Shockingly Bad Support When Things Go Wrong!

I have two websites with Ipage, my main business website and my blog site. I have had technical problems with my sites for almost two weeks, including a complete loss of content from my business website. Ipage's best explanation was that my site security may have been compromised and I should change my password. I did this and the problems continue; I am now unable to edit any of my site content and have been passed from pillar to post within Ipage, from many many Indian operators to many other Indian technical support people or administrators. None of them understand the problems or seem overly keen on resolving them; they consistently blame me for making changes to my sites that I haven't made. After two hours online this morning enough is enough. I am moving to another service provider. Ipage are just bloody awful!

Can Be Brilliant And Can Be Bad

I have been with Ipage for over 12 months having set up a Site for our Community. The main problem I had with them was pricing you really need to pin them down on any costs. If you seek advise you are always placed on hold for around 4 minutes which can be frustrating and it is quite obvious the people you deal with have no direct knowledge. In saying this I have had no problems with our Site and their systems apart from email are simple to manage.Their pricing when compared with some is good value.

Easy, Affordable Hosting

purchased hosting after reading positive reviews.

needed only a simple 5-page web site, and saw that ipage has great prices and reviews for shared hosting.

after I signed up, their service representatives walked me through setup, and I had no problem getting started- installed wordpress with one-click exactly as advertised.

I'd recommend the service to anyone looking for an affordable shared hosting service. I don't know much about the technical details- so I imagine that people who want more power and more features might not be happy with this product.

At the end of the day, i think its good value for money.

Watch Out For The Fine Print - They'll Take Your M

watch out for the fine print - they'll take your money and run!

the advertised price is only good for a very limited amount of time and then they hit you with unreasonable rates

not to mention their support is non existent - non existent. Do not fall for their trap - read the fine print and you'll see any other host is better!

Be Prepared To Meet Their Corrupt Tactics 2 Steal Your Money

I signed up with iPage and always had problems with the pages loading, representatives being honest and when it came to request details for they can be taken into court, they only evaded. We were hosting many sites with them and when we posted a video of a man attacking our camera man, they were insistent it be removed due to one of their customers - the assailant - demanding it be removed.

Best Host Yet!

I have used several webhosts - 1 & 1 are awful, 123-reg are okay but can work out expensive, StreamlineNet were good until they disabled domain forwarding, Just Host were reasonable....but ipage.com so far have been fantastic.

The reason for my glowing comment? Their 24/7 helpline.

The first time I needed them was because I had stupidly overwritten my entire site, and forgot to add a back-up package (big mistake!). They worked out what I had done wrong, and then offered to subscribe me to their back up package at a cost of approx £15 which would stop me losing everything again. Then then mentioned that they back up all sites anyway, so they had a copy of my site waiting for me to be re-installed once I subscribed to the back up package.

It took approximately 20 minutes from first contact via helpline to get my site up and running again.

Second time, I was wary of making the same mistake when I added new content to a new domain name, so I contacted them on their helpline and they talked me through it step by step. The one error I made, they corrected their end.

ipage.com are reasonably priced and offer superb support. I would definitely recommend them.

Avoid If You Can

As with the previous reviewer, the offering seemed good value and had good reviews. In reality 13 days after signing up they had still not managed to transfer the domain name or set up email and web hosting. Even when they finally transfered the Domain they could not get it set up correctly so it is still unavailable.

You can phone them but you get an American who simply follows a script and has no technical knowledge or access to the system.

You cannot speak to a person from tech support as they are all in India, and all communication is via their Contol Panel, ie messaging, hence the often incomprehensible language.

Also staff seemed to be paid by the support ticket as when they send a message they close the ticket even if no action has been taken.

You can contact them via their 24/7 helpline - they are very helpful and will even correct errors for you, as well as giving you detailed instructions on how to do it (you can have the transcript of the emailed to you). See my review 'best host yet' for my experience.

Ipage Be Careful!

I was lookign around for some cheap web hosting and came across "iPage" seemed to be cheap enough, good reviews on we hosting reviews for 2011 etc...

I signed up for a 3 year hostign package with domain inlcuded for the 3 years or so I thought.

Turns out you're paying roughly £86 just for website hosting which isn't too bad I guess but not the domain name! You only get that free for 1 year, so misleading on their website.

My second gripe is to get the domain name via them for 2 years in about £26 but via 123-reg is £6 mmmm.... quite a mark up there.

Third if you DONT pay by creidt card you're screwed if you decide to cancel as per their t&c's and cancellation policy, which I'm not impressed about.

Their online chat is a bit slow in responses and sometimes doesn't make sense in terms of English. Okay I know I'm not the best for grammer and spelling being a bit dyslexic but come on;

Rob: I want to know if I cancel my policy would I get my money back

Rosie Dean: You can. However, it is not possible to refund domain fee set to nordmanni.co.uk

How does that relate to my question about cancelling the policy??

So just be careful is all I'm saying and much improvement required to make me happy!

I read the response as you can cancel (she said 'you can'), but you won't get a refund for your domain name, only the hosting.

This is standard practice for all web hosts who offer refunds, I believe.

But I do agree that the domain names are overpriced.
