not going to answer emails that will generate sales/income for them imagine what the service would be like if you had an issue during the service term.

Such a shame as I really liked the concept of an emailed spam report, the facility to release good mail, the option to block certain countries etc. Useless to me without Pobox processing my account in the manner advertised.

I will continue with Zoho mail who have always provided an excellent support service, even for the free account.

Pobox Customer For 13 Years!

For thirteen years POBOX has been fantastic. They are reliable, fast, and do the job. I bought a Mailstore web service instead of just the forwarding, and I am very happy with it. You are given a choice of using Round Cube webmail or Atmail. I prefer the Roundcube, but either is very good. The mailbox size is HUGE, and the ability to create aliases is something I take advantage of. I would recommend this to everyone.

Was A Good Service In 1996, Not Anymore.

This service has gone down hill and gotten very expensive since IC Group took it over. In 1996 it was a snappy service for $5/year. Now $20/yr it is clunky; with a slow WEB site, slow forwarding, and SPAM protection that causes issues, like not being able to view or release held emails. Forwarding at times may slow email delivery to 20 min or more. Customer service is poor, if they respond at all. The last check sent them was cashed but never applied to my account. pobox.com has not responded my customer service requests.

Loved it and recommended POBox in 1996; Not anymore ... My "email address for life" has failed me ... Now I need to find another service and notify countless senders.

Disappointed long time pobox.com customer.

Worst Experience In 15 Years

The so supposed "great" pobox.com is a strictly amateur operation with tech personal who probably cant spell the word tech...I don't know where these folks are coming from with all the praise, but this is not what my friends and I have experienced. At the surface they appear to function well untill you unknowingly email a friend something that unknown to you contains flagged words [ in my case that was 'REAL MILITARY MEN" ]and you find yourself automatically cutoff. Badbam badaboom, you cant use your email service since your account is deactivated due to spamming!!!! NO WARNINGS OR QUESTIONS!!!!!And if this happens friday evening, you are left hanging til monday morning. It had happened to me half a dozen times now and yes I did get an apology and reinstated right away, but that is not what I pay big bucks for. If they dont have a clue how to calibrate their spam filters...well that is amateurish...!!!

I have been a customer of comcast since 1996 and aliencamel.com [now closed] for many years as well and have never had a problem ever!!!!

A friend of mine who is a real techie for a large corporation reviewed what has been happening to me and laughed. He described pobox.com's inability to understand proper spam flagging protocol as "AMATEUR HOUR".

I discovered that gmail will do even more than pobox.com and for free.

A free account with google's GMAIL has unlimited email, pop/imap forwarding, real spam filtering and MANY more things for free!!!!

So i opened a free GMAIL account and get the same if not better service than pobox.com. FOR FREE!!! AND NO AMATEUR HOUR!!!!

Best Email Service Available

When it comes to email, reliability is a major factor in putting a service to the test, and POBox.com passes that test with flying colors. Initially designed as a spam filtering and forwarding service, they now provide webmail along with POP and IMAP options.

For years I used the mainstream free services such as Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail and others with mixed results. After using POBox.com, I'm never looking back.

PROS: *High degree of reliability.

* World class spam filtering using Spamcop DNSBL and Cloudmark. Spam never reached your inbox and little chance of legitimate email being filtered as spam.

* Convenience: Mailstore subscribers can not only access their mail by all popular methods, you can also elect to have a copy of your mail forwarded to multiple other email accounts or services, creating as much redundancy in storing your email as you choose. You also get 10GB of storage.

* Customer Service" It actually exists and a staff that actually cares about the satisfaction of their customers. Anytime I had a question, a simple email ALWAYS brought a response in a timely manner, even on weekends.

* Respect for Customer privacy: Unlike those free services, POBox.com doesn't use data mining or advertising to create revenue. It's a paid service and therefore they are selling a quality product instead of your information.

PRICE: Various prices for different levels of service. A Mailstore account with the other bells and whistles will cost your $50 a year. A reasonable price if your email is important to you.

************************

CONS: * No Exchange or ActiveSync. This would mainly be a concern for iPhone users as mail will only push to an iPhone by these methods. Essentially, this simply means that your iPhone will poll for your mail every 15 minutes. Of course, if you're using their forwarding service and access your mail via a Hotmail account, it becomes a non-issue.

To Get Pobox.com Was The Best Advice I Ever Had Re

To get Pobox.com was the best advice I ever had regarding email. Sometimes you move and your ISP does not service the area. Sometimes they get gobbled up by another corporation, or you find a better price! Each time you have to 'tell' all your contacts you have moved.

I have had the same 'address' since 1998 and about six ISP's. John K

I Have Been With Pobox, Now, For 8 Years And I Can

I have been with pobox, now, for 8 years and I can honestly say they have never let me down with their redirection service. There's the occasional glitch but what company doesn't have that? The spam screening is superb and, having an e-mail address out in the wild for 8 years it is bound to be harvested. I only get one or two a month by-passing their screening. I thoroughly recommend them and have done to several friends all of whom are pleased with the service.
