the phone lines were top class.i was booked in at 9.10 iwas out with my tablets by 9.30 hardly any waiting time.

I called them one night from a hotel, after realising there was an error in a prescription I had been given.

It was for general information about an NHS prescription, and I did not know the actual address of the hotel, only its name.

The declined to offer information as 'we need an address incase an ambulance needs to be sent, and without your currently location (just a hotel name) we cannot offer advice".

NHS Direct is a great service. It was invaluable when I had Swine Flu, I was housebound and still feeling very ill after 7 days and worried that I wasn't getting better plus I had no idea what to do about being off work. The advice I received from the nurse who I spoke to was great, she talked me though what I should and shouldn't be doing and reassured me. I have used the service many times with general health queries and always had superb advice. I would recommend NHS Direct to anyone who perhaps feel that they don't have time to go to their GPs or needs advice straight away. It nice to know that advice is there 24 hrs a day on their website or at the end of a phone.
