Stay Away

Cutting a long story short, we paid £180 for appearing on Bing at the top of the listings page. This was paid i think quarterly.

When i emailed to cancel I received a very unprofessional response saying i cant cancel as i need to give 90 days notice from renewal of new contract.

I checked and we where well within the 90 days they required. So first lie from AnswerIT.

They then said i needed to pay a cancellation fee of £199. I asked them to send through the paper work that I had signed that stated we would have to pay a cancellation fee. They said we hadnt signed anything because as as soon as we give bank details, that is us signing into there terms and conditions.

Absolute rubbish. I am now being threatened with further action, which i presume is court.

I will be in touch with Citizens advice but i will not be bullied by any company.

Stay Away!

My advice is to stay away from this shoddy lot. I have been hounded and hounded by pushy salesmen. I have now received a summons for £299.00 for a package I have not even asked to be renewed. I have asked to cancel in the past and they have tried to make it so difficult. They use bully tactics and have called several times a day...we have just had to leave to answerphone as are sick of them calling. Needless to say I will be arguing the summons, how dare they.

Sorry to hear this. They put two and two together and realised what I had written here, became very rude with me down the phone...and even more unprofessional than they had been! I refused to pay anything and eventually I received a call from them claiming that I had been sent it in error and to ignore it...I have never heard from them since and don't want to...best to stay well away from them but do argue it and don't pay them a thing...good luck.

I am currently in the same situation, how did you get on?

Had a website created and hosted by another company that Answer It took over. Like most other posts I have received nothing but aggression and stress from this company - forced to pay for hosting despite hating having to give this company a single penny. If you don't pay you loose your website as well as the hosting despite having already paid separately for the site.

Received an invoice last Thursday only because they had been unable to collect money via their automated system and have been hassled several times a day every day since; by Tuesday I had a letter threatening court action for non payment of an invoice that was THREE days old!

Feel that I have no choice but to pay up.

Anybody reading this please take note and steer well clear of this company!

Waste Of Money

This is the email I sent to them

Dear Sirs,

Firstly, accept this email as cancellation of the TARGETED face book campaign detailed in the invoice below.

Furthermore can you arrange a refund as you have not carried out what was promised ie a campaign targeted at a demographic of nature lovers, bird watching / feeding and outdoor interests. I was told you would pick up on users previous searches for items related to these activities.

The information sent to me has been minimal.

I was not and have still not been told when the advert went live.

The impression given in your sales pitch was that I would have access to the impressions and clicks report and be able to see the demographic of activity.

The only thing I have had is an email showing impressions as shown in the image below which also shows the minimal targeting.

I contacted them by email 16/12/2010 regarding the demographic after his email showing the impressions.

I was contacted by phone at a time I couldn't take the call. She agreed to call back in one hour. That was the last I heard from you until I got your renewal email showing 62505 impressions. An increase of only 1500 in almost 10 days. Perhaps you could show me the information on a daily basis and we can see when the impressions peaked, Given your targeting I imagine it was very quickly. You say you keep showing the ad, but that is of little use at he rate of 150 per day.

I am extremely disappointed with the reality and what was was promised. Your attention to details in pre sales and contract negotiation, compared to providing an effective campaign, seems to be split 80% - 20% in favour of pre-sales.

I get a click through rate of 15% for a similar targeted ad on google adwords so even taking into account the fact social networks achieve around 20% of the response to google your results 0.0528% are pathetic, but to be expected as you failed to target the ad,

Yours

Very disappointed

Rip Off Company

I too like other reviewers were with a previous company and this answer it co. took it over. They have done nothing to help my on line campaign. This week they took over £200 out of my account, off my debit card without authority. I contacted my bank and they have got my money back and had to cancel my card so they can't take any more.

This is a bad company and I will be reporting them to trading standards.

Do not be taken in by them it will cost you dear. You can not get hold of anybody, the phone number is an answer phone. And they do not get back to you.

Answer It Rip Off!

I too have had nothing but problems with this company !! Last year they took money from my bank account without my permission - I contacted trading standards about this transaction and the poor service they provide which does not fit the description. I sent an email March 2013 and they confirmed that no more money would be taken.

Low and behold three days ago ( Dec 2013) a very aggressive marketting manager contacted me to complain that my card had been rejected- this despite my cancellation last year?? he went on to say that I was in breach of terms & conditions (despite never having signed anything and despite the fact that I cancelled last year?

Oh and on top of all this- what do they actually do? theres no proof of google optimisation and they only ever get in contact when they want you to give them money- despite being promised monthly reports I have received ZILCH.

Freeindex or DIY google optimisation brings better results. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS

Aggressive And Pushy

Unfortunately I have to agree wiht the other reviewers. There Facebook and bing campaigns have done nothing for my business, in fact it's been less expensive and much more effective to post a few pay per click adds myself. It's taken me 6 months to get rid of them, a very costly mistake.

Do not agree anything with this company, they are very clever at what they do and will convince you to go with them promising fantastic results, once you have agreed getting out is impossible as they then have a cancellation fee which is ridiculous in cost and therefore forces you to stay with them as in the short term it's cheaper.

When asking them to show me the campaign and prove it works they can't , all they can offer is there own email detailing statistics from there 'tech guy'

What a load of rubbish stay clear in fact if they contact you just hang up

Luckily my card number has been changed and therefore they can no longer take payments, they are now threatening legal action from there local collection agent who's apparently In the area ha ha ha

Gosh, you guys must be on a different planet, or working for Answer IT group.

My experience was the same as all the other reviewers- Don't touch them with a barge pole !

The only hard work and dedication they show is in their single-minded dedication and aggression in getting money out of their "victims ".

I also got threatened with a local collection agent , whom I contacted by phone- He said he and his company wished to have nothing to do with them !!!

This company is great! I had nothing but amazing service and the end results were fan-dabby-dozzy. They are honest, clinical and very hard working. Its 5 stars from me folks!

Countryrose1

I am another who has to agree with the above, do not go with them they will not deliver on their promises and if you dare to question them they become aggressive as mentioned in another post. We have to put this down to experience but please learn from our mistakes.

seh1g09

Please listen to this post! I have never been so disappointed in the level of service and performance of a company before. Carry on reasearching and find a better online marketing company - it won't be difficult because they really are terrible!

Do Yourself A Favour....avoid These People!!

We were unfortunate enough to come into contact with Answer IT after they took over another company who were the people We signed up with. Answer IT were aggressive, unprofessional and delivered nothing at all despite promises after promises. Each time I called I got someone different! After being convinced to undertake a Bing/Facebook campaign which did nothing for our business, they got annoyed when we cancelled our contract and tried to charge us £199.00 as a cancellation fee. They said that when they took our account over from The previous company our contract changed and they had the right to charge us. We were never informed of any changes to our contract, with either written or verbal communication and they could not prove anything to the contrary.

They would still have taken money from our account but our saving grace was the fact that our credit card had expired so they could not charge it.

I can not tell you how much time and energy we spent trying to get these people to do what they had promised. The whole experience was very stressful and took up far too much time.

Please heed the warnings people have bothered to put on here. It had been 6 months since we finally managed to rid ourselves of Answer IT and I still feel strongly enough about the situation to write this review.

They are rude, aggressive, unprofessional and basically bullies who will take your money and offer you nothing but grief in return..

With so many providers out there, go somewhere else.....PLEASE!!

Like most I'm with them and they host my website. I may have to pay a cancellation fee, but I think the fb, bung campaigns are a waste of time. Has anyone sucessfully cancelled? And how did you do it?

MClement

Hello there.

We had a nightmare with Answer IT two years ago. Possibly not the same situation as you so not sure if this will help....

When we tried to cancel the fb and bing campaign they said that their terms and conditions had changed and we had to give 3months notice or pay hefty cancellation fees.

Fortunately I had kept all communications from them and at no time had they informed us of any changes to ts&cs so after a number of emails back and forth I finally went to trading standards and ended up challenging Answer IT in a lengthy point by point email asking for evidence of their notification on t&c changes. I also ended up advising them that I would be charging them on an hourly rate if any further investigations or email writing was necessary as we quite clearly had provided evidence showing that we were not liable for the costs and had never been informed of ant changes. We were also unable to access the customer portal and had requested help a number of times but received nothing.

They could not give us any evidence proving they had informed us of any changes so they backed off very quickly and cancelled our campaign. I had already cancelled all direct debits and standing orders to them.

My advice - check your t's&c's and cancel direct debits then challenge them. Also put everything in writing.

They will try and bully you but their attention to detail is shoddy so hopefully you will be able to get out of it.

Good luck and I hope that has helped somewhat.
